the same views or opinions,so does posting a different idea apart from the other posters make
that poster a troll ?...we paid $ to be on this forum so what makes some posters more special than others ?
just asking...

Good Morning!
Helluva thread Byrnzie- glad to see you are feeling better after your episode.
it is that my friend !

its best not to assume at all or assume your assumption is wrong,
chances are it is.
It's easy to dismiss, dislike. Much harder to love. To realize the gift of all interaction.
Even that which one might feel is not 'good enough' by their standards
or that which they do not agree with.
For me, in my opinion, I just don't see the trolls unless they are abusive.
I see that more than clearly.
Hurts my heart. That is a troll to me. Those with a motive of being hurtful
to another. Cruel, spiteful, ridiculing, bullying.
In my opinion a troll is not someone who doesn't agree with the masses nor might
not be as up on a subject, that is someone of a different opinion, view on life,
or way of expressing themselves. With the right to express as long as it is not hurtful.
As far as the foe option ... works great against those I describe as trolls.
Being on the high road but unfortunately their words remain hurtful even up there.
A kinder gentler 2012 for all hopefully.
troll- One who posts a deliberately provocative message to a newsgroup or message board with the intention of causing maximum disruption and argument.
i think we all know a few of these.
don't feed them and validate them by replying.
Note taken. Now to use that "foe" option and ignore said troll, Gimme, instead of feeding them...
It really is easier said than done. Don't I know it!0 -

Differences of opinions (even diametrically opposite opinions) can be good and can make an interesting debate. A bit of 'feather ruffling' never hurt anyone. Plain old trolling (as example mentioned), is not really an opinion offered to engage in a discussion, just a flippant statement to seed discord which, as a number of you said, is best to ignore but oh so difficult to do so!0 -

edit; good morning fellow trolls
it seems to be based on posting a different opinion but funny thing is that is debate
but debate is not personal as it is made here.... might be a 'click thing'
like high school but debate in high school wasn't this bad0 -

I'll do you one better, I think most people have done that. And I think some people wanting to avoid the trolls do that to from time to time.
Now, I wonder, will you be able to read my post or have you already "foed" me?hippiemom = goodness0 -
the thing is, people are DELIBERATELY being trolls. it is just that some people have been so brainwashed that they believe in things like murder, conquest, and the will of the nation above the will of the people.Everything not forbidden is compulsory and eveything not compulsory is forbidden. You are free... free to do what the government says you can do.0

"DELIBERATELY being trolls / so brainwashed that they believe"
aren't they just stating their opinion which is not one you share?0 -

WOOT!".
Now go ahead and 'understand' that, and enlighten us all as to the posters 'motives'. Can you tell us all how 'the gift of all interaction' (whatever that means?) applies here?
Thanks.
I remember seeing that post and being confused by it.
I used to support the DP, but even then, I was saddened that I thought we needed to use it. To say "I love the death penalty" is just plain strange, and sounds a bit baiting...looking for a rise maybe? I remember wondering about the motive to use those words. Love+DP?? odd.Pick up my debut novel here on amazon: Jonny Bails Floatin (in paperback) (also available on Kindle for $2.99)0 -

Exactly. As well as intentionally attempting to derail a thread.0 -

no personal attack, no disrespect
no personal ridicule... did not attack another poster or rile them
people feel strongly about their core beliefs their words show this
and they are rarely effected by others opinions, rarely changed and why debating those subjects
can be rather futile.0 -

Great, thats your opinion. (I never brought up personal attacks or disrespect - nothing to do with it)
I saw it differently, and so did many others.
btw, I vaguely recall that post but I think it was out of context in the thread. Obvious baiting. Very obvious.
On a side note, you may also have a very different understanding than many others, of the word troll in the land of the internets vs. real world.Pick up my debut novel here on amazon: Jonny Bails Floatin (in paperback) (also available on Kindle for $2.99)0 -
Its also the exact same thing as posting this response: "death penalty" in the GOP's 10 Most Extreme Attacks On a Woman's Right to Choose thread. Its off topic and childish baiting, aka internet trolling.
This isnt about accepting someone else's opinion, its about how to deal with trolling.
I can accept a difference of opinion, but its taken some time to identify and ignore obvious trolling.Pick up my debut novel here on amazon: Jonny Bails Floatin (in paperback) (also available on Kindle for $2.99)0 -

look at it all
so many choose not to see the personal attacks and disrespect
yet they will call someone a troll or say that they are baiting
baiting is not an unpopular opinion it is just another's opinion.
yes obviously I have said I feel troll are the bullies,
criticizing, ridiculing, causing personal attacks which are much more
detrimental than someone stating an opinion that is unpopular
In my opinion
troll = a 'puddle full of detrimental' ...
it is those who are unkind and harmful to others...
just like the real world0 -

You missed the point again. its the context, not the opinion.pandora wrote:yes obviously I have said I feel troll are the bullies,

If you look past the words and see the context it is a different thing than just opinion. Sorry you dont see that or understand it, so thats the last time I will say it.
How do you explain my other post about the abortion thread? Look at the context of things.Pick up my debut novel here on amazon: Jonny Bails Floatin (in paperback) (also available on Kindle for $2.99)0 -

How do you explain my other post about the abortion thread? Look at the context of things.
but my point perhaps you missed ...
As much or more than context is how we treat each other that is important. That ones opinion
can leave the context of a thread when it is not the popular rant at that particular moment
but related none the same to that person posting.
That being a troll is being harmful to both thread context and its posters.
It is as much... it is more those who continue to attack others personally.
That is a troll in my opinion...
It comes down to respecting each other whether we agree or not.
This a mature concept ... the gift of interaction0 -

It is pretty funny though, I think no matter what anyone defines "troll" to be, we all have who we consider to be our own trolls.
And there are certainly people around here that fit the bill of the internet definition as well.
And I think the spirit of the OPs post is a good one. Avoid the trolls, anyone you consider to be a troll. If you don't get anything valuable from the interaction, why stress about it?hippiemom = goodness0 -
