Sanchez looked like a star tonight.
    Oh yeah, preseason.

of course and people knock him in philly too but in all honesty, can you name many more better back ups in the league? gotta be considered top 5. and you normally need your back up once or twice a year at most. i liked that pick up for the birds.
Is he still wearing the hair net thingy?

  • I went to SC so I have lots of love for Dirty Sanchez and Matt Barkley. Too bad they are 2nd and 3rd string (if Barkley doesn't pick it up he wont be that, even, for long) but if they have to be it is good they are for the local NFL team so that i can watch them in preseason, lol.

Jesus christ that is fucking ridiculous. The advertising and commercials are so out of hand and it looks like it will just keep getting worse. Thank god for the red zone channel.

If you are a Niners fan, please stop by your local Toyota dealer and inform them that will never ever even consider buying a Toyota unless they knock this shit off.
  • I remember during the NHL finals one year (95 I think?) it was the Devils and Red Wings playing and fucking Fox kept on showing the bat signal on the screen and advertising for Batman Forever. I was so pissed and said "It will be exactly Forever before I watch that piece of shit movie because of this" and I still have never watched it and never will.
I like the idea of telling the Toyota dealers that.
I might have noticed this but on my NFL Network they showed the fucking replay of the Bills/Giants HoF game for the first 30 minutes every time I kept checking back and then I ended up watching baseball instead as I was frustrated with checking in. By the time I looked again it was the 2nd half and they were showing 49ers v Ravens but the players I was interested to see were already out.

But at the end of the day, he is still mark Sanchez
...a still young, backup qb, who has won 4 playoff games and gone to 2 afc championship games. yeah, i will take that over just about any other backup in the league no matter how funny him running into his center's ass was a few years back.

Yep..very good backup QB to have. As much shit as Sanchez has gotten over the years (some of it deserved, some not so much), his playoff numbers are pretty damn impressive.

As a 49ers fan I would knife someone in the parking lot. Oh shit, I was going somewhere with that other than to make fun of the savage fans the 49ers used to trot out there before the new stadium. :) As a 49ers fan I dream of Blaine McShit Gabbert getting the call as a backup. Seriously? He sucks nutsack.

When are professional leagues going to stop prohibiting drugs that don't make you a better player?

Apparently 21 of over 100 players who tested positive for a banned substance came up as Molly.

Don't quite see how that one helps you as a player. Sure would make it more fun, though...

Also, on a semi-related note, ESPN believes anything is worthy of an update on your phone.

ESPN is brutal with that. I switched over to the CBS Sports app and it is so much better. Still get some alerts, but only for actual news. Not when Johnny Manziel takes a shit.
  • Johnny Maziel took a shit that I missed? Shit!!!

    fucking ice buckets....everywhere i look

  • I thought this ice bucket thing was stupid at first -- thinking that people were doing the challenge but not contributing. Then I read that they have raised more the 2 million dollars over their collections last year at the same time -- so it is working and people are having fun with it.
Would like to see the Bills/Phins/Jets do this too.
(Actually, can the Dolphins only make their rookies do this, and can the fill their buckets with hot coals instead?)

The flags last night were a debacle. I understand that it is the preseason and that games may be called differently once the real thing starts. I just don't want to see key plays negated all season because a defensive back lightly touched a receiver beyond five yards. That waters down the product.

Yeah, the flags have been ridiculous so far this preseason. It's almost impossible for there to be zero contact at all between a DB and WR. There was a play in the Bears game Thursday night where the WR initiated the contact with the DB, but the DB got flagged. I really hope this doesn't happen in the regular season...we're going to be looking at 3.5-4 hour games being a normal thing.
  • Sanchito again looked good. One bad play. An entertaining game between the Birds and Pats....as JimmyV posted, the flags were ridiculous and w/o the pace would have been great.

yeah there is no way they can call things that tight once september rolls around. i think it's going to be like college basketball last year with all those whistles early in the year then it died down...

more so than than the contact between the db and the wr is the hands to the face in the trenches. that is how football is played. most of it is incidental contact too. last night's game with the eagles was pretty much unwatchable...though i heard belichek and kelly told the refs to call a tight game to have their players be more prepared

it's already been said, can't be said enough--charging us full price for these games is highway robbery.

Jadeveon Clowney made 2 sick plays back to back vs Falcons

Stuffed the RB a few yards in the backfield then next play sacks Matt Ryan

Him n Watt are gonna blow up offenses for yrs to come
  • Does anyone else pick what games they plan on watching for the whole season, ahead of time? I've done it 2 years in a row now. Some games may change, but it's probably pretty accurate. Mostly watching Cowboys and Niners games, followed by Denver, Seattle and New England. I'm so ready for the season to start!

Oh yeah, the hands to the face thing on the line of scrimmage has been awful too. And like you said, a majority of the time it is just incidental contact. It's bad enough to be watching preseason football, but now the games are lasting 3.5-4 hours. Ridiculous.

The NFL is printing money and has been for decades. It can pay the musical acts at its signature event.
