It's just a guy in a bear suit, people. I'm pretty sure he hasn't brought the apocalypse with him like everyone's making it out to be.
I don't know...I think he might have brought the apocalypse...no Tanaka and now the Rooftop owners are suing the Cubs. Good times.

i love the packers
Don't forget to add to the list the 10 new uniforms that the cubs will be wearing next year. Cubs are making lots of news, just not the baseball related news that I was hoping for this offseason.
Mr. Theo canned Mr. Sveum thinking he was going to land Girardi. And that was never even close to happening. Girardi had NO intentions whatsoever of coming to manage the mess we have here in Chicago.
Nice job Theo.
Girardi or no Girardi, anything has to be better than Stale Same.
anyone plan on going to any of the two yankee games when they are in town (5/20 & 5/21)? snagged a solo upperdeck ticket off stubhub for the 5/20 game while the prices are still reasonable. plan is to drink beers and try and keep score in a program (haven't tried this in years) since i'll be flying solo. the 5/21 game is an afternoon start, going to have to try and get out of work for that one.
Cubs tickets go on sale March 7th. Should I buy them? Or should I wait and get tickets for $2.75 on stub hub?
I remember a day when I used to get excited to purchase my tickets, and look forward to spending a few summer days at Wrigley. Seems like a lifetime ago.

$2.75 is a bit high. I'd wait for them to come down.

The Ricketts/Theo era will go down as one of the BIGGEST DEBACLES in Cubs History. Which is quite the statement. Considering the entire franchise has been a debacle for 106 years.
Take me piece by piece..... Till there aint nothing left worth taking away from me.....

I'd definitely wait. You can't beat getting a ticket to a Cubs game that costs less than a beer!
I'm planning on going to a couple spring training games. I know it doesn't mean shit, but it's nice to sit out in the lawn, have a few beers and soak up some cancerous sun while watching AA players run around like idiots. Also going to see them play at the Diamondback's spring training field. It's like 5 minutes away from me and it'll be a night game.

I remember those days too. I used to take the day off of work and drink old style while trying to get games in the virtual waiting room. Not this year. Ill be going to opening day and the mil sat game in may for my bach party but that's it. Not even gonna try to go to any games in mil this year. The run to the Cactus league title starts today.

Spring training games are awesome. Even if the game sucks, there are TONS of smokin hot chicks in the crowd wearing practically nothing! Fantastic!

That's certainly possible. I just don't want to deal with GIants fans....hot or not.
no way I'm getting into a debate over who are the more obnoxious fans....but I think we both know the answer

While Theo is busy trying to recreate the Red Sox, the rest of us would just rather have Ricketts open up the bank account and buy our way into the WS. Screw this "do it from the gound up" crap. I want to see my team win a damn World Series and I'm done being patient about it.
I think the team will be better this year but our pitching is going to kill us. The Cubs finish the year 75-87. Castro will bounce back a bit this season (but his defense will still be awful) but I am not sure Rizzo getting much better in 2014. Edwin Jackson will continue to be Edwin Jackson (not a good thing). Baez will be fun to watch when he gets called up. Samardzija will be traded at the deadline (or will get injured before we can deal him)

Total forgot about Mike Olt. The Cubs need to get him on the field to continue to develop but I am afraid that he will be splitting too much time with Valbuena. I think the Cubs are going to get too caught up in playing lefthanded/righthanded lineups.
Managers seem to put entirely too much emphasis on the lefty/righty crap these days. I'm anxious to see how Renteria does. We've had arguably the two worst managers in a row. Quade wasn't a good decision maker, but he at least seemed to light a fire under a few of the guys. Sveum was just a fucking terrible, clueless idiot. I'd go so far as to say that to his face if I ever saw him. A god damn cardboard cut out would've done as much in-game managing as he did. By default, Renteria is already a better manager than Sveum, and I am looking forward to seeing how he works games.
Let the 100 loss season begin. Excited for the home opener Friday, even though it's gonna be cold as shit. Agreed on the L/R thing, it's way over blown. GO CUBS!!!!

Sveum was awful.
I have pretty low expectations for Renteria. I do not expect him to last 3 seasons but if he helps the youngsters develop than I think he will have accomplished what he was put in place to do.
It will be interesting to see how many different lineups he uses this year and to see how long his overly positive attitude lasts.
