I've just been watching a lot of youtube clips from the recent tour these last few days, and its evident to what people have been saying.. they're playing better, and looking happier etc, and i also remember reading in another topic where some Americans where saying they (pearl jam) seem to play better shows in Europe. and i was thinking, do you think the fact that Europe has the general addmission shows, there for better energy up front, with all the crazyness and the Band are feeding off of this, and responding well has a big part to do with this.

I remember reading a lot of reviews of shows in North America where Eddie was pissed at the people in front because they were too laid back (people who have been to many shows I am guessing with the seniority system). In GA, the people in front have waited all day at the venue to get there. Most likely they will be very happy and energetic and I guess the band feeds off that.
Still can't believe I met Mike Mccready at the Guggenheim and got a pic with him!!!!!

    2010: 9/7/10 - Bilbao
    2012: 26-27/6/12 - Amsterdam ~~ 29/6/12 - Werchter ~~ 4-5/7/12 - Berlin
    2014: 25/6/14 - Vienna ~~ 26/6/14 - Berlin

and most important, they are with all their friends around them..not where your seat tell u wih who and where to see the show..
its away different to see the show with YOUR people..

I get that as I been to a couple before and I hated it. It's a complete atmosphere killer due to restricted space to move....that's just me though.

Agree with Rafie. Also, as Dimitris explained to me, with GA, you can be with your friends. With seats and ticket pairs, the people you are sitting next to are very likely not the people you've been hanging out with all day. Plus with seats, you're likely not even hanging out with each other all day, you just show up before PJ comes on so there's less bonding involved.

I was super stressed out about GA but it turned out to be the best thing ever! :D

So this is where you guys are!!! Hey Su May, Rafie, Dimi.... :D

I never did the whole Q thing before this tour (caught the bug Rafie ;) ) and I've heard abt the seating/seniority system in detail now after meeting lotsa US fans lately....I gotta say I wdn't give up the former for the latter in a million yrs! It's not just abt standing up front near the stage but what had me gagging to get in the line each day was the thought of sitting around chatting with friends all day (when my roomie wasn't ill :( ), standing with friends during the gig and watching the band's reactions and antics up-close as well as singing your lungs out till it hurt as it was expected from those up front

Miss you guys every minute of every day since getting home. Just wanna go for a beer with u guys and hang around with nothing much to do but wait :cry:
if I keep holding out,.... will the light shine through?

Berlin 2 was definitely my favorite show of the tour (even though I was on Stones side) because I was with great friends. When looking back at the tour I think of that just as much as I think of being front row center at Amsterdam 2 (Where I met many people for the first time that were with me for Berlin 2...).
I would much rather que all day for a GA show than have front row seats.

I miss sore feet and legs and heads, the same pains that I can get back home but never quite feel so good as those aches you earn from walking endless canals and alleys in a labyrinthian city so foreign but perfectly feeling like home, dodging bikers and buses and taxis and Matt and Ray Cameron. I miss drinking beer with smiling love-struck Israelis, expounding their favorites and their hopes (and the retrospective realization that those hopes came true for them), and I miss eating vegan food with an animal rights activist and his cat, who in an instant, crossed the sometimes vast chasm from "stranger" to "friend." I miss drinking coffee that came in a cup the size of a shot glass but was far better than any shit I drink back here. At the end of it all each day I miss stumbling home drunk and hungry and still finding falafel aplenty served by Egyptians too willing to tell us the ages of their children and the problems in the world and their happiness in this city that was once foreign for them (it was a feeling we could appreciate). Afterward I miss falling asleep for just minutes before the sound of parading UEFA fans and their vuvuzelas woke us up at 3 in the morning every morning, because the rude awakening was always tempered by a dawning realization that I was there awake in my foreign bed that felt like home, drunk and smiling with my best friend beside me, hours from seeing the best live band in the world and doing it all over again, and I was happy.

    Euro Tour 2012. Unreal.

    yeah :(

being with friends just makes the show a lot more enjoyable, allows you to be nerdy with each other all day, share stupid conversations...I actually really liked most of the time I spent waiting for shows.
please come back to europe next year?

Unreal.

    I miss you guys...

Berlin 2 was definitely my favorite show of the tour (even though I was on Stones side) because I was with great friends. When looking back at the tour I think of that just as much as I think of being front row center at Amsterdam 2 (Where I met many people for the first time that were with me for Berlin 2...).
I would much rather que all day for a GA show than have front row seats.

Well Kathi, what can I say. I guess I am officially elderly  (but just so we are clear, next time Mike's side!)
