Missed the extra point on the 2nd one. We should've gotten a new kicker before the trade deadline.

Ha! Nice knowing that regardless of what happens Sat and Sun, they won't gain any ground this series. Tis much nicer seeing St Louis much clearer in our rearviewmirror.

Who said 27 Yankees, other than pundits after 5 weeks of the season? I think I've seen you post that same thing on here, the espn board, CBS sports. Keep up with your envy. We love that.

Woah! Easy cowboy...we're on the same side. I was merely saying it before Wobbie got to it. A mocking of the mocker. He is continually making that precise remark when the Cubs don't do something right. I've got nothing but positive vibes spread out all over this thread.

Dude, we've all lived through those years. I remember 84, I was 6, but I remember.

98 may have been the worst of all of them.

For me, it's 03. In 84, I answer the phone, it's my uncle on a pay phone at Jack Murphy stadium - he asks to speak to my dad.... all I hear is "were going to the world series!!!" That's a close second - then 2 weeks later I move to Detroit.... The night the tiger's win it. Ugh!

  • 84 is EASILY the BIGGEST DISASTER (in my eyes), as far as the Cubs go.
There was no way in hell that team was NOT going to get to the World Series.
Yet somehow they managed to fuck it all up.

Being up 2 games to nothing and blowing it is bad. But maybe 03 was the worst. 5 outs away. So heartbreaking. I've never felt such disappointment. And im a bills fan. I've felt the loss of 4 straight super bowls. 03 was so bad.

We have to stay reminded of those disappointments. We can't take this team for granted. They are, by far, the best all around team in baseball. They have to do it this year. It's personal for me. My grandma died in March. Her brother who still lives in Lansing Illinois, is 80 and a die hard fan. He has cancer. He wants nothing more than to see them just make the series.

I know so many people in Boston felt the same thing when they finally won. It has to be this year.

This. Every year is sacred. I know that I value baseball more than the next person, and I'm fanatical about it.... But just like you said, this is about more than me, or you. It's about the people that got me interested in the game to begin with. 50% of my joy would come from the happiness that I know it would bring to my grandmother, father, uncle..... The people that have waited far longer than I have. My godfather's father died in December of 08, i felt worse for him than I did myself. At this point, it's more a labor of love for my older family members than it is myself.

It's Gonna Happen baby. We're too good this year.

Two fucking days in a row our bullpen gives up a fuck ton of 8th inning runs. I don't understand how it's so fucking hard for our relievers to get 3 god damn outs without opening up the fucking flood gates. So sick of this shit.

We've been on borrowed time with Rondon. He's a 7th inning guy at best. And he misplays that bunt? Ridiculous. If I'm Lackey, those guys get a piece of my mind in the clubhouse. That was terrible all around that inning.

No, we don't say fuck him. But we gotta be honest with who he is. The injury had nothing to do with booting that grounder.

The only thing worse than losing to the Cards is that smug ass look on Matheny's face. He has two facial expressions: asshole stepfather and villain in a Steven Seagal movie.

You guys just love to hate on Matheny. Ya know what you sound like? Cardinal fans.

Seems like a good guy off the field but goddamn, I wish he'd have a little fun. He's got that pissed off Larussa attitude all the time. At least Tony knew to have fun at times and had his quirks. It's hard to argue with Matheny's success, but his style is gonna wear thin sooner than later, especially with some of the younger guys.
