Did the replacement refs come back this week? I only saw 3 games, and crazy shit and incredibly blown calls were part of all 3. During this NYJ/NE game the refs appear confused. I can't believe all the confusion over a simple spot.

yeah, people are realizing that the 'real' refs are just as shitty as the replacements. Might make sense for the NFL to finally go with full time employees to call the games. You would think this would be obvious

Also, how the hell does marvin lewis still have a job? His teams suck annually.

Funny...I was thinking the same about Lewis.

I've heard a bit about full time refs. How would that make them better? Not looking for an argument, just curious, would they be reviewing film, looking at blown calls etc. during the week.

I was just looking at Marvin's record. I didn't realize he had been there that long, this is his 10th season. In the 9 previous seasons he only had three winning seasons, three .500 seasons and three losing seasons. Just looking at the stats, it would appear that the way he's managed to keep his job is that those winning seasons were spread out across his career. He started off slow, had a good season, slowed down for a couple seasons, had a good season, etc. Each time they had a winning season they made it to the AFC Wild Card game. I'm sure if he'd had more bad seasons in a row he would have been canned, but he always manages to put together a good season whenever it looks like he should be on the edge of unemployment.

I know he's been there a while...with so little success.

Well they did bring in Newman...obviously they did not watch any Cowboy games from last season :lol::lol:.

Cincy has a weird culture. The owner, Mike Brown, is the GM and it is apparent to me he is fine with losing as long as he makes money. I think he keeps Lewis because .... well to stay under the radar and spend as little as possible. But it's probably because Lewis is his friend. Brown doesn't have the right skill sets to manage a winning franchise.

Under 21 years of ownership under Mike Brown, they have had three winning seasons and a .361 winning percentage.

Man, I feel sorry for any Bengals fans out there. :?

Based on the current standings, the AFC sucks this year.

Even the Colts are in the Wild Card hunt right now.

has he even won a playoff game?

I know people will get bent outta shape over this comment, but if he were white he would have been canned years ago. You know why there aren't many black coaches in the nfl?? because they aren't enough good candidates. look at past train wrecks...marv lewis, ray rhodes, romeo crennel, herm edwards, jim caldwell, art shell, raheem morris, etc. dungy and tomlin have been good, but they seem to be exceptions to the rule. the rooney rule needs to be amended

    From article:
    7. Green Bay Packers (4-3)
    Last week: 8
The loss of Charles Woodson for at least four weeks is devastating, and it's a setback the Packers don't need just as they're finding their groove. The silver lining? The groove's been found because Aaron Rodgers has shifted his game from pretty good to mind-blowing, and if he keeps putting up QB ratings in the 130s, the Pack could go with 10 men on defense and still win most of their games.

I'll bet there's a few other things that Arod does that are mind blowing :o

I wonder how long ESPN is going to run that Cam Newton press conference into the ground. I've seen it 100 times now. It's not even that good of a sound-byte. "Something's gotta change"? He's right, they're 1-5. And from the way ESPN is milking it you'd think it was some Ozzie style clubhouse tirade, but he was just quiet and telling the truth, albeit in a very defeated manner.

I was actually looking for that thread. Especially after this stupid Jalen Rose stunt. Who would actually bet all of their hair, goatee, and eyebrows that the Lions would have won that Monday Night game? Next week I fully expect to tune in and see a show about Kornheiser, Wilbon, Rome, Scott and Boomer all stranded on an island where they're forced to compete for food. Here's a hint, Boomer wins.
