    Your point is valid that the system is broken. I mean, just look at how much money has to be raised to run for president!!! I'm just saying, there are a few other reasons that reasonable people would consider voting for Romney. Heck, #1 is that they just won't vote for the incumbent and the gov't gets it shit together.

    Interesting that Obama changed his giving so much after being president. Also interesting that almost all of Romney's substantial gifting goes to the Mormon church alone.
    I think we're talking about taxes here, not charity. Charity doesn't help to pay for a decent health care system, teachers' salaries, or even for funding wars. Taxes aren't about charity. The conversation about taxes is about decent tax legislation. The point is that the very rich don't pay their fair share of taxes, and the man who could be influencing tax legislation and who likes to say he will help regular Americans will get extreme personal monetary benefit by making sure that the very rich continue to not pay their fair share, while regular Americans continue to pay more than their fair share. But I think you all know that already.

    Actually the thread is about Mitt Romney being unlikable. So you may be talking just about taxes, but that's not the only topic allowed in the thread.
    No, I know... I was just talking about the current little conversation here. (note: I wasn't the one who posted the thing about the 14% taxes... I just jumped in. :) ).

So average Americans are paying 30% of their income to taxes, thus hindering their ability to afford a decent lifestyle, and hence sacrificing WAY more by paying those taxes, while filthy rich people are only paying 14% and not sacrificing anything when it comes to maintaining their lifestyle or being able to afford things? You don't understand how that matters? So the poor just get poorer, and rich keep getting richer, and that's fine?

    I think I find it surprising that anyone thinks Romney can somehow make things better, when in fact he'll make things worse, at least as far as the great majority of Americans are concerned ... Although the Democrats probably wouldn't make it their one and only objective to oppose everything Romney supports just out of spite, like Congress does now. Which is ironic... It's really the Republican Congress that has fucked everything up, because their priority has been to oppose the President rather than help Americans and make things better for them... and people want to vote THAT into the White House now. What a mess! :fp:

    sorry dude ... we've been through this i think plenty ... romney is a self-serving rich guy ... the guy has zero integrity and zero knowledge of things that matter ... he is the epitome of what is awful in politics ... voting for him because you don't like the other guy is akin to jumping off a cliff because you don't like the stairs ...

    yes ... obama is not good ... but if people really want change - voting in this ahole is not gonna do it one bit ...

    Totally. I don't give a shit about charity that goes to the Mormon Church. Give it to people who actually need it, and maybe my opinion of him will go up by 1 or 2%.

    All Mormons give a tithe of 10% to the church.

    I remember when I got out of school and left town, I was looking at joining a church. They made it clear that they expected 10% of my salary to which I was thinking "are you fucking nuts?". Needless to say, I didn't go back ... papa needed a brand-new surfboard. 8-)
