I think your question has been answered. PJ isn't playing the Liberty Jam because PJ isn't endorsing Ron Paul. What are you looking for here???

I just think that Ron Paul's ideas would go hand in hand with Pearl Jam's. They supported Nader, but no Ron Paul what gives?

I don't think that PJ's views match Ron Paul's very much at all. I don't believe they have economically conservative views at all, and don't support lowering taxes and limiting regulation in many arenas at all, and certainly wouldn't support cutting corporate taxes. Ron Paul supports restoring Bush-era tax cuts. I also believe PJ supports universal health care, and RP is against. He also thinks that prayer should come back into public schools and doesn't think church and state should be separated, is against spending regulations in campaigning, thinks the government should not be involved in the education system, and he is against gun control. He has some odd ideas about sexual harassment, and he is pro-life. He supports privatizing public land and selling off national parks for crying out loud, he thinks that environmental standards should be determined at the state level, and is against government incentives to use clean energy, and he doesn't think that the environment/climate change is a major threat to the world.

I have no idea at all where you got the idea that his views and PJ's align well. They don't even come close on many issues. PJ wouldn't support this guy in a million years.[/quote]

I'm not sure where you got your misinformation but that is not what Ron Paul represents at all. WOW!!!

... yeeaaaah, it is. I got my information mostly from quotes straight out of the man's mouth. I'm sure at this point he's busy spinning - you need to look at what he has actually said and supported over the years to know what he represents, not listen to what he's spinning now during his campaign. Wow to you thinking PJ has beliefs that match up with his; that tells me that you don't really know what RP actually does believe when it comes to specific issues (and that you don't understand that PJ is pretty much far left, including economics).

Ron Paul is still in the race and is doing very well, he just stopped campaigning to focus more on a delegate strategy. Just because he is running as a republican, doesn't mean that his views are aligned with the GOP.

Yes this thread is a bit silly because I can easily see that PJ fans are nonpolitical and are illinformed sheep of the biased mass media.

How did you reach that conclusion from what I said?? The Democrats aren't far left either. Only closer to it than RP and/or the Republicans. And what is this communist bullshit? Do you even know what communism is??? I guess not.

Well I can get to the heart of why Pearl Jam SHOULD support Ron Paul.

    Ron Paul is anti war.
    Pearl Jam is anti war.

    Obama is pro war.
    Romney is pro war.

It is my opinion that if you are for Obama or Romney you are for occupation and war. If you are for Ron Paul you are for peace.

It is that simple to me.

What about all the other shit???
And if you're for Obama or Romney you are for war??? Gimme a break. Especially if you actually think that RP getting into office would stop America from getting involved in wars. Don't make me laugh! RP is a politician on the campaign trail. That means you shouldn't believe a single word he says. There is no way he'd suddenly make America non-aggressive, and no way would he not be looking out for American oil interests, just like any other politician.

Ron Paul did not drop out, and assuming that a candidate can be tossed off simply by what banner they are behind is incredibly short sighted. If you're disgusted with the state of the republican party then you should be more interested than anyone else about an attempt to wrestle the party more to the left/libertarian angle and isolate the neo-cons/military industrial complex.

I also suggest those that are saying you can't trust a word Ron Paul says should look at his voting record in congress and see that he has a proven record of standing to his word.

  • ok my bad. I have had very little time to follow closely a race that is clearly going in Mitt Romney's favor. I should have not responded to your ridiculous thread. I took this literally:

"In the long drama that is Mitt Romney's relationship with the Tea Party, symbolism can mean a lot.

Like the candidate's red-meat speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference that likely helped him win a straw poll. Or sharing the stage with Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida, a Tea Party love. And, most recently, meeting in secret with Rand Paul, a freshman senator who is the son of Ron Paul, the last Republican presidential candidate to drop out of the race, and favorite of the Tea Party brand."

It's not just campaign promises; he actually has a voting record in Congress that is in line with his declared positions. He voted against the Iraq War and if you're interested in his reasons why, here is his speech from the House floor in October 2002:

Actually we won't know who is winning or has won until the GOP convention in August in Tampa. Candidates are picked by delegates and so far Ron Paul has the most unbound delegates in the race. Votes really don't count and even with the all-in states delegates are considered unbound. There have been about 12 state conventions to pick these delegates and so far Ron Paul has won just about all of them. You can't rely on Faux news for your news.
