  • My brother watches the combine. He records it and keeps it up until fantasy football draft time. He's actually told me he's drafted rookies before based on what HE saw during the combine. I laughed so hard beer came out of my nose.

I have tried watching a few times and it is beyond boring.

  • So is there a real chance the bears either trade or bench cutler? They have a good draft pick, but behind Winston and mariotta, is there a QB worth top 10 consideration?

Wouldn't surprise me if they are trying to trade Cutler based on the comments Fox and Pace made at the combine....very non-committal to Cutler. Although even if they do trade him, there aren't many solid free agent QBs to replace him. And I don't think there are any other QBs besides Winston and Mariota worth drafting in the top 10. I'm guessing Cutler starts the season as the starter.

That's a horrible trade for Chicago unless it involves Washington giving a number 2 with him. RG3 is damaged goods. Shanahan ruined his career.
  • Don't you think RGIII did some damage to himself, too? He didn't do himself any favours getting that concussion first season. Wasn't all Shannahan, was it?

The NFL version of fish bait (Los Angeles), the fear that owners in other cites use to swindle and hoodwink politicians to use taxpayer money to finance their for-profit stadiums has reached new heights.

Oakland and San Diego are proposing a joint venture to move to LA while St Louis owner has previously stated he will move there also.

Fuck it. Let's move Buffalo and Miami there as well, while we are at it. And I think the Redskins are already displeased with their 19 year old stadium, so maybe they can join the daisy chain as well.
  • Don't you think RGIII did some damage to himself, too? He didn't do himself any favours getting that concussion first season. Wasn't all Shannahan, was it?

The player is always going to say he can play. It's the coaches job to determine whether or not he should. And it was obvious to everyone during the game that he shouldn't have been out there. I know hindsight is 20/20. But watching that game, can you really say that he shouldn't have been pulled?
  • Are you talking about the playoff game? Yeah, he definitely should've been pulled. But a player still needs to take some responsibility for himself. You're right, though.

Yes, I'm talking about the playoff game. And I agree with what you said here.
  • I'm just not a fan of Shanahan. Honestly, I don't think he's this offensive genius that he was portrayed as. I never gave him that much credit for winning the Super bowls in denver.
  • The LA plan for Raiders and Chargers is nothing more than extortion. I can't see Mark Davis giving up an ownership stake to get it done. The man has no assets beyond the Raiders (which is a nice asset). To get it privately funded he would have to give up a piece of the team to the partner forking out the cash to build it. Its the reason the plan that keeps getting put on the table for LA before never happened. The group trying to build the stadium wanted a minority stake in the team/s as well as normal lease payments. The team that actually may move is the Rams. Kroenke has the cash to build it himself.

Plus the idea that the Chargers and Raiders would share the same stadium is nuts. When I lived in S.D., they wouldn't sell single game tickets when the Raiders in town ... you had to buy at least three other games because people were getting stabbed in the parking lot when the Raiders came to town.

The theory of them to playing each other twice a year is insane. They would need some huge spiked fence and require fans to wear that bomb necklace from The Running Man to keep them from trying to cross it.

taxpayer paid stadiums are a sucker deal (for the taxpayer)

Hell, Bowlen got one after like 20 years of straight sell outs. My SF Giants paid for their own crib and they're doing OK.....plus it didn't come in 200% over budget.

People act like Elway won 4 Super Bowls before Shanahan came to Denver. I don't get it.

Damn Mark Davis is screwed. I was listening to Bay Area sports radio yesterday and they broke it down and damn is he screwed along with the A's in regards to a new stadium. First the back drop. The 49ers wanted nothing to do with a joint stadium with the Raiders. The assumed Al would sue them every time he didnt get what he wanted which would slow the project down to a halt. So they wisely decided to go about their stadium on their own. Oakland will not build them a stadium or contribute any funds. They are flat broke as a city. Al through his other dealings also lost the ability to move to San Antonio and other options from just being Al. Its now Oakland or LA. Thus the LA threat from the Raiders to try and make Oakland change their minds. Mark Davis does not have funds to build a stadium or even really contribute a decent portion. He needs someone else to pay for it. If Kroenke beats him to LA (who also said he wants his own Stadium, no sharing) it will take LA of the table. Whoever gets their first will want territorial rights. Since Mark doesn't have funds if he loses LA he will have to sell to an owner with enough cash to build a stadium themselves as Oakland really cant do it.

Non NFL but tied into it.
The A's are fucked since San Jose sued the Giants. The Giants have said all along if anyone sues them they will go to their deaths not allowing the A's in San Jose. Stupid San Jose got upset and sued the Giants. They have contractual territorial rights to San Jose. No one except the Commissioner can take it from them. If Manfred tries to take it away they will sue and it could cause baseball to lose their anti-monopoly standing. Manfred will not do it for that reason the same as Selig wouldn't before him. The stakes are too big to risk it. So more than likely both owners will be forced to sell to deeper pocketed owners when the Colosseum is finally condemned.
