IT IS TOO AGGRESSIVE TOWARDS WHO?
He said it jokingly, and everyone laughed. I didn't take it aggressively at all. I was glad it discouraged people from yelling out names of songs.0 -

He said it, but it wasn't aggressive. And it kept people from yelling out stupid requests all night and being annoying.Chicago 2000 : Chicago 2003 : Chicago 2006 : Summerfest 2006 : Lollapalooza 2007 : Chicago 2009 : Noblesville (Indy) 2010 : PJ20 (East Troy) 2011 : Wrigley Field 2013 : Milwaukee (Yield) 2014 : Wrigley Field 20160 -
pj.uw.laura wrote:That was me! It was my husband. I said, "Eddie, this is my husband. He's an Iraq vet." Ed said, "Well I'm glad you're home safe." He shook both of our hands, and he looked at me and said, "That must have been..." and he sort of held his fist to his heart (as in, that must have been tough for you). My husband said, "Thanks for keeping her sane while I was gone." I said, "Yeah, I went to a few shows while he was gone." Ed laughed and then moved on. What a night!
Another funny thing that happened, I'm not sure if you saw this or not, but there was a blond girl and a few guys she was with. They kept saying, "Ed's gone, I definitely saw him in the van. Go to the Four Seasons in 10 minutes if you want to meet him. I promise you guys, he definitely left." So then their little group left, and a half an hour later, the white van comes back, and Ed comes out- classic!
I was there too! That girl indicated that Ed had just left in the van and that Jess was with. She said "Ed doesn't go anywhere without Jess" (his bodyguard I take it?). I looked into the van as it left and was sure Eddie wasn't in there. She then explained that she was a professional at this and that everyone is now wasting time because ED had left. She and her group left. We figured out that Ed had to be inside. Security was still guarding the alley, and we figured Eddie would have, at the very least, waved to the 20 of us. Then we decided that the white van had to be returning one more time. Sure enough....the van comes back we waited some more and the rest is history!! I'm 38 years old and began to ponder what I was doing waiting over two hours after a show to meet Eddie. Was I nuts! I've got kids, it's 2AM! After meeting ED I was sure it was the right thing to do! I can't describe the feeling! After wanting to meet him for the past 18 years I finally got the chance. It was a brief encounter but Ed made it somehow feel heartfelt. Shook my hand twice, looked me in the eye etc. I was at a loss for words. What do you say in such a short encounter? I managed to thank him for the great show and told him how incredible ARC was. He thanked me and moved on. He returned shook my hand again and I told him that I had been to Bonnaroo and SC this summer and the shows were incredible! I then thanked him and said GOD Bless YOU! My friend and I talked about meeting ED the whole way home (30 mins) as if we had spent an hour with him. Anyway, it was an awesome night!
The guy that caused security to call the cops was claiming to Be ED's cousin. He got removed from the theater at least two times but kept making it back! At one point he came out of the alley. Security told him that they had given Ed the message and that Ed didn't want to see him! LOL! That guy was everywhere and I doubt he was Ed's cousin. It was amusing!0 -

Yes!! The "professional" girl who knows how to meet Ed made sure we all knew that he was gone. Then, sure enough, he came out after she and her friends left!
There is no way that drunk guy was Ed's cousin. I'm sure in the last 17 years, Ed has suddenly enountered thousands of long lost "cousins" now that he is who he is. That guy by the alley was a jackass who kept causing a ruckus for everyone else. Even if he was Ed's cousin, they clearly aren't close, because otherwise Ed would have had him backstage, or at least would have acknowledged him somehow.
That's great that Ed shook your hand twice! What a great night!0 -

There was an asshole there with a police dept. t-shirt on, I forget from where. He said he knew Eddie. I doubted it because of his asshole attitude. But he pushed his way to the front of the line when Eddie came out, and said "what's up Eddie?" and Eddie said "Hey Frank How Ya Doin'?" (or something along those lines).
The next night (Friday) I seen this same asshole come out with a crowd of people who were wearing those VIP stickers.A child's rhyme stuck in my head...
It said "Life is nothing but a dream."
I've spent so many years in question
To find I'd known this all along.0 -

I know alot of you want to hear 'hurt' from this show. Send me a pm with your email addy and I'll hook you up!I will swallow poison0

Definitely worth a listen...the recordings I got for both chicago shows are not so bad...and it was very nice reliving this show! I was also going to offer to share as well, but this board made me feel guilty about that for some reason...not the same as trading back in the 90's....| valerie |

I agree. I never really liked the Concrete Blonde version and was unfamiliar with Nick Cave's version. The feeling that Ed puts into this song is unbelievable. Also, Sometimes was great with the crowd sing along. He said "I can hear you...it's good, it's good" when he hear the crowd sing with him.
If I knew where it was I would take you there. There's much more than this0 -
I drank a lot of Heineken's at this show!

Yes ... that would rock.
There have been multiple threads asking for boots from the tour!
How bout ...
Dear Ed,
Well the cubs didn't go all the way, but Obama did! In celebration of this will you please release a few boots from your awesome tour?
Hope is Obama's message. It certainly opened the hearts and minds of many which was a welcome relief.
A little more relief would be great! I'm hoping you answer our hopeful pleas. Think about it. At least release Chicago I in honor of Obama. Help mark this historical time with your music.
And who knows, with this beautiful wave of hope flowing forth maybe the Cubs will soon go all the way.
One can dream and one can hope!
peace & love,
