As much as I once liked them.....ARE THEY SERIOUS! Nothing new or innovative there in that song that sucked.....ok what else you got.

ACDC comes up with better cheesy lyrics than that crap.

    Peace
*We CAN bomb the World to pieces, but we CAN'T bomb it into PEACE*...Michael Franti

*MUSIC IS the expression of EMOTION.....and that POLITICS IS merely the DECOY of PERCEPTION*
    .....song_Music & Politics....Michael Franti

*The scientists of today think deeply instead of clearly. One must be sane to think clearly, but one can think deeply and be quite INSANE*....Nikola Tesla(a man who shaped our world of electricity with his futuristic inventions)

Awful lyrics sure, but I think it's a decent enough song. I'm surprised it's gotten negative reviews pretty well across the board...What were people expecting?

Dunno why anybody would be looking for anything new or innovative. All rumors about the album are that it sounds like old VH.

Yeah, I don't get it either. Not sure what the expectation is. Not like Dave is going to grow up all of the sudden.

But people like what they like and vice versa so it's cool.

I dig it. I realize it is just a rework of Down in Flames but I still dig it.

I also don't understand what it was that people were looking for here. I like it a lot. The first listen I was a bit leery, and yeah, the lyrics are cheesy, but what VH song w Roth (and for the most part Hagar for that matter) really have any kind of deep lyrics? Took a couple of listens to get used to it and I like it more with each listen actually. Love the solo, especially when he drags out the end of it. Also love Eddies deep vocals. Cheesy lyrics aside Dave sounds good. Looking forward to hearing all 13 tracks. I wonder if ALL of them are old demos redone. This song, Me Wise Magic and Can't Get This Stuff No More are all better than the tracks they made in '04 for the Hagar tour and Best of album. So anyway, I dig it and look forward to the rest of it.

I wonder if Mikey gets royalties if he was in on the original songs that are being redone. I will miss Mikey. Wolfgang holds his own and it isn't his fault that his dad kicked Mikey out of the band, so I can't hold anything against the kid.

man, i know on the first page i said i wouldn't go see them, but i'm starting to change my mind.

the past couple days i've been on a huge VH kick. i really haven't listened to them much over the past few years. and you know sometimes you forgot how awesome a band really is.

i've been rocking out to fair warning and 1984 constantly at work.

This was played at the recent NYC show. It's the second song on the new album and a reworking of an old demo. You can't make out the vocals, but based on the barely audible guitar (especially solo!) and the bass groove, and knowing the old demo, this song is going to kick major ass! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GzNNg9ALr8w

She's The Woman. Yes, it will. There is another old one called Bullethead on the new record. I've heard that one on boots from 1976. Its really fast. Kind of like Light up the Sky, etc.

I proudly display all of the Van Halen albums I own, from their debut to Balance. The songs in the 90's with DLR and VHIII with Gary Cherone were awful. I had hope for this new album, but after hearing Tattoo, that hope is lost. They reworked a throwaway song from the 70's, and made it even more throwawayable. The chorus makes me cringe. I thought maybe I'd see the tour this year... I'm less thrilled about that idea now... but Eddie's still got it... but the ticket prices are redonk... maybe I'll win tickets from the WZLX workforce... then I'll be happy to go :)

Well, I bought tickets for the opening night in Louisville (where I live), using the venue mailing list's presale code. I'm going with my brother-in-law and we're each paying for our own ticket, so I was willing to go to the second-highest price tier to ensure seats in the lower level of the arena (even if they were at the back), but there were none available (despite this being a presale). I settled for nosebleeds at almost the far end of the arena for the second-lowest price.

There had already been a two-pronged American Express cardholder presale going for two days (and which was still open concurrently with the venue and Live Nation Mobile App presales that began today), and all the presales had a nice, scalper-friendly 8-ticket limit per order. One of the Amex presales was "preferred seating," which means that whether they've sold or not, better seats were still blocked off when the venue presale went live. Man, there is just too much shadiness in the way these onsales are run today. I've been in the ticket-buying game a long time (nearly 20 years of going to concerts, dating back to my college days), and this business of having presales with huge per-order ticket limits and no more barriers to entry than which credit card you have is just shameful--a funnel to help brokers and scalpers get the best seats through semi-legitimate means before most of the public gets a whack at it.

I don't mind missing out on the best seats to a show because I'm not a paying fan club member, or even a season-ticketholder to the venue, but missing out on an entire tier of the arena because bulk buyers have been snatching up easy-to-qualify-for 8-seat blocks for two days makes me pretty steamed. I can't even imagine what scraps will be left for the public onsale on Monday.

they're not fucking around, are they? most of those venues hold 15,000 - 20,000. Hard for me to imagine they can sell those out. :?

I get the feeling the Louisville show, by virtue of being the tour kick-off, will technically sell out--but that there will be a lot of empty seats as resellers are left holding the bag. But I could be wrong; the show is on a Saturday, which will help with audience willingness to decide as the date approaches to grab seats from a reseller.

They won't sell them out, but they'll be plenty full. They're one of(if not) the most successful US bands ever. Quick google says they played to 1mil over 74 shows last time around. Asking why VH plays arenas is basically like asking why does PJ play arenas.

Scored free tickets for Feb 28th at the garden through 660 WFAN this morning during the Boomer and Carton show. Considering the price of tickets I am stoked!

I tried to get tickets to the Boston show this am and was on line at 10am and could not get a pair.
Only left was singles. I was surprised that they sold out in minutes.

MSG and Mohegan Sun shows were sold out within minutes too.
  • Stupid me. Had 333(high, but right over stage) row d and threw them back. Then missed today's sale. Anyone have 1 (or 2) good seat(s) available for 2/28 @ MSG?

Not paying scalpers price. Willing to miss (obviousy by original move).
Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.

I can't believe how many tunes on this album fall right in line with some classic VH tracks. I'm not a VH aficionado by any stretch, but I found myself laughing out loud at several of the songs in a good way. Some of it sounds much heavier than an VH I've really heard but there's something about the way they tune down the instruments and the way DLR lays over it that sounds like this coulda been recorded in 1980.

I agree 100%. I hate Tattoo, but the rest of this CD isn't quite the trainwreck I was expecting. You can definitely tell that a lot of these songs were written in the late 70s/early 80s.
  • My advice is not to judge the album on the basis of Tattoo. It's definitely the weakest track on it. The rest kicks ass.
