  • First of all I'd like to say that it's not the 10C's fault what happened yesterday.. it's completely Crowdsurge fault.. I mean.. is this the first time this company sells tickets online to thousands of people that try to get tickets?.. i don't think so.. they probably have "promised"10C that they could easily handle this... well we know they couldn't..

    Don't you guys get it?

10C has integrated the CrowdSurge Ticketing API into their existing website (Forum was slow as hell last night too).
That means they use the same servers as before.
Same servers with the same amount of traffic when sale goes live causes the same problems...

Either you upgrade your hardware bigtime or outsource the presales to somebody who can deliver the tickets in a proper way...
Give a monkey a brain and he'll swear he's the center of the Universe...

The posting of this thread in and of itself is somewhat of an empty gesture. Chipping in and conversing on the existing threads seems like a far better way to appease the complaining parties. But then, that would require effort on TC's part.

Agreed. If you wanted us to all post in one place, you could have easily done this LAST NIGHT. This just seems like another cover up -- bye bye posts! With all due respect, I really wish the band knew how shabbily its fans are being treated by its own organization.

    +1

Information was appalling. No-one apologised (just blamed Crowdsurge), no proper explanation, no taking responsibility and STILL no meaningful update - 23 hours on.

TC procured the services of Crowdsurge. It is up to TC to ensure Crowdsurge is up to the job.

I wouldn't be too sure that the band does not know. I think they do not care.

Oh, and to shut down a perfectly valid discussion between TC members over whether membership is worth it is utterly cowardly. Are you mods afraid of criticism or do you just not want to know?

At this point, a ticket request period needs to happen. Clearly the SURGE of tc members cannot be contained. Phish has a pretty good system, but seniority would need to be worked into the plan somehow.

I disagree that seniority should be an issue with being able to get tickets .. if it was a seated show then maybe seniority should get better seats.. but not the just the possibility to get tickets.. that's not fair at all senuiority doesn't have to mean you are a bigger or better fan..

they will just probably delete this tread once tickets go on sale... its easier than deleting a 100

This is the exact same system the Dave Matthews Band uses, so clearly other bands can use it. They do have shows where seat location is completely seniority driven so that can also work.

Yeah, communication has always been an issue. Other fan clubs constantly communicate with their fans. I don't think it would kill anyone to let everyone know what is happening on a more frequent basis.

On the ticket issues, I can only think a couple of things and one of them is demand. Since 2003 this band for whatever reason has decided they aren't going to tour like they have in the past. So you get the same number of fans trying for far less shows. Additionally, the number of traveling fans has grown over the years. More traveling fans + less shows = less tickets for everyone. I really think this is a huge part of the problem. When they only play 10 or 15 shows a tour everyone thinks yet have to go to all of them. Or they have to get on planes and go for fear of never seeing them again. I know. I've done that myself.

Throw PJ20 out because that was an anomaly. It was a 20th anniversary celebration and I think they would have had the ticket fiasco even if they were running a super computer from the future. But to have these same issues for regular shows in places like Boston, NY, Philly, etc. etc. is because of high demand and low supply. Less dates, more fans, less tickets to go around.

It isn't just the system or the server or whatever. This same system was in place in 2008 when you could get tickets to some shows days after they went on sale. And in 2010 when you could get tickets to KC or STL with no problems at all. Those were low demand locations.

So to me at least part of the solution is to play some more shows. Spread the love a little. Maybe the entire country wouldn't all try to buy MSG tickets at the same time if there were more choices.

Another part is: stagger the sale times better. This isn't a radical concept because you've done it before. In 2006 the sale times were staggered to two or three shows every couple of hours for a few days.

You know you will have huge demand so you are going to have to find some way to manage that. But communication has to improve. And that doesn't include griping about us or laughing at us on a radio show.

Anyway, that is my rambling .02.

Good points, but they're not going to tour more than they do now - they've all got families and have said publicly that they no longer want to be out touring so long.

So, the other options to limit the rush are what many other people have said:
    1. Geographical priority - Home fans get first shot.
    2. Stagger the presales - one show at a time.

Other than that, my advice to Ten Club would (again) be what so many others are reiterating. Talk to us, honestly. It's been said before but it can't be said enough - communicate with us. Let us know what's going on, and if you don't know, at least let us know that you're listening, that you're trying to get on top of it. It's quite amazing how the tone of this thread is so much more calm and level-headed than the others, even though the understandable anger is still there. I think the reason for that is that Kat started it - it mightn't have been information she gave us, but it was communication from the Ten Club. If we'd had some of that last night when we needed it, so much of the frustration could have been managed and avoided. But A cut-and-paste from CrowdSurge, when we already know what they'd said, without any direct word at all, was a huge communication failure from Ten Club.

    My two cents.

exactly..seniority works from the moment you buy tickets..then i understand it,..but my 50$ is the same ,have the same value with a member from 1991 and a member of 2011...we all must have the same chances..

Shouldn't everybody be used to this by now?

This is a good point, maybe Pearl Jam is mega popular beyond what we were use to? Though I suppose since they're not touring as much, ticket demand is simply really high? Are there really that many fan club members now? Perhaps I've been living under a rock and just don't see Pearl Jam as a mega popular priority for many people except for us?

I doubt the geographical idea is so good. Denmark is right in middle of several of this Euro tour's venues. We have Germany to the south, UK to the west and Norway and Sweden to the east/northeast and then "us" in the middle. So would I only be eligable for Denmark shows or all shows in my geographical vicinity?
But I still keep cool, hoping for some updates.

The guy who tried to pull an end-around with season tickets to PJ20 at Alpine got a personal phone call from Tim on a Sunday. All of Europe gets...nothing. Ridiculous the way this club is run.

Love the band and love the fans. Hard to love the club.

I actually had tix in my cart and got through the checkout process more than once but my Credit Card company was denying the charge because they said that Crowdsurge was "a highly suspicious vendor" and their stepped up, holiday season anti-fraud policy is to deny any charge over $500 from an international source. (Total BS)
The site crashed as I entered my CC info so I wasn't certain I got them so I kept trying. Then the Crowdsurge website said I had already purchased and that tix were limited to one per cust so I thought I was good. By the time I realized the problem was on my end (VISA) the problems started to mount on their end and I was stuck in the never refreshing Que with tix in my cart unable to check out.
So if your trying for tix and are from the US, u might want to call ur CC company to clear a purchase from Crowdsurge beforehand so you dont end up fukd like me.
I got no work done yesterday due to this, and am just as unfocused today waiting for an update.....

This is exactly the same experience that I had. I had 2 shows in my cart, put in my card information, would have gotten to a "Confirmation" page, but it was just blank. I realized I still had the tix in my cart, tried again, there was an error message. Upon calling my bank, they said there were multiple transactions for CrowdSurge, regarded as "suspicious activity", and they put a hold on my card, which I did not realize until later yesterday when my card was denied at the gas station.

I wasted an entire day of which I requested off from work, now only to be stuck at work waiting for ANY news or updates. I am frustrated with the horrible ticket ordering process, but I am more frustrated with the lack of communication from the Ten Club. I'm trying to not worry, stay calm, I'm sure it will all work out, but this is taking a toll on Ten Club members. Please respect the paying members of this community! We are a forgiving bunch, but I think we're all feeling helpless and disrespected at this point.

You flew all the way from MA, and didn't see the other bands?
I obviously went specifically for Pearl Jam, and I would have still gone (without hesitation) if they were the only band playing.
The main stage openers pushed the event SOOO over the top.
    QOTSA - Amazing.
The Strokes, I didn't care at all about... but now after seeing their flawless back to back performance, I am a big fan.
and Mudhoney? Come on... GREAT stuff there too.

Bummer that it went over your head.
The vinyl suggestion was in addition to the obvious requirement of fixing the ticketing issue.
I didn't think that I needed to spell that part out specifically.

what went over my head? we have different interests... doesn't make one of us wrong

    you went for pearl jam...
and i went for pearl jam...
i actually wasn't going to go BECAUSE of the other bands... but then I figured I would get a full PJ set... not a typical festival set

the openers pushed it over the top for you.. for me hanging with my PJ friends at the tailgates/BBQs I attended were just as awesome as pearl jam...

yes i know your suggestion was in addition to fixing the issue... my point was that they failed thus far on fixing the issue ... so why waste time on something else? why waste money as well?

i wish someone could calculate how much time, money, and energy has been wasted by people F5ing for hours on end over the past couple of years.

i want what the 10c, pearl jam and their management want

    i don't want any freebie

    i don't want any apology

i want a system that works
