First off, the line Ed mentioned about set lists was genius. Something like:
"I've been doing this for 17 years so I don't need some fucking amateurs helping me out...."
Hurt
Better Man (slow)
Hard Sun
were ridiculous!!!!
Worth every penny to fly in from the dirty south (Dallas).

Found the song on my own. Interesting, but that overemoted caricature baritone he uses sometimes really bothers me. He does it a lot in the song, especially the 'everything' in the last line of the first verse. It could've been more of a Crazy Mary kind of feel. But it's still cool I guess.0

What was the setlist for night 2. Night one was fantastic.0

I know this is a long shot, but I thought it would be worth a try. On Thursday night, at some point during or after the show, I lost my ticket (Pit row DDD). I'm hoping that someone on this board may have come across it and picked it up. Because that show was particularly memorable, the ticket has sentimental value to me, and I'd like to get it back if possible.
If someone does happen to have it, and is willing to return it to me, I could offer cash, a poster, posters, or a donation to a charity of that person's choosing as a reward. I'm completely open for discussion.
Please respond on this thread, or via pm if you happen to have it, or know somebody who might. If I don't get it back, it's not the end of the world or anything, but I thought this was worth a shot. Thanks!0 -
is this boot out at all if so please someone pm me where to find it.0

I believe he actually said fucking rookies, but close enough I suppose. Either way it was a great line, and I thought set the tone for the crowd being cool and not yelling stupid random shit out all night.0 -
This show was definitely my favorite out of the two nights. Eddie was in such a fun, good mood.. The music was excellent and for some reason, it seemed really emotionally intense. My eyes teared up every now and then (like many people, when Tomas Young was on stage).. When Eddie sang I am Mine, I got a little emotional.. For some reason that song gets to me.. The crowd was wonderful. I was unfortunately directly behind the guy who pissed himself so that sucked but it wasn't enough to ruin the night for me.0

I went to Milwaukee and both Chicago shows and this was definitely my favorite of the 3. I didn't know the meaning behind Arc before this show but the girl I went with told me so that gave the song a whole new meaning.
Before the show, I ate at the restaurant on Michigan Ave. right by the back alley where Eddie came in and out of the theater. I was wearing an ITW shirt and this guy comes up to me and says I should talk to the waiter because Eddie Vedder was there eating like 20 minutes ago. So I ask the waiter and he says no, it was Eddie Van Halen. I asked him if he was sure it wasn't Eddie Vedder. He said the guy had kind of long, scraggly hair. I said, "That sounds like Eddie Vedder!" The waiter says, "No, he has some concert tonight." I said, "That's Eddie Vedder!" Again, the waiter said no, that he was performing at the United Center and he was certain it was Eddie Van Halen. So... I don't know which Eddie it was.
Also, I met Eddie after the show, right at the end of the back alley on the sidewalk of Michigan Avenue! The girl I was with and I waited and he came out at 1:45 A.M. There were a couple of decoy departures by the white van, but the friendly security guard led us to think (without actually telling us) that Eddie was still in the theater. Special thanks to the asshole who went off on the security guards who nicely asked us to clear a path for the alley since it was an emergency exit and he and his buddies refused to move saying, "This is public property, blah, blah, blah." That got us a little visit by the Chicago police telling us all we had to leave or otherwise be arrested for trespassing. Huh, funny... once the cops showed up, guess who was the first one out of there, hiding out behind the bus stop? Asshole and his buddies. Why didn't you try your rant about the sidewalk being public property to the cops? And the cop made some comment, "If you think you're going to see a celebrity or something tonight, you're not, they've already left." Whatever, dude. Well, everybody spread out down the street and the cops eventually left and we made our way back to the alley.
Anyway... 1:45, Eddie's guard comes down the alley and says Eddie is going to sign one thing for everybody and that if he sees even one camera, Eddie won't come down. Then here comes Eddie frickin' Vedder strolling down the alley, with a cigarette hanging out his mouth. It was so surreal! There were maybe 20 or so people left. We had all been bull-shitting all night, but when Eddie got down to us, suddenly we were all speechless! When he saw how many people were there, he said he didn't want to sign anything but he would stay and talk for a minute. He shook every person's hand and looked each and every one of us in the eyes. Afterwards, the girl I was with commented how long he shook our hands. Finally, we determined that we were the ones that let go of the hand shake. Eddie didn't let go until each person was ready to let go. Damn it! Why didn't I hold on longer? Of course I had so much I wanted to say to him, but all I was able to get out was thank you and it was a great show. The only person who really said anything else was this girl that said her husband/boyfriend (can't remember) was an Iraq veteran and Eddie said he was glad he was back safe.
After a couple minutes, Eddie headed back down the alley, hopped into the front seat of the van and rolled out on his way. He had his window down, arm hanging out with the cigarette in his hand and I don't know if he said anything or not... I was too overwhelemed by what just happened. After he was gone, I was shaking and started crying... well, more like sobbing. The girl I was with started crying, too. Then we were lauging through our tears because we couldn't believe how emotional we were about meeting Ed. It was one of the best moments of my life, even though I didn't get to tell Ed what he truly means to me. AND, the best part of it all was that after having this awesome experience, I got to go to another show the next day! What a great dream come true!0 -

What the...? Which night was that, Thursday or Friday? Because I waited till about 2:30 AM after the Friday show (I didn't have anything else to do that night) and never saw him. I should have stayed up Thursday night and skipped work! I have a copy of Betterman slow version from night one in Chicago. The picture is sort of bad because I was trying to limit the light exposure from my camera to keep from bothering those around me, but the sound quality is good.
Thing is, I can only figure out how to download the avi file to my desktop. If someone wants to pm me their email address, I can email it to you and then have you post it (how nice of you~!)
And before anyone asks, I don't have a copy of Hurt. I only wanted to record one song because I didn't want my camera to be a distraction and I don't really care for that song to begin with.
(let me know if this is against the rules. I've lurked this board for years but never have posted anything like this before. Thanks!)0 -

That was me! It was my husband. I said, "Eddie, this is my husband. He's an Iraq vet." Ed said, "Well I'm glad you're home safe." He shook both of our hands, and he looked at me and said, "That must have been..." and he sort of held his fist to his heart (as in, that must have been tough for you). My husband said, "Thanks for keeping her sane while I was gone." I said, "Yeah, I went to a few shows while he was gone." Ed laughed and then moved on. What a night!
Another funny thing that happened, I'm not sure if you saw this or not, but there was a blond girl and a few guys she was with. They kept saying, "Ed's gone, I definitely saw him in the van. Go to the Four Seasons in 10 minutes if you want to meet him. I promise you guys, he definitely left." So then their little group left, and a half an hour later, the white van comes back, and Ed comes out- classic!0 -
