    You get a newspaper?
the decline of newspapers is just another example of the decline of society….these days, instead of objective NEWS, you can just cater your digital feed to whatever you want to hear. that said, what’s left of our paper sucks…we get a print version on wednesday and the “sunday paper” comes on saturday. there’s not much “news” anymore…it has morphed into feature stories that they beat to death. how many times do I need to read about the shrinking great salt lake? they cover local sports a little but I don’t really care about the NHL or MLS teams and the jazz suck. the rest of the sports section is imported from other sources.

so, yeah, I used to love newspapers and am sad to see their demise. I much prefer reading newsprint over scrolling on a phone. that said, when our local paper went to only two days a week and the rest a shitty digital version with shitty “feature” content, I was all for (sadly) canceling it. My wife now pays for it.
100%.   the Philadelphia Daily News used to have an awesome sports section and the Philadelphia Inquirer had great news.   I read those religiously for about 35 years and finally pulled the plug like 3 years ago.  Even the Sunday Inquirer sucks now.
at one point (in vegas), I could get a boxscore and write up on every single MLB game, every single day. that horse left the barn a long time ago. Now, you get shit online, written by AI. I haven’t seen a Time or Newsweek in ages…is the decline the same?
Newsweek has gone to shit, but I don't know about Time. I think The Atlantic and The Economist's content is still pretty solid. Newspaper in general blow. I was really enjoying WaPo, but Bezos seems to be on a mission to sink it.
The Economist is a tremendous cure for insomnia. It’s so dense for no apparent reason.
Straight information which is what I prefer. My wife always asks why I punish myself when I get books from the library because I go for the heavy dense reads instead of lively fiction.
    It's a hopeless situation...

I don't agree that there is an issue with a devision winner hosting a WC team with a better record.
You play your division 2x.  Some years that works for you, some against.

Same... off the top of my head I can only think of 2 times we've seen a WC team travel to play against a host w/ an inferior record, including this year.

Want to host a playoff game? Win the division.

Economist is straight, for sure.  I think it's a touch pretentious in its writing.  I think you can have quality writing without going as dense as they do, but I love how they cover international stories in a way that no US periodical would touch.

    Carry on...

Definitely more than 2 including this year.
2020 7-9 Redskins hosting eventual SB champ wild card TB Bucs and 7-9 Beast Mode TD run beating the Saints in Seattle (2014 maybe) come right to mind, but there have been a few others.

It's happened quite a few times. I mean if they're gonna have divisions and you play over 1/3 of your schedule against your own division, might as well make it important. Generally the divisions fluctuate between being good and bad. (AFC North and AFC South being kinda the exceptions)

2008 Chargers were 8-8 and hosted and beat the 12-4 Colts.
2010 Seahawks were 7-9 and hosted and beat the 11-5 Saints
2011 Broncos were 8-8 and hosted and beat the 12-4 Steelers.
2014 Panthers were 7-8-1 and hosted and beat the 11-5 Cardinals.

I personally don't like the system. I'm fine with these shitty division champions making the playoffs, but then I'd reseed. I wouldn't give them a home game. But my team never factors into any of this anyway so whatever...

Well the Vikings had 2 shots at the Lions and lost both. Darnold didn't make the throws. Those are the rules so they gotta play on the road. It's not like they'll be at a crowd disadvantage playing in LA, though - let's be real.
The game may be moved due to the fires in L.A.

I'm on board with re-seeding based on record.  Make division winner the first playoff seeding tie breaker

    Would be:
Afc the same, but Houston @ chargers

    Nfc
    Rams @ philly
    Tb @ vikings
    Gb @ wash

Was it horrible, the first thing I said when he fell down and grabbed his leg was "I hope it's an achilles"?

I wish I was a sacrifice, but somehow still lived on.
