^^ :( for the folks in Europe who aren't getting their NY&CH fix this month.

I scored Jim Jarmusch's "Year of the Horse" DVD secondhand today & am watching it now. It's great watching this having seen 2 shows of their's in March. :)

Picked this up recently from a great website (The Book Depository), for half the price it is in stores.

I sell used books for a living so I'll spend some time checking other used books stores first before ordering on-line. Not opposed to doing so, but I always like to give other brick and mortar stores a chance first. Will definitely be watching for one in any case! :)

Here's a link to an interesting article about Neil's Pono player.

Oh, the reasons I miss staying up for Letterman! The article includes a video of Neil being interviewed by Dave Letterman. Very cool. Enjoy!

Neil played a new song at a 300-capacity club in Somerville last night. That would have blown my mind!

Holy shit! Poncho broke his hand? :( Ahhh man...

    Just found this:

    http://www.theguardian.com/music/2013/a ... world-tour

In April, Sampedro said Neil Young and Crazy Horse were getting too old to tour. "My gut tells me this is really the last tour," he told Rolling Stone. "It just seems at some point something is going to break."

Ha ha, yeah Poncho really seems to have jinxed himself there!

There are plenty of people on Neil's Facebook post complaining because Crazy Horse cancelled the tour but Neil is still playing at Pegi's shows. I kinda get their point but I'm not sure a Neil solo show would have gone down too well at festivals when people were expecting The Horse

  • Seeing Uncle Neil next weekend at Farm Aid! Can't wait, especially if he and CH are actually considering halting touring altogether.
  • Right now I'm listening to an acoustic concert Neil did in 1992 called Centerstage. The song "Natural Beauty" is bringing me to tears-it's very lovely. Acoustic Neil is my favorite Neil.

Neil Young will release Live At The Cellar Door, the latest in his Archives Performance Series, on November 26th on Reprise Records. The album collects recordings made during Young's intimate six-show solo stand at The Cellar Door in Washington D.C. between November 30th and December 2nd, 1970, a few months after Reprise released his classic third solo album After The Gold Rush in August.

The album, which features Young performing on acoustic guitar and piano, includes tracks that are interesting for several reasons, such as stunning live versions of songs that appeared on After The Gold Rush ("Tell Me Why," "Only Love Can Break Your Heart," "Birds," "Don't Let It Bring You Down" and the title track) and solo performances of the Buffalo Springfield songs "Expecting To Fly" (from their 1967 second album Buffalo Springfield Again), "I Am A Child" (from their third and final album Last Time Around and Young's 1977 Decade compilation), and "Flying On The Ground Is Wrong," from their 1966 self-titled debut.

In addition, Live At The Cellar Door features early, raw performances of songs that wouldn't appear until subsequent Young albums, including the rarity "Bad Fog Of Loneliness" (which appears on Live At Massey Hall '71 - released in 2007-but was previously unreleased until the studio band version was included on Archives Vol. 1 1963-1972), "Old Man" (released two years later on 1972's Harvest album), a rare solo performance of "Cinnamon Girl" on piano (the full band version appears on Young's 1969 second solo album Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere), and "Down By The River," also from Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere.

Live At The Cellar Door was recorded by Henry Lewy and produced by Young.

As with Young's previous releases in the Archives series, Live At The Cellar Door will be released digitally, on CD, and on 180-gram vinyl (mastered by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering and pressed at Pallas in Germany).

The track-listing for Live At The Cellar Door is as follows:

    Side One:
    Tell Me Why
Only Love Can Break Your Heart
    After The Gold Rush
    Expecting To Fly
    Bad Fog Of Loneliness
    Old Man
    Birds

    Side One:
Don’t Let It Bring You Down
See The Sky About To Rain
    Cinnamon Girl
    I Am A Child
    Down By The River
Flying On The Ground Is Wrong

This seems like a strange one to release to me. 7 of the songs are already on Live at Massey hall, 3 are on Live at The Riverboat and 2 were on the Sugar Mountain record. Also, where does it fit in the series if it's a 1970 concert?

Volume 00: Sugar Mountain - Live at Canterbury House 1968
Volume 01: Live at the Riverboat 1969
Volume 02: Live at the Fillmore East 1970
Volume 03: Live at Massey Hall 1971

I know Neil has been choosing the Archive shows carefully - and none of the Archives releases have disappointed so far - I'm just surprised that he's releasing a 13 song album collected from recordings of six different shows and there aren't other songs that could have been included instead of repeats.

I'm not really complaining - I'll still buy it and I'm sure it'll be worth it. Like I said none of the Archives have disappointed so far. I guess I'm just impatient to hear want some Archives releases from the mid-70s. :)

  • I recently bought Live at Massey Hall from 1971 on vinyl, and I think it is one of the best live albums I have ever heard. Seriously, I can't get enough of it. A classic album in a classic venue. I have huge respect for Uncle Neil's talent. It's one of those recordings I wish I was alive to see in person.

Oh god yes. The sound quality of this vinyl is as good as it gets. You get so much added atmosphere.
  • Neil telling like it is at Farm Aid a month ago. He may have talked more than sang that set, but he's still the man. We need more people to get the message across.

I was thinking about it but I spent too much money on this PJ tour. Ending up selling my MBV tix too (show is next week). The only tix I know have is for Phosphorescent in December.

I'm surprised NY is doing more solo shows. I went to one in April 2011 and it was spectacular.

I saw a few singles on Friday, if there is a drop of 2 I might have to jump on it.
