The schedule is based on you're record and which divisions you face each year. When they were both finishing 1st in their divisions, they played the following year. They don't leave a slot in the schedule for marquee match ups.

Colts finished 11-5 and Patriots finished 12-4 in 2012. Had the Colts beat the Pats, the record would be reversed.

That is a marquee matchup based on merit alone. Factor in the rivalry and it is a no brainer.

Pretty sure they do. How else would they have play every year?

I only think it was a rivalry b/c they were both AFC powerhouses year after year, along with the NFL hype machine. I hope they stay towards the top, but either way the Colts are a totally different team than they were a few years ago, so I don't really think the rivalry is pretty much dried up.

Incorrect. They were always winning their divisions, therefore would play each other every year.

Currently, each team's 16-game regular season schedule is set using a pre-determined formula:
Each team plays each of the other three teams in its division twice: once at home, and once on the road (six games).
Each team plays the four teams from another division within its own conference once on a rotating three-year cycle: two at home, and two on the road (four games).
Each team plays the four teams from a division in the other conference once on a rotating four-year cycle: two at home, and two on the road (four games).
Each team plays once against the other teams in its conference that finished in the same place in their own divisions as themselves in the previous season, not counting the division they were already scheduled to play: one at home, one on the road (two games).
    Alright, alright, alright!

I still hate / respect / hate the Pats more then anyone in the AFC South. No one is even close. In fact, I can't wait until the Jags go to L.A. and they have to re-allign the divisions so that the Colts are paired with the Browns, Bengals, and Steelers.

And it's not like Kevin Kolb is our QB. (sorry bills fans)

The Jets #1 pick (9th overall) fired his agent today because he wasn't in the top 5.

Jets know how to pick em.

Speak for yourself. No baseball in Wisconsin. Luckily Packer season never ends in GB.

Bad idea. leave it where it is. There is enough BS leading up to the draft already, I dont need another month of it. Plus, I like the time after the draft to find out about the picks and then they have OTAs in May so WTF? Stupid idea.
