So I'm off tomorrow to a one week vacation at Long Beach, WA. We rented out a nice little beach house where we can spend a nice time enjoying the weather and have a great time off. Not going to be on here much which might actually be a good thing.... ;) But I'm wondering if anyone else have any nice vacations this summer or already went on a vacation early this summer.

Heading to the SOBX with the family next Friday. It's the part of the OBX not too many many people know about. We have a family house, on the water, on the mainland of Bogue Sound. The major beaches are Emerald Isle and Atlantic Beach. It's nice and relaxing, not too many tourists in the area. I'm just going to wake up, hopefully exercise a little, play washers, horseshoes and drink beer in the sun the rest of the day.
    Alright, alright, alright!

My mom is in Greenville now so we have been to Atlantic Beach a few times. Nice place. We have a week starting in Kitty Hawk on Friday. Can't wait. Last year we were in Corolla.

I wanted to go to a nice beach resort destination this summer but decided to save some money and go for broke next summer :D

So this year we are taking a five day trip to Deleware to visit the Dogfish Head Brewery and get at least some beach action and then heading to Philly for Labor Day weekend (I wonder why?)

Sounds fun, Rico! Seems like everyone else in the family is actually going somewhere but me! My sister gets to go to L.A. and Toronto with camp, and my mom and her boyfriend just came home from 12 days on a Danube River cruise visiting such cities as Prague, Budapest, and Salzburg. My dad's in no physical condition to go on a vacation, so there's that. But my vacation comes in the form of relaxing at home- something I haven't done in the summer since I was pretty much 3 years old (it was day camp, then sleepaway camp, then working as a counselor)! I do have an internship, but it's only for a few hours 2 days a week.

Hopefully I'll take a day vacation to Philly in September, though 8-)

Going on a backpacking trip up in Glenwood Springs
for five days. Can't wait!!! We're doing a State Park
tour.. I've been researching a lot of the parks up there,
and so farI'm most stoked to get to see the Hanging
Lake . The pics I've seen look AMAZING!! I hate
conventional vacations, where you sleep in hotels
and such, give me a tent, nature, and water to
cool off in and I am ecstatic. Being enclosed indoors
or having to share a public pool is hell for me!! I am
totally happy to go hiking for my vacation! Type to
you all when I get back next Monday!!!

    Narragansett.

Gailee to be exact. Narragansett has Narragansett Town Beach, Scarborough State Beach heading south down 1A and just past Scarborough is Gailee, with Salty Brine State Beach, formerly known as Sand Hill Cove and another smaller state beach at the jetty/breakwall where George's of Gailee is located. However, Charlestown Town Beach, my personal favorite, is off of Route 1 South before Misquamicut/Westerly. Heading South on Route 1 from where 108 and 1 intersect., there is East Matunuck State Beach, then Carpenters and the Ocean Mist (Ocean Mist is a great waterfront, local bar) in Matunuck, Greenhill beach and then Charlestown Town Beach. If you're really adventurous, head over to the Block, Block Island, for the day. Take bikes, your car, or not, get a cab from the ferry landing and take it to any number of beaches on the island. Absolutely beautiful and awesome.

Charlestown Town Beach looks out at Block Island and if you walk past the town beach proper, you can drink beers as long as your discreet about it. You're not supposed to but if you're cool, you can sip away all day. Nothing better than a cold beer on a hot day at the beach with a view of Block Island and nice Block Island Sound water to swim in. Might even have a seal pop up next to you and its an excellent surf casting beach when the blues are running if that's your thing.

    Peace.
