We aren't paying him to hit hrs or get rbis. He will prob hit 1 or 2 along with zobrist. We just need him to get on base for rizzo, bryant and schwarber who we are paying to hit hrs and get rbis. 23 mil is prob a tad more than you'd want to spend but such is the going rate. Solid def outfielder and you stole him from your biggest rival. I'll take it.

I heard 6/$190....either way, would've been nice to have him, but the Cards need a real bat and an innings eater more than they need a guy like Heyward. If somebody was gonna overpay for him, it made the most sense for Chicago, for now.

  • I like how everyone just looks at HR & RBI, but choose to ignore his OPB, 3 Gold Gloves, and 20 defensive runs saved per season.

Bingo. Great defensive player, gets on base, gets in scoring position, and it weakens the Cards.

Cubs are gonna be tough next year. Let's face it you gotta spend the money to build a championship roster.

    How so?

I still don't understand why a Giants fan has so much hatred for the Cubs? A team that has never been in the same division, is far from being a heated rival, has only met once in the playoffs, and has had their own recent success after decade upon decade of futility.

Especially after the Giants just outbid the Cubs for Samardzjia and tried giving Grienke much more than the Cubs gave Heyward.

Adding two contact, high on-base percentage hitters like Zobrist and Heyward should help solve the "all or nothing" problem that our offense had last year.

Need to add one more starting pitcher
  • Hope Heyward stays healthy and has an impact for you all! Cubs finally looking like a good team! Bring on the rivarly!

Cause we were smart enough to realize Shark was not a starting pitcher worth signing?

Expectations are gonna be extremely high on these kids this season. I hope they don't let that get to them. Joe Maddon is a master at reflecting the media away from the players though!

    Come ooooooonnnnnnnnnnn Opening Day!!

Any of you guys heading out for some spring training games? If so, hit me up!
I usually go to a couple at the Cubs park (the new one is nice!) and one at the Dbacks as their spring training field is a couple minutes away! :)

You don't like starting pitchers? Sounds like the Yankees.
The worst of times..they don't phase me,
even if I look and act really crazy.

Purchased the tix on my phone and the tickets.com website gave me a ton of more time to complete my transaction than it did during the PJ sale. Such bs.
