Yeah, I really wish I knew where the boys stood with their political views

With that lineup, I'm not sure how they can decline, though...

Here's anothe chance for Pearl Jam to do something really positive on a global scale.

    Ron Paul Supporters Planning Festival

    Richard Danielson
    Tampa Bay Times
    May 28, 2012
Supporters of presidential candidate Ron Paul are negotiating to hold a three-day festival of music, entertainment and activism at the Florida State Fairgrounds immediately before the Republican National Convention.
Paul Festival 2012 would run from Aug. 24-26, ending the day before the convention begins.
Details like ticket prices and who would be on stage have not been announced, but the festival could draw 20,000 or more people per day, estimated Deborah Robinet, an organizer who lives near San Diego.

Backspacer was pretty much void of any politics and the tours were pretty much void of political talk.

I agree 100% Ed should back RP, he's more real than Nader ever was and light years ahead of Obama as far as not being a puppet or a fraud.

I would fucking love just to hear what Ed has to say about Obama now, 3 years later, after all that support he game him. Will he man up like Tom Morello and admit he misplaced his trust? Or has he allowed himself the illusion that Obama isn't just another corporate whore and is actually good for this country.

Exactly. There is no way they would support Ron Paul.... and we know this because they are pretty fucking clear about their politics, which is largely expressed through their causes.

I think your question has been answered. PJ isn't playing the Liberty Jam because PJ isn't endorsing Ron Paul. What are you looking for here???

Not sure if the Greens have had their convention and/or if they have someone pushing for ballot access. Their platform on economic issues is heavily left where Libertarians are heavily right.

Libertarians are not left or right, they are for the constitution and personal liberties which is actually closer to the left of all things. Many libertarian views also align with Liberalism.

True, but their views on economic policy are rooted in the Austrian school's model; capitalism and free markets vs. government controls and social programs. The Greens tend more toward the latter, as does Pearl Jam as an entity (as far as I can tell). For the record, I am a card-carrying Libertarian.

I don't think that PJ's views match Ron Paul's very much at all. I don't believe they have economically conservative views at all, and don't support lowering taxes and limiting regulation in many arenas at all, and certainly wouldn't support cutting corporate taxes. Ron Paul supports restoring Bush-era tax cuts. I also believe PJ supports universal health care, and RP is against. He also thinks that prayer should come back into public schools and doesn't think church and state should be separated, is against spending regulations in campaigning, thinks the government should not be involved in the education system, and he is against gun control. He has some odd ideas about sexual harassment, and he is pro-life. He supports privatizing public land and selling off national parks for crying out loud, he thinks that environmental standards should be determined at the state level, and is against government incentives to use clean energy, and he doesn't think that the environment/climate change is a major threat to the world.

I have no idea at all where you got the idea that his views and PJ's align well. They don't even come close on many issues. PJ wouldn't support this guy in a million years. If you think they are similar in political views, then you are delusional or in denial or something.
