I agree with this. Its 100% necessary for ANY job interview. Mookiewrench said that fb and google turned down applicants who wore a suit - this rule does not apply for 99.9% of all open jobs...and 100% of jobs in Utah of all places...
Is that really true? I guess I've only ever worked in an office environment and would agree with this rule for that. I'm not sure about radio stations...?0 -
Yes. Even Howard Stern wears a suit to his interviews.8/29/00*5/2/03*7/2/03*7/3/03*7/11/03*9/28/04*5/24/06*6/28/08*5/15/10*5/17/10* 10/16/13*10/25/13* 4/28/16*4/28/16*8/5/16*8/7/16 EV 6/15/11 Brad 10/27/020

You can stream the station! Visit http://www.kuer.org. If I land the gig, I suspect that my responsibilities would be announcing the programming scheduled for the day, give time/traffic/weather updates intermittently.
It would be an interesting, and different experience than what I've had so far.
I bookmarked the page and will tune in. Please let us know when you startso we can tune in. And I noticed the "donations" link.
Good luck and if you let us know your interview date and time, I'll send positive Chi your way for a successful interview.

Well, I don't have a suit and I have no money left to spend on a suit, so I'm just going to have to go with what I picked out. I'm confident it will send the right message though... and if the other applicants wear suits, then I guess they may have the upper-hand in that department.7/2/06 - Denver, CO

I don't think you need a suit. I work at a university & the only people I see interview in suits are the ones applying for faculty or physician positions. I think the outfit you bought sounds perfect! I'm sure you'll look sharp & everyone will be impressed.0

just before you shake the interviewers hand, pick your nose. START to wipe it on your sleeve but the shake their hand real quick instead.
Dress. Ummm, rifle through your clothes hamper for the most wrinkled thing you got. Stains are a plus.
Go in hungover. In fact if it were me , I might have a beer in hand. I would also smell strongly of weed.
Now if you are anything like me , you leave there and go apply somewhere else, cuz you aint gettin hired.
edit: I almost forgot. When you satnd up to leave FART really loudly. It helps if you eat gassy food the night before. I suggest a huge ass omelet for dinner.Post edited by mickeyrat on_____________________________________SIGNATURE________________________________________________

The rule of thumb is to wear one step up of what you would normally wear to work on a day to day basis.
For an office job that is normally shirt & tie, you would wear a suit to an interview.
In a more casual work environment, wear a shirt & tie to an interview,
For a laborer position or work wear you would normally wear jeans/t-shirt, then casual business attire would be appropriate for an intervie (not a tie, but not jeans either)0 -

About the suit question...I would say it's not needed. A shirt and tie in this case will be fine. I've read alot of DC's posts and his great personality and obvious love for music will be more than enough for him to secure the position. Good luck man!
P.S. And this is the God's honest truth...I had a person ask me in the first two minutes of an interview if we drug test? :? Funny thing is he was just a nervous wreck and after our 30 minute interview I chose to hire him.0 -

You really just needed someone to get high with, didn't you? He had you at "drug test".
DC, I agree, I don't think you need a suit either so walk in feeling confident and go win 'em over!0 -

He's actually a very good employee and after gettting to know him we talked about why he asked me that question. He admiited he used to smoke weed in college and was nervous...I then told him about what I used to do in college and this was pretty much his face...

is this job to be on the same level as a busboy? I would say if he is sweating the interview then it is not.8/29/00*5/2/03*7/2/03*7/3/03*7/11/03*9/28/04*5/24/06*6/28/08*5/15/10*5/17/10* 10/16/13*10/25/13* 4/28/16*4/28/16*8/5/16*8/7/16 EV 6/15/11 Brad 10/27/020 -

I try. I don't view myself as anyone's boss...I view myself as the first in line to take shit if my department starts sucking wind. I actually get my balls busted by my people more than I bust theirs...and I love it. Last week a guy put hand soap in the ear part of the phone on my desk and proceeded to call me from his cell while standing right in front of me. It felt disgusting but was hilarious.
This might make a great thread!

Truthfully, I'm not sure the level of professionalism involved with the staff and position. I don't have a suit, but I think I'll be alright.7/2/06 - Denver, CO
