Haha, great you guys! I saw it was on the screen at the end...haha, felt a bit stupid there, but still wanted to say bye to the guys in a way.

Hee, Mirella didnt meet you...thanks for adding me to your flickr account. I will add myself to "bugs" this week!

p.s. Theo show me a photo and I will tell you if I met you. Oh, and I will have photos tomorrow online, so you might be on those maybe.

Just came back from Belgium (after 6 trains and 10 hours later).

    1. The show was good imo. In comparison with Nijmegen, the Werchter show was a bit behind. It was not the best PJ show I've seen.

    2. What a lame crowd!! I've had this experience also last year in Antwerp, but is it that Belgians are not that cheery?? Even with NO MORE everyone beside did not join...

    3. From where I was standing (just behind the 2nd fence) I couldn't hear anything what Mike was playing. This really frustrated me. What a bull**** PA system Werchter had.

    4. Fuck that English kid who wanted to fight with me! Bastard!

    5. Highlights: SMILE!!, Brain of J, Ed's speech of pills from Josh Homme :), and I really liked the energy of PJ. Jumping and jumping on the stage.

THANK YOU PEARL JAM FOR GETTING BACK TO EUROPE!! I HAD A REAL GREAT TIME THIS WEEK!! YOU'RE WELCOME IN THE NEXT YEARS!!

He also warned us never to accept a pill from Josh Homme - who joined in on Baba for a split second - or at least only take half.

    Voila!
    THANK YOU, LOSTDAWG!

The crowd further to the side was boring! No singing, no dancing, not even smiles. Maybe one out of every 20 people seemed to be into it. What the ^#(!) were those other people doing there? Stand still sleeping? Filling? I really can't understand it. I've never been to Werchter and always heard good things about the festival, and how relaxed it is. Well, if this is that 'relaxed', it's not for me. Maybe next time all fans should stand together so we're not all alone in different places surrounded by zombies.
The camera people zoomed in on the enthusiastic people in the crowd, and that was perfect! I found my friends back through them :):). Right in time for SMILE! And BABA :) Josh Homme, yeah!

    off to bed again,

    groetjes,
    Mirella :)

p.s.: did anyone see Elmo (the puppet) in the screen? That one has seen more Pearl Jam concerts than most of us so it was a pleasure to see him appear there while I was still in the middle of the lame part of the crowd.

Couldn't agree with you more about the crowd. That was exactly my same feeling. Also my first time at Werchter.

Ed: "If Josh Homme ever gives you pill. Trust me, don't take it. Or take half"

    Something like that :)

The crowd was lame indeed. I think it's just too much people that really wanted to see the band but didn't really know anything besides Alive and Black & Jeremy (which they both didn't play). Where I stood at the back of the front area (you might have seen my Belgian flag during DTE and the other parts where the lights were on the crowd), there were people shouting/singing for Black & Jeremy all throughout the gig... At the end, I've heard nothing but good reactions. Maybe they should all learn the PJ catalogue by next time :)

Had a great time though, really disappointed that my mobile phone didn't work so I couldn't meet up with the people I wanted to see... also missed Mirella ( :( ), but I had great fun on this tour and also following the tour just on the internet. I'm proud of this band.

Yes, and for me and many more people Belgium is 'Angus country' in the first place, so at least we were with you in our thoughts last Friday :). My phone did not work either so I left it in my car. It's still there (time to go get it :)).

  • I really enjoyed this show. The band were incredibly consistent; from the barrage of Go through Animal into Brain of J (a nice surprise, to say the least), they were solid as a rock. After watching an array of bands throughout the afternoon, you notice stuff like that. I've a new found appreciation for Gods' Dice, was cool to hear, and despite being the third time I've heard it live, No More was beautiful... such passion. Smile was a rare treat too (Sid.. I thought of you as soon as Stone got the bass on). Ed was in fairly good spirits, despite a bit of a pissed off face during the (poor) singalong in Betterman.

Sadly, I wasn't able to enjoy much after Evolution from the second row, as the fucking kids that stayed after the 'Monkeys seemed intent on pushing and crushing us... had to move back, where although I had a decent view the atmosphere was nowhere near as intense. But despite that minor quibble I had a great time.

So, that was last show. A HUGE-fuck off-out of this world thank you to Pearl Jam for a top quality performance and on the whole, an outstanding tour that I was so glad to have been part of. Also a big thanks to Jason for the tent, I'm sure he wont read this but it needed to be made public.

Ed was paying tribute to all the bands that had played throughout the day, and said 'If Joshua Homme ever offers you a pill... (long pause)... don't take it. Or at least be sure to take enough'.

Porch had an out of this world jam, Ed was running from one end of the stage to the other getting a Mexican wave going, it was pretty good.

  • Fantastic gig & superb setlist.
    Crowd too calm.
But it was the best festival i've been to (congratulations to belgians for the organisation !!).
    QOTSA was great too....

Now we can wait peacefully 'til 2009 before they come back here...

What do you mean chatting to Ed backstage? I had a backstage pass but did not go there because I thought it would not be anything special. Could not imagine to actually meet PJ there.

great show, crowd was a bit quiet further back, but gave me and sailorgirlie a heap of rocking room which was cool, had a great time, rocking, dancing and screaming my lungs out. what a great way to finish the tour.

Hightlights, gods dice, porch, alive and SMILE!!!
i know from the night before that we were going to get it. i got the nod from stone and mike in nijmegen when they saw it on my arm

    Well, I'm finally back.

What can I say? I thoroughly enjoyed the show!
Yes, the crowd was pretty quiet overall, but where I was standing there were a fair few people rocking out and singing along the whole time, just like me!

I'm so glad they played Brain of J (one of my all time favourites), and of course SMILE! I couldn't believe it when they started it.

Excellent show for a festival I'd say. The band seemed in a good mood, Eddie was quite chatty.

Did Ed say something about them taking "moving images" of 'No More'??

All I'd like to add here is: Thanks for the tour Pearl Jam and I'm grateful I could make it to a couple of shows, which I thought were both excellent, albeit quite different.
