He was extremely inconsistent as has been the umpiring most of the postseason. I feel ive seen more hitters and pitchers asking about the strike zone this postseason than ever before. It should be common knowledge what is and isn't a strike. They haven't changed the game. It really shouldn't be that difficult IMO.HesCalledDyer said:
No, I'm saying umpires need to call the strike zone consistently for both pitchers.bootlegger10 said:
Are you saying the game was "rigged"?HesCalledDyer said:Also fuck the home plate umpire. If it's a strike for Kluber, it needs to be a strike for Lester. I don't understand how there can be a rule defined strike zone and umpires call it differently a) than the rule suggests and b) for different pitchers.

The strike zone did suck, but there were some "bad" calls that did catch the plate when they showed the overhead. Kluber used it to his advantage, Cub batters never adjusted and Lester just complained and made things worse. What inning did he go talk to blue? Should've happened earlier. Not to let the ump off the hook, but the Cubs crowding the plate has to make it more of a challenge to have a consistent strike zone.
Baez missed the blind tag on the stolen base, IMO. I don't think it would've or should've been overturned but the onus should've been on Chi to review or not. Baez got bailed out there. His no look tag trick is likely to go against him at a pivotal moment.
Bottom line for me...Kluber was dealing and they may have eeked in a couple runs off of him, but I think he would've adjusted to whatever strike zone he was given.0 -
I'll reserve judgement on the ump until after ump tracker tweets the results today. It certainly seemed like we were watching a Greg Maddox game circa '96, where Kluber was getting 1-3 inches off the plate on either side. It is what it is...... Still took too many strikes and didn't protect the plate.DewieCox said:The strike zone did suck, but there were some "bad" calls that did catch the plate when they showed the overhead. I think you're off on the Baez tag. It's a no look tag because he fields the ball in a position to get it in his glove quicker, instead of straddling the bag like most middle infielders do. He then whips his glove back to the bag with such a quickness that he's still watching the ball into his glove, essentially. (Ask that Towles guy about watching the ball into the glove) And correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the onus absolutely on Cleveland to review a play..... Any play they think the umps might have gotten wrong, that went against them?2000 - 8/21 - Columbus, OH

What Baez does just looks showboaty to me. He could turn his head at some point even if his tag hand his faster than he can follow.
Obviously it was on Cle to challenge, but I'm saying the ump missed the initial call and it should've gone against Chi, putting it on them to challenge whether he made the tag. The call either way would've been impossible to overturn.

That ump sucked calls for both teams. Early on his calls were for the tribe, later in the game they were for the cubs. He choked in his first world series game behind the plate. He sucks. Either way, cleveland looked good.- Chicago Gchicago98-chicago00-chicago03-east troy03-chicago06-chicago09-east troy11_2-chicago13-moline14-milwaukee14-lexington16-chicago16_1-chicago16_2-chicago18_1-chicago18_20

Damn that sucked. Definitely wanted more of a showing from the team. Perez with 2 HR? Wtf was that all about? I think all the deep counts were because Kluber was that good and they were trying to increas his pitch count to get him out before getting to Andrew Miller. That said, I really like them at least making Miller throw so many pitches."A smart monkey doesn't monkey around with another monkey's monkey" - Darwin's Theory0

Arrieta needs a big game. I can't see this Kluber guy owning them again. I thought that's what you were getting at...."showboaty"..... But I wasn't going to come right out and accuse you of that. I guess when you see a guy that is a better fielder than Ozzie Smith, you're going to go all out and try to find something wrong with him. That's the way of that cheater organization.
