Oohhhh Dunky...... beats Shakira in a cheeleader's outfit!! Awesome (used appropriately!) show - think I might even rate it over Dublin (sacrilege!). Could have been front row but had to swap for seating (dodgy hip & back). was 'front row' material..... PJ still playing in my head :D:D
Wolfmother rocked!
Shakira is hideous and her voice is the worst sound ever created. Sounds like a goat.

you've just made an enemy for life.... now where did i leave my claymore?
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.
All my hair got straight up, from the beginning to the end. Thanks for coming Pearl Jam, thank you for coming to your fans. The Rockers and the crowd were almost in trance. It was the greatest show i saw this year.
15 years I’ve been waiting for Belgian Fanviews Let them speak.
Here you go... I wrote this for RM, but I guess I can post it here as well
A few things I wanted to write down:
First of all, thank you Pearl Jam for finally making it to Belgium. I had a lot of friends (not only you Juve) who were laughing at me that they were going to cancel again. I must admit, I was worried till the moment they hit the stage. But then there they were, and then there we were. The gig was sold out in a matter of hours (1.5 hours I believe), although I saw quite a few empty chairs behind the stage, but those tickets went on sale later on. Thank you Hilmar, Stu & Chris (and my friend who was with me) for keeping me 'busy' the hours before the concert. I might have told you this, but you guys have no idea how my heart was beating yesterday. It was crazy, all day long. I woke up at 5am, something I never do.
Then the show... ah well, where to begin?
Wolfmother put on a great show. I'm happy to have seen them. Good band. Great live act. Nice sound for just being a 3 piece. Then some of the music that was playing before Pearl Jam came on included Thunderclap. I think that was about the moment that I really realized "oh man, they're going to play here". And then Master/Slave started, and then the lights went out and then...
Interstellar Overdrive/Corduroy... I've always said that if there's one country that deserves to have its show opened with 'the waiting drove me mad' then it's Belgium. And there it was.
Then came the usual string of hard rocking songs. Animal got the front section (couldn't see the rest of the venue, so I really don't know) going totally mental. Hail hail was awesome. As were WWS & Severed Hand (the "like a tear" part really got through to me this time, fantastic stuff). After a rousing Not For You, I was extremely happy Eddie added the Modern Girl tag. Noone seemed to recognize it, but I went totally crazy, cheering and jumping up and down. Eddie surely noticed it, cause a few songs later he would come a little closer, he noticed my Sleater-Kinney T-shirt, we got eyecontact for a second and he smiled. My highlight of live PJ so far.
After that we had the great honour to see In Hiding live. My god, I love Yield. At that moment, I really realized the show would be so special. The front section really sang along to the chorus. Awesome. After Unemployable, another dream. Eddie spoke to the crowd for the first time, about finally making it to Belgium and thanking the crowd. And then came MY song. Given to fly. My god, I can not express enough how much I love this song. Even Flow had Mike playing almost the entire solo with guitar behind his head. Mad props to Mike. He was awesome, the whole show through. The song really got the whole venue going.
After even flow, another dream. Present Tense. The crowd got to sing part of the chorus. I don't know about the rest of the venue, but where I was everyone damn well knew the words. Present Tense is one of my very favourites. And I damn well enjoyed it. Seeing Present Tense live can be so intense, such religious experience. 3rd Yield song of the night followed. It's evolution baby. I thought it was one of the better versions I've heard, but I'll wait a few months for the bootleg till I can really make such statements, cause yesterday I was too much just in a dream to really understand what was going on.
Big Wave followed. I was happy to hear it, although they quite screwed it up. But they made up with an awesome Small Town. Lyrical change to "never dreamt we'd be here". Marvellous. After that came Jeremy. and I'm serious here, I won't even wait for the bootleg to make this statement: this is one of the greatest versions of Jeremy I've ever heard. I was totally impressed. No words for it. People can be tired of this song, I can't. I love it. They close the main set down with another big singalong, Why go. Indeed, Why go home.
The noise during the encore break was huge. I think only Kitchener comes close in that aspect. From the moment they came back, magic arrived. Soon Forget was so wonderful. I was so happy to finally hear a good version of it (Kitchener was screwed up and abandoned ). And then came Black. With a nice and quite powerful We Belong Together tag. With a marvellous Mike solo. And with the crowd carrying the song for minutes after it had finished. The band could only watch the crowd, wondering what was happening, laughing to each other, watching us in disbelief. Unbelievable. Beforehand I was afraid of the crowd response. At this moment I was damn proud to be a Belgian.
What better way to follow up Black than Betterman. The crowd got to sing the first verse & chorus, which was awesome. The song really rocked, the band seemed totally into it, it's a pity it wasn't tagged, but hey, Betterman is, just as Jeremy, one of those songs that a lot of people seemed to be tired of, but that I just can't get enough from. I really really love this song. And I think with Black & Betterman, they just played two of the best ever songs in a row. The crowd in the stands seemed to go nuts, just like in front. I was so happy to see the entire venue go absolutely mental, to see the band responding to it so thankful, to be there.
Crazy Mary is one of my least favourite songs Pj plays, but this time I really enjoyed it. During Boom's organ solo, it was clear that Eddie gave signals to Mike like saying "go on, do the solo battle thing", which they did. Fantastic! Comatose rocked and Alive was one of the best moments of the night. Again with the entire crowd going apeshit. Singing parts of the chorus alone. Eddie on the side boxes, Mike on the other side boxes. Awesome stuff. Never to forget. They could have ended the show there and I wouldn't have complaint for a minute.
But they didn't... Indifference... wow. Such a nice song. And then, Eddie "we're going to attempt something new that we never tried in Belgium before". Hahaha. Anyway, he introduced Andy from Wolfmother and I just remember screaming it all out, hugging the people around me when Mikey started Hunger Strike. I wasn't a huge fan of the song, but hearing it definitely changed that. I was so incredibly happy something that special happened in Belgium. At our show. Then the lights went on and they closed the night with Baba & Ledbetter. Mikey just couldn't stop at the end of Ledbetter. The band greeted the audience for a couple of minutes, seemed like they were really impressed with the crowd, and then left... for a year. Hopefully.
My best friend & huge Metallica fan who came to the show under huge pressure of me (Natalie yes) said it was a long time ago she had seen such a good concert. It's these things that make me an even happier man. I have only read one person who expected more so far, but that guy was a Nirvana fan from day one and followed Kurt in his Pearl Jam dissing. All the rest are people who had one of the best concerts of their life.
Bring on Marseille. But this will be very hard to top.
Sorry, this took a bit more words than I planned. But I don't know what to do today other than reliving yesterday's experience.

can't wait for paris and vienna, though i can hardly believe that it'll tip this show (also because it was my first one)
Arnhem was a wonderful start to my Pearl Jam summer.... but Antwerp just blew the roof off it!!!!! It was a much better venue.... a more active crowd, and we were down the front this time.... Hungerstrike into Baba O'Reilly just killed me!!!
We missed the last train to amsterdam... drank in antwerp till about 4am.... slept in the station for a few hours and sleepily arrived back in Amsterdam at about 9.30 - I'v been sleeping ever since.... my body has Pearl Jam overdose,.... and it's ready shut down, but my heart can't wait till I do it all again in Barcelona.....
I got much better photos last night(Although some of them are of dubious quality):

Well I just have a 3.2 megapixel Camera.. not that good nowadays... but I put the ISO on 800 and only used opical zoom and no digital... besides that I was frontrow dead center (right side) so I guess I was just close enough to make these...:-)..I did some tests during Wolfmother to find the right setting..that helped as well.... anyway I am glad you like them and can use them as a nice souvenier to a memorable night:-)

So did I, I saw you in the 10C line.
That, Black and Betterman, to me was pure magic. There were some amazing moments during the concert - Hunger Strike anyone? - but the double B back to back was without a doubt my personal highlight. And the bands as well, if you ask me. They were amazed and suprised, Stone just started clapping... And I nearly cried.
Brilliant review Angus. And yes, Jeremy was mindblowing.
btw:
is it normal that i'm feeling quite lost after my first PJ-shows??
That I'm feeling very empty but happy and that i'm wondering around in a comfortable aimless manor after these 2 amazing days?
Like the afterglow of a night of amazing sex ...
Just wandering...
Man, what music and a band can do... Never thought a concert could make me feel this way...
I thought I had heard and seen the best songs in Arnhem, but Crazy Mary, Baba O'Reiley, Betterman, Hungerstrike, ... Super! Can it get even better??

So those crazy Scots are on this board? The guys who were on Mike's side, chanting before the concert, chanting "show me your tits" during Wolfmother, the guy in the Scotland jersey, ... Haha, I was with the Irish guys that gave you a nice finger when you sang something against them, but then I managed to move all the way to the middle during the first few songs where Ed noticed me.

Hey good to hear from you - we'll be in barcelona tomorrow night doing the same - the crowd was excellent last night - i don't think they needed our "riling" before hand.
it was good to see that there wasn't "Only one flag in Belgium!!!"
My sheepish, tired, lyrically challenged friend has just said that it was great when they play that "keep on starving in the freeworld" song..... i.e. hungerstrike.... I think he took a knock to the head last night...

You guys are going to the France, Italy or Berlin shows as well? Maybe then I'll dare to talk to you.
I'll have my Belgian flag with me in those countries.

We'll be at Barcelona, Verona, Milan, Prague and Berlin.... Bring the flag!!!! I love the idea of the multi-cultural celebrations across europe!!!
I got tickets for the concert in Antwerp through Ten Club. When standing in line at the side of the building during the late afternoon, we could here the band do the soundcheck. I heard Eddie's voice quite clear and it took me a few seconds to notice that they were playing "God's Dice" (which didn't make it in the end). The fact that they played Hunger Strike didn't surprise me, as I heard them rehearsing it too (already with Andy, but at that time I didn't have a clue who the other singer was). The last song I heard them playing was "Baba O'Riley".
So far the waiting outside. But I had already heard Pearl Jam in Belgium, so it could only get better...
When entering the building, all 10C members went straight to the middle-front of the place, right in front of the stage. As there was plenty of room, I went to the right side, and saw a sound-engineer (?) talking to someone else I could only see on the back. That someone had long brown hair and was wearing a 90's flannel shirt... it took me a some moments of doubt to realize Eddie Vedder was standing 10 metres away from me, and no one else but me and my brother noticed!! I wanted to shout his name (teenage behavior was popping up ), but then he walked backstage, without looking our way.
During Wolfmother's performance, Mike McCready was watching for a while at the left side, next to the stage, before waving and giving us the peace-sign while going backstage again.
Wolfmother was really energetic, with their keyboard-transporting guy and their "Chris Cornell meets Axl Rose"-voiced singer.
Nevertheless, Belgium was awaiting Pearl Jam for too long to stay really interested.
I'm not going to start running through the whole set-list, because I seem to have forgotten about everything (excitement? too tired now? or just amnesia??), but I do remember this:
- amazing feeling to see those American icons walking on the stage! It really looks like on all those DVD's!
- unbelievable feeling to hear Ed's voice live (it is sharper than I expected though)
- kick-ass setlist. absolutely
- Mike McCready is one hell of a show-guy, but he pulls it off! The solo's during Even Flow (behind the head, with his fingers towards the crowd so we can see how good he is!!), and Crazy Mary (leaning over the keyboard of Boom while they both are going nuts, and laughing
- Mike throwing all the picks in the crowd, and putting anything that was thrown on the stage by the crowd aside
- Jeff, jumping around, smiling all the time, and nodding pleasantly surprised after the Hungerstrike performance of the Wolfmother frontman
- Stone, dancing (!), laughing, and shaking his head while shouting during Mike and Boom's solo of Crazy Mary
- Matt's drum solo during Even Flow, and his amazing powerful play! He was really appreciating the crowd by standing up and clapping his hands in between some songs
- Boom wasn't present during all show, but he really gave it all during Crazy Mary!!
- Eddie appologizing for being late in Belgium, proposing to play 6hours, being astonished and speachless (only smiling came out) by the crowd during 'our' version of Black, being very appreciative towards the crowd
- Eddie, before Yellow Ledbetter: "This is the way of saying goodbye in America. Well, in fact, we don't say goodbye as Americans, we just occupy countries"
- Eddie saying at the end of the show: "We kind of like Belgium a lot, right now"
- Eddie saying: "See you next year" (!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
- me, singing along every single song, and sometimes thinking of the times I used to be in the car with a bootleg, envying the people being there at that time. Now, I'll be having MINE!
- me, not knowing where to look first (PEARL JAM IS STANDING RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME!!!)
- me, being no more a Pearl Jam-virgin!!!

Hey good to hear from you - we'll be in barcelona tomorrow night doing the same - the crowd was excellent last night - i don't think they needed our "riling" before hand.
it was good to see that there wasn't "Only one flag in Belgium!!!"
