That makes sense. People start realizing that they have been voting against people, just normal, likable people with families, etc rather than some evil entity that is going to somehow damage the world.

I know that my family was ambivalent about marriage equality until I dragged them kicking and screaming into the new reality. Now they march in more pride parades than I do. They've also been lifelines and support system for MANY university students.

Most of my buddies from college were all various degrees of uncomfortable with knowing a gay person until they found out that I was... that changed a lot of minds. Even from places I've worked in the past... people have told me that once they saw us together and saw us as a "real couple" and not some nebulous concept of "changing the definition of a word" that it made a huge difference. The more of us that come out... the more the world changes.

I've always said to put a nice couple like Anderson and Ben or Ellen and Portia in front of people so they can see who they're voting against. That's how we're going to win this.

Well... and see the downright asinine arguments that we've seen in this thread.
And it's working...people are getting it and their attitudes are changing. My mom always wanted to "get it," but she struggled with it. She loves Ellen (and Anderson - but I mean who doesn't? ) and that's when I think she first really started to understand that the issue is about people, real people and not just some fuzzy concept. Even my stepdad who was an "It's adam & eve, not adam & steve" kind of guy up until about 10 years ago, not only "gets it," but it's an issue that actually matters to him now.

The students on my campus are proof to me that it is changing for the better with every generation. There are still some slurs and negative attitudes, but by and large there is support and acceptance. A few years ago the administration was all in a stir because we had a new incoming student who was transgender. They were worried about housing issues and how the student body would "deal with it." Well it was a non-issue for the students. He's a student leader and now we have gender-inclusive housing on campus. Things will continue to evolve and hopefully the offensive arguments will fall by the wayside.

I read an article about how gay couples in Adelaide have had enough of the kids at their kids school always using the term 'that's so gay'... They are recommending to the school board that it be outlawed and educated why it is discriminatory. That's a step in the right direction I would have thought.

    That's a good question!

I wonder if that's part of the strategy. I not a huge Ron Paul fan but I do agree with some of his stances- particularly on stopping the war- and the first time I heard about Paul Ryan- for a brief moment I made a connection with Ron Paul and a lot of people on the left are easier with Paul than Ryan...

hmm... Paul than Ryan... Paul Ryan...

I really do wonder if there's a strategy involved with Romney picking Paul Ryan for that reason. It wouldn't surprise me if that was at least part of the plan be.

Do you really think anyone is so dumb they can't look at them and tell the difference between the guy who looks like Leslie Jordan and the guy who looks like Eddie Munster?

My dad kept saying Ron Paul when he meant to say Paul Ryan. So this might happen a lot.

They won't be looking at the guys, they'll be looking at the names on a ballot.
Kinda like the woman who was interviewed leaving the polls in Texas the first time George W. Bush ran for governor in 1994. "Bush was a great president, I'm sure he'll make a great governor!"

In a word, no. Bit now that you mention it, Eddie Munster and Lurch would make make a great presidential team!

I guess considering how many times fox "news" klansmen "accidentally" used "Osama" instead of "Obama," it's only going to reall affect people dumb enough to believe the shit on Fox "news."

Speaking of Paul Ryan has anyone here ever tried a using a Flesh light?

Uh... ok, totally off topic but I produced a series of promo clips for FleshJack (the same company, the same product with a gay male target market) and yes, I have like about 20 in my studio that I used to give models when we were doing solo scenes. All the different colours and models they have.

Why... do you want one? (and no... not a "used" one. They're kinda like the flying beasts in Avatar... once it's
bonded with a rider, they never give it up).

Are you canadian? By the way you spelled 'colors' I'm guessing you are. That would be kinda funny since you're so emphatic in defending and expressing your views on American politics

I'm a dual American/Canadian citizen. Born in Hartford, grew up on the North Atlantic Coast. Spent about 18 years in Toronto going to university and starting my career before moving to America for work. For some reason, many of the big porn studios are in places where one can be naked outside in January. Go figure.

But I still keep a lot of my Canadian heritage... spelling "colour" with a u and rhyming "z" with "med."

    And saying "eh?" a lot.

And apologizing for Celine Dion a lot.

Because Lurch answered all of the press questions with a question: "You rang?"

back on topic a little bit. I am interested...who here switched their voting allegiance from or to Romney since he picked Ryan?

Good question. I'd assume limited/none...we'll see.
But nothing will ever trump the fiasco that was Palin last time around. I wonder how many votes were altered by that one.

Well Canadians are very affected by American politics but are totally helpless when it comes to controlling it, we can't vote (well, I can had do), contribute to candidates or do much other than sit back in horror as we watch Americans display their total ignorance about their own history, their own place in the world and even current events that directly affect them.

The effect of watching someone walk into moving traffic without being able to stop them.

Canadians on average know WAY more about American politics, history and culture than Americans themselves. But when Americans come to Canada, they know almost nothing about our country at all. It's... Well, an interesting thing.
