I didn't call the Giants a powerhouse. I called the Sharks and Warriors powerhouses. And yeah, they didn't win rings until recently either. I guess since the Giants are doing okay, you don't have to bandwagon for an AL team this year?? Go back to your Giants thread and leave us alone. You hate the Cubs for no reason; it's really pathetic.Wobbie said:
no, the Giants are never the powerhouse. they just win rings.HesCalledDyer said:
The Giants remind me of the powerhouse 2016 Sharks and powerhouse 2016 Warriors. Oh wait, neither one of them won a championship. The Bay Area is a big tank.Wobbie said:cubs are reminding me of the powerhouse 2010 phillies and rangers, powerhouse 2012 cardinals and tigers, powerhouse 2014 nats and royals.....oh wait, the Giants beat all those teams.

They keep getting younger somehow. They are going to need to pick up some experience between now and september. The worst of times..they don't phase me,
even if I look and act really crazy.0 -

I am, and we'll see! Love me some good baseball, really no matter who is playing. I will state the obvious though that the Cardinals seem to be in the mix quite a bit the past 5-6 years. Even in-between, you know, winning the Central and going to the World Series, winning one, etc,.Degeneratefk said:

We need to get it together. The bats are cold and the defense has been hurting us.0

I'm confused on this as well. I've seen/heard several media outlets say first in history. I've heard some say first in modern era (Len Kasper even said this on air during the game). And I've also heard first since 1913 (but no one has named who in 1913 accomplished the feat). I'm not sure what is true. The Topps Now card I ordered yesterday states "first since 1913" on the front of the card.cutz said:

Regardless, what's even more amazing is that he is only the 2nd Cub in history to have 5 extra base hits in one game! (And I've seen confusing reports on this as well. I've seen the last time mentioned as both 1885 and 1900).Star Lake 00 / Pittsburgh 03 / State College 03 / Bristow 03 / Cleveland 06 / Camden II 06 / DC 08 / Pittsburgh 13 / Baltimore 13 / Charlottesville 13 / Cincinnati 14 / St. Paul 14 / Hampton 16 / Wrigley I 16 / Wrigley II 16 / Baltimore 20 / Camden 22 / Baltimore 24 / Raleigh I 25 / Raleigh II 25 / Pittsburgh I 250 -

Yanks saying unless Schwarber is part of talks for Miller it isn't happening is laughable. No way Theo is doing that. Yes Schwarber is a liability in the field but no way do you trade a guy who is a 30+ hr dh in the al for a fn reliever, even when we could use bullpen help. This would be a stupid trade. Id keep Schwarber but if you trade him at least get your value back (prob a #2 starting pitcher imo).Alpine Valley 6/26/98, Alpine Valley 10/8/00, Champaign 4/23/03, Chicago 6/18/03, Alpine Valley 6/21/03, Grand Rapids 10/3/04

I'm all for it. I want to win this year. In all my 35 years as a Cubs fan, this is arguably the best team we've fielded in my lifetime. Schwarber isn't coming back this season and we've proven we don't need him offensively. Is it a smart, long-term trade? I don't know, nor do I care at this point. 108 years and "wait til next year" has run it's course.pureoc said:Yanks saying unless Schwarber is part of talks for Miller it isn't happening is laughable. Im not saying Schwarber is untradable. Im saying he deserves much more value than a relief pitcher especially from an al team who schwarbs value as a dh is sky high. Give us 2 pen arms possibly, miller and a guy who would be a starter on our staff ok, although cc is probably only one who would fit that, i dont follow ny. Or miller and a high prospect or legit current mlb guy that at min makes the 25 man roster. Schwarber for miller straight up is a joke and not even close to the value the cubs should get for him especially from an al team.HesCalledDyer said:
