Oohhhh Dunky...... beats Shakira in a cheeleader's outfit!! :D Awesome (used appropriately!) show - think I might even rate it over Dublin (sacrilege!). Could have been front row but had to swap for seating (dodgy hip & back). was 'front row' material..... PJ still playing in my head :D:D:D

its ok to rate it over Dublin... i rate Astoria over dublin as well

Wolfmother rocked... they have got a good reception from fans in their support slots, which is good!!! damn you paddy casey :D

awesome is my new word anyway.... its an awesome word!
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.
  • 'tis the morning after the night before.. aching bones and a sore throat from all the singing *shouting*.. What a truly awesome show.. having seen them play 3 times before including the mighty Astoria show.. I thought they could"nt get better.. BUT the fact that the Belgian fans had been waiting so long for the boys to play and the boys had never played the Sportpaleis before meant that the show was incredible.. the crowd was electric & we were truly spoilt by the choice of songs!!!

Indiffference was heartfelt & tender..Crazy Mary was truly beautiful, Black was gentle & fragile like only Eddie knows how.. but with the added emotion of 18,000 fans screaming do do do do do do dooooo over & over again. Ed truly didnt know what to say.. he was speechless. They rocked harder than ever with Evolution,Why Go & the classics & Comatose was awesome- such a tight sound & Ed was completely together despite the 3 bottles of red! ;-)

At the end of the show, PJ looked like they could have gone on for the 6 hours they joked about.. they didnt want to leave.. and neither did we...

That show was one I will never ever forget.... downloading later..

    Wow.

  • posting from the office the day after: i'm still dizzy, got a sore throat from screaming my lungs out (Indifference was mindblowing!) and i'm tired as hell! but what a show! i was fortunate to sneak my way from the back to the front, right where mike was playing and boy was he on fire!
highlights for me were Not For You (the energy!), Black (the crowd not wanting it to end, brilliant!), Hunger Strike (great duet, absolutely stunning. at this point my clothes were soaking and my heart pounding and i tried so hard to sing at the top of my lungs but my voice, i think i fucked up my voice permanently...).
thank you guys for an unforgettable night!!

Stian and John - couldn't find you after the show to say good bye! Stian - have a great tour and John... lucky bastard! We'll see each other again next year!

Neil & Fraser - didn't bump into you guys but did see Fraser being 'himself' in the pit!

Marina - lovely seeing you again - have a good Barcelona and a safe trip home!

    PJ good byes :(:(

I hope, they'll honour their promise, of coming back to Belgium, and hopefully, they'll come to an other venue than Antwerp. I'm french, and i thought the crowed lacked enthusiasm, and some Chaps managed to screw up my night, by not letting me threw in front...The crowd hardly moved......They didn't even notice that Pearl jam were playing in front of them or what??? I'm somewhat disapointed of the behaviour of crowd....

I was in Reading on sunday, and probably the setlist was not as interesting as the one we got yesterday, but the atmosphere was awesome, the crowd didn't stop from the beginning to the last note...Eddie was even moved, to see such a crowd....backing them up.....

I'm going to see them next, in paris, on the september the 11th....and, i hope to be stuck on thebarrier, that the band will still be up to it, to get "Whippin; go; Satan's bed; Release.... and most of all, that the crowd will get nuts.......

My guess is you were in Stones side, where the crowd was a bit mellow at first. I was in Mike's side, and my g/f actually got scared at some point cause the crowd was moving like a stormy ocean.

Another guess of mine is you were in the bathroom when they played Black and Betterman. Ed didn't know what to say, where to look or how to behave when the crowd kept singing dodododododooo. He was moved alright. Stone just stood there clapping.

Another brilliant moment imo: there were people way up high behind the stage, which is probably the worst view of the venue, but everytime the lights allowed it, I could see this one girl/woman standing up in her seat and shaking her booty off. I couldn't help but smile every time I saw her.

Oh, and I met Buru, all the way from Argentina :)
  • It was soooo much was worth the long wait!!!!!

Crowd was a bit calm at the start, but once eddu started interacting with the public, that all changed and by the en dyou could really feel the respect going both ways. I don't think I'll ever forget the wya the band was looking when the crowd continued Black for minutes.

I could'nt agree more. i was also on Mike's side, more or less 2nd row, depending on the song they played. It was pretty rough on this side. But it was f.. rock concert...

  • Oh my god!! what a night!

    Antwerp's show was just amazing!!
I was the day before in Arnhem. That was great, but yesterday was the longest hard-on ever!!!!

Little (true) story about yesterday (from a friend of mine who worked in the local crew yesterday - f*****' asshole ;-):
In the afternoon Eddie came in the local production office and asked if there was a curfew. He said that if there was none, they would play the whole night!!!!! unfortunately, they had to stop at 0.00. WE ALMOST HAD OUR 4hours SHOW!!!!!

Can't wait for the next time I'll smoke a pot with PJ playin' Indifference just in the front of me!! (when I saw jeff's double-bass during the change-over, I knew they would play Indifference!!)

thanx Matt for the drums solo (but it was better in Arnhem...)!!!

    THANX PJ!!!

  • This is Obi Once, these belgium keyboards are weird

What a kick ass show loved every momoent, again met up w/ Buru before the show, after getting a ride from Pearl Wax (dude u rock) waited 2 hours to get in and had 2nd row spot in front of Mike for 1.5 hours. Ran into 2 mad scots frm this forum.

Still VERY happy they played Present Tense. Nice treats were also In Hiding, Unemployable, Big Wave, Small Town, Hunger Strike  (Stockdale sounded good) the whole set was awesome... Compared to yesterday this was more intimate and a wee better setlist!

imho the crowd was better tuesday, a lot of pushing and grabbing things yesterday, but F* it, I had a great time! these people were clearly very anxious to c the band play.

Gonna go now enjoy Gent 3 more days.

Thanks Pearl Jan for 2 special nights and Pearl Wax for being the perfect Belgium host the 2nd nite!

Let me guess, you were NOT on the left side of the stage...

I was on the right side, secodn row, and 3 or 4 jerks always tried to get the front line... They were completely drunk and were there only to disturb..
Some of those "fans" who only like "Alive" and "Jeremy"...
Otherwise, I think teeh crowd was good. A bit excited of course, but it is normal, when you think we have been waiting so long...

the left side was definitely moving way to hard at some point. I was sitting in one of those seats, and had a good view over the first rows of the crowd and got a bit scared at a certain moment, coz you could really see them uncontrollably moving from front to back and pushing all over. At that point i was hoping Eddie would say something about "being careful and taking care of eachother"... But eventually everything turned out alright.

BTW: these last 2 shows, were my first 2 PJ-shows ever, after 15 long hard years :) But i'm blown away!!!!! It was worth every f*** minute and every cent!

But I felt sooooooooo stupid and jealous (especially yesterday, since i was seated) that i hadn't join 10C earlier. There were a LOT of people there just going to "some concert", having only 1 PJ-album at home...
Wish i was there with you, 10C-people, in the front, screaming your heart out, enjoying it, rocking the place, and truly feeling the music! It was nice seeing you doing that. Respect!

Next time i'll be there with you! Definitely!!!

But what a great experience it was! Think I'm addicted now... :o)

PJ finally played Belgium, and how!
It's like I've been dreaming, this morning I woke up with no voice but still floating. this was my first Pearl Jam show, but it has set the standard very high.
What a pitty that they couldn't play all night, but there were highlights enough in those 2hours
Given To Fly, Present Tense, Elderly Woman Behind The Counter In A Small Black, Better Man, Crazy Mary, Indifference, Hunger strike, baba o'riley, yellow ledbetter actually all 25 songs.
although I was crushed by all sides (second row, left side) at some moments, I couldn't be bothered. pearl jam was rocking and there was no way that I would leave.
I'm looking forward to paris (11/9) berlin (23/9) and belgium (2007)

Leaving out the crappy seats I got (but hey, there were some even crappier) it was a killer show.

It was my first one and they blew me away. It was also nice to hear Andrew together with Ed.
Wolfmother rocked the house and warmed our hearts for the boys of PJ to slip right on in and feel at home.

I would be honoured to welcome all of them back next year!

    P.S. : didn't see any 'message pit' badges ... :?

Unfortunately, i was not lucky enough, to be in the first rows....i only managed to e in the middle of teh arena, as there were 2 blokes making sure, i was not going to go any further....and none of them woud have given me a lift for a slam...which is quite weird for a roch show isn't it?

I'm really looking forward to see them in Paris, and i'll hopefully make it earlier, to the show, like this i'll be able to top thebarrier, but in Paris, i think they will be some crowd surfing as therer were some in 96 and 2000 whan they last toured to Paris.

I hope they'll start out with something else than Corduroy, as the 2 shows i've intended so far ,have began with this song...Been waiting so long to see them, and i'm already moaning...

although I can't compare I got the feeling we were given a special treat.
I'm so glad that I could change the date of my exam from 'the day after' to friday, not that I able to study at this point, I'm still recapturing those magic moments.

Jeeez!!!!! The greatest hits show last night in Arnhem kicked ass, but tonight was really unbelievable!

From the sigh of relief the (Belgian) audience gave when the boys (finally, after 15 years) took the stage, to Hunger Strike. This was one helluva night!!!

Damn, I thought 2 shows in 2 days could satisfy my apetite for the next 5-6 years, but I want more. I need more....

Hopefully they'll honour their promise to return next year.

Peace and props to you Belgium fans from a long time Boston fan...
you guys deserved a stellar show and Hunger Strike to boot! (excuse the pun)...

I will be purchasing this Bootleg for sure..
