Good! At least these GOPers have to show their true, bigoted colors now.

Americans know better and support traditional marriage."

I can't stand this woman! How is wanting equality for all practicing division? Isn't that what the republicans are doing by not wanting everyone to have the same rights? And he's more in touch with families than she is considering he won a presidential election and she didn't get very far in her circus

I don't like Obama, I'm not gay, I want gays to be treated equally, especially if the government is going to decide what a marriage is.

A bigot doesn't believe everyone deserves the same rights. You look in the mirror and decide for yourself.

Calling everyone gay though? Very 3rd grade. "I disagree so you're all gay!"

    Keep it mature...

i think many of you are forgetting obama has this habit of saying something but not really doing anything about it. like closing gitmo, getting israel to stop expanding its illegal settlements. sure, obama and biden threw out some tough sounding soundbites towards israel and the settlements but what were they DOING at this same time? finalizing one of the biggest arms deals to israel and giving them more financial aid. obviously they didn't care that much

so he said he supports it....big fucking deal, what's he gonna DO about it? absolutely nothing!

I understand your point, but he can't do the things you listed without support/approval/cooperation form others.
And, for some of the things you listed, he would need cooperation from the Republicans and Bibi Netanyahu. Not gonna happen. He is going to leave the issue of gay marriage up to the states.

uh yeah, he could have not sold them all those weapons, which technically is illegal since israel is violating so many laws.

ok, how about this one - he campaigned saying "any health care reform passed MUST have at least a public option." the democrats had the majority. they dragged their feet for over a year and obama said pass it with a simple majority (while asking them to leave out the public option when it had enough votes to pass)

so he's leaving it up to the states? so, he supports it but isn't gonna do jack shit about it

I see this as another move that, ironically, provides evidence that President Obama's team wants to try to change focus to social issues. To me, this helps his cause in two ways:

    1) Rally the base
    2) Change the subject from the economy

...I've seen this happen twice so far. Looking forward to the third - perhaps this summer. Wondering what other issues they could push next.

Aside - did anyone notice the market is tanking and the jobs numbers don't looks so good, then there's Europe,... and then this big news...

ha ha... yep, he's not trying to change the subject or anything.

Jacob Lew (CoS): Mr. President, we're going to Clooney's on Thursday. We're gonna have to talk about gay marriage.
    Obama: Shit.
Lew: Well, sir, it is being held at Clooney's house.
Obama: Really? Will Stacey be there?
    Lew: Stacy Keibler? Yes.
    Obama: Allll Righhhhhtt!!
Jim Messina (Campaign Manager): Sir, getting back to gay marriage...
Obama: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Look, I don't want to take the hit on this one. What's Biden doing?
    Messina: Sir?
Obama: Look, we send Biden to a Sunday morning show and let him be...well, Biden!
Lew: Sir, I'm not sure that's the best plan.
Obama: Oh hell yeah it is! Great thing about Joe is, he never prepares! So I tell him to be non-committal committal when gay marriage is asked. He'll fuck it up so much that no one will understand what the fuck our position is. Then we set up an one on one interview with me on a network. Then, by voicing my personal opinion, I can go to Hollywood and say I did something for the gay community!
Messina: Sir, that's just dumb enough to work!
Obama: That's why I love America!

Just saw this and already six pages of posts. I suppose it's possible that this is just a political move as some here have stated but I don't get that sense and it's great to hear the president come right out and give same sex marriage his support . Well done, Mr. President!

It's typical cheer-leading. People who root this sort of behavior on - show themselves as Democratic operatives. They put the "D" letter before the actual issues and implementation of policies they support. If you pretend you're going to do something they should cheer on, as if they are a "studio audience" they applaud. See video of them:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0xtUfjv4zE

Clearly, if it was another topic, under different circumstances, Republican operatives pom-poms would be shown too. It's not just Dems. It's simply people putting party before "implementation of policy".

But, at the end of the day, it basically shows the lack of objectivity and shows how ignorant people are.

This guy they are cheering is the same guy who had Rendell saying this "yesterday"...

Nit that I have a say, but I totally agree with you. Plus, I honestly believe that Obama is a genuinely good man (not that that helps anyone in politics). He's a good man in A crowd with a lot of creeps in it... that makes things tough. I know some might doubt this opinion, but I don't care. I still believe it.

I heard Bill Maher on a local radio station yesterday say that he felt in Obama's first term we got the "white" presidency and that his second term we'd get the "black" presidency.

If a conservative had said that, the world would go nuts. Maher was saying it in what he felt was a good way.
