op, do you ever have anything positive to say about, well, anything?
seems you dwell on the negative.uke can save the world0 -
I still like the PJ ticketing system better than DMB or the lottery stuff. Just get a little better bandwith and let it fly... space shows out so they don't get clustered together, and its all good.
Outside of the recent year they've always been fine. It's stressful, but Id rather battle it out than enter a lottery thats out of your hands.
anyway... if DMB's system uses a lottery and no seniority its comparing apples to oranges anyway. Its not like they do it the same as the TC but with a smoother process.0 -

the point is that PJ hasn't done this (although the new system is somewhat similar), and that it could help out with some of the recent problems with ticketing.0 -
They tour less these days because they can't come close to selling out places outside Chicago and the Northeast on a full tour. Having a lottery sounds good, but the real solution is doing as they do now without a complete system collapse, which I think they can pull off and will...I'm just hoping it happens sooner rather than later. And like others have said, no seniority drives the demand through the roof (esp with a lottery) because anyone can join at any time and get a crack at truly the best seats in the house without putting in the time to get the tickets. Even though you don't go through the headaches, the chances of you getting tickets is significantly reduced.
Now I don't believe that someone should have to take a day off of work to get tickets without being able to find out that day whether they can get tickets or not, so they need to fix their current system from complete collapses that have happened as of late. However, the solution does not include completely abandoning the principle idea of seniority and NOT using ticketmaster whenever possible. That shouldn't change. I joined in 2003 so I'm the definition of having an average 10c # and I've paid my dues like everyone else. That part works, but I am all for certain tweaks that would make sense.
I took this from a friend's FB page earlier today - he is a warehouse member and has been since 99. He has gone to every Saratoga Springs show for DMB since that time (his local show) and while I'm not sure how many shows that's been, I guarantee it's been a lot.0 -

hmmmm...let see... I've been in the 10C for a dozen, and WAS in Dave matthews Warehouse for a couple years. DM site has a lottery for there tickets in which if you don't get seniority seating you'll get general seating. I think one year I went to four shows and got seniority for two and general for two....which didn't bother me since I was new and my seniority was horrible. But the one thing that i did like was that there was no stress in getting tickets. I just logged on... not exactly the minute they opened...I think I waited a couple of hours and in one case a day after they opened ticket sales and just placed my order. You do have to wait and hear what you got, but just knowing your getting in is a pretty cool thing. PJ..my favorite band, is a little more stressful in getting tickets. For the most part Ive done well getting tickets until the Ed Shows and Vancouver last go around.. While I do get better seats...It is more stressful. I have to be on the site the second they go on sale..or your SOL. There is just more stress involved. Personally I think were all are still hoping that the issues that we have had to deal with: the servers, and tickets being kicked, and refreshing for two hours, and..all that is over. But in the end...people have complained to know end... The Band isn't pulling the strings on this... its the TC management.. .. As a fan..i'm gonna do what ever I have to do to get tickets. I just hope things are easier in the future... It wasn't always like this. Hmmmm... oh...other than tickets... I did also like that you were able to get measurement sizes for all shirts..and were able to click and drag the picture to a shirt and see close ups if need be. Thats about it. Im not in the Warehouse anymore... But there is always room for improvement when it comes to getting tickets. ... Home townTC members first like they used to or ...well there dozens of threads on this sooo.... you get my drift.0

I don't really agree with this. while it would have given me better seats at the Winnipeg show, there are loads of people who don't get hometown shows, so those people are SOL. I'd almost be more willing to give the travellers the better seats.Gimli 1993

I joined the Warehouse for one year and then let my membership expire. The only reason I joined was to get tickets for shows in my hometown, Charlottesville...home of the Dave. Anyway, it was stress free, got tickets for the show through the Warehouse...and they were upper deck. I went on the public sale on Livenation and ended up with much much better seats in the lower bowl. My buddy has been a member for over 10 years and regulary gets shut out for tickets.
As for the GA pit section at every show, never at any of the shows I've been to. Of course, I won't travel to see DMB.Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of
arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to
slide in sideways, BBQ sandwich in one hand, cold beer in the other,
body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "Woo Hoo what a
ride"!

So, if I join "The Warehouse" do I get better tickets to Pearl Jam then?

Ya but that thing is kinda BS. I only joined in 2005 and I travel a hell of a lot to see this band so one could argue i deserve better seats than some people who just joined in 92 back in the day who only go to the shows played in their back yard n download their songs off limewire.

Sawyer wrote:no, not a fan of the band....though I did manage Alpine tickets....pavillion too and I joined in January as an experiment. Anyway, there were four series of shows to choose from based on the date. It is somewhat a lottery and DMB always has a GA Pit in front of seating (brilliant). They give a date window to put shows you want and a credit card and then they select. No refreshing...no stress....no hassle. Is there a chance some one could come up with no seats....yes. But I will say this system is pretty close to flawless and they tour a hell of a lot more and still handle it within their infrastructure.....easy....thats all. Its what ticketing should look like.
Sounds similar to what the 10c used for 2 Euro '12 dates and the EV '12 tour, does it not?2000: Manchester

I have been in the Ten Club since 1998 or 1999. I have been in the DMB Warehouse since 2002. The DMB ticketing system is so much better than the Ten Club. In both, people will always complain if they get shut out of tickets or don't like their seat locations - it's unavoidable.
In the Ten Club, people will also complain because of the constant technical problems and the overall stress involved in getting tickets. Nobody can say that with the Warehouse. It's time for the Ten Club to license this system........0 -
Other then all this talk about which band's website has better fan club ticket experiences ..
DMB? Really?0 -

Thank you....thats all i was trying to say.....it would work great. Just an improvement is all. The one peccadillo I noticed with the Warehouse is they send fan tix via USPS and my guess is people scalp the hell out of them at times. Other than that its pretty flawless0 -

Here's my experience with the DMB ticketing service. I got charged $15 or $16 for "express" shipping, it was the only option for ticket delivery. My ticket came the week of the concert even though I bought my ticket months in advance. Strike one.
The concert was suppose to happen to be the weekend when Hurricane Irene was hitting NYC. Communication was poor, and they did not cancel the concert until the day of, many hours after Mayor Bloomberg had declared a state of emergency in NYC. Information to get my refund was not emailed to me, I had to find out about it on my own and almost missed the deadline to get my refund. And yeah, the dumb express shipping fee was not part of the refund. Strike two.
I emailed the DMB fan club about my dismay at the handling of the situation and lack of communication. I got a response.... 3 months later. Strike three.
So if you want to look at it in isolation as to whether the ticketing service is better, go ahead. But I think the DMB crew can learn a bunch from 10c and PJ as well about the handling of other things if we're going to do the comparison game.0
