What a show. CYHMK and MR...both Micks sounded great...so much energy...2.5 hour show...at 70?
I'm sad though that I'll likely never get to see that again. Wow. Shitty seats but so worth it!

And you guys got "Shine A Light", which is a pretty rare live song in that it's only been played 20 times (including Chicago) in 40-something years, and 16 of those were in the 90's. Mainly the Voodoo Lounge Tour.

Fairly accurate review of Friday. All in all, this was a fantastic show. It's like some comments on IORR. Say what you want about the technical aspects of their shows (at ages 65+), most people walk away talking about what a great time it was. I certainly did. The setlist was about what I expected. I enjoyed the Mick Taylor tunes a lot. JJF was better than I expected it to be. Miss You was great. Darryl Jones singlehandedly made Emotional Rescue a great live song (at least that night). My favorite tune that night was probably All Down The Line.
Unfortunately, it was clear that the band hadn't rehearsed some of their new stuff much. Doom & Gloom has been played hundreds of times in my car, loudly, in the last few months, but live, it really lacked the dancy beat that makes it a great song. I grimaced when I saw Mick J. pick up a guitar and start in.
At the end of the day, I wanted to walk away knowing that "I saw the Rolling Stones." To do so and have the show be great, warts and all, is just icing on the cake.

Taylor Swift? Given how Mick loves to "duel" with the female guests, it may be a bit awkward when 69 year old Mick does this with 23 year old Taylor.
Feeling a bit lucky that I got Sheryl Crow...

I'm not sure why they can't get that one down live. You'd think it would make a good live song, but they've apparently failed to figure out how. They've played it at damn near every concert since the 2012 shows, so they're not out of practice with it. I'm not sure what the deal is. One More Shot has been pretty impressive live though, it was really good on the PPV special.

Lots of complaining about the length of the set on IORR. I'm more annoyed with the Mick Taylor situation than I am the length of the set. It's not even the middle of the tour yet (if you can believe that) and they've got 13 some shows to go. Let's hope it doesn't become a trend (dropping songs), but I'm willing to give them a pass for one night, especially with a better guest than the others (Taj Mahal).
I suppose that opinion may change if the reviews indicate that the show sucked overall. But if they're great for 21 or great for 23 songs...who's counting?
I haven't been to IORR in a day or two, and I wasn't at the show so I don't know, but setlist.fm says Taylor came back out for Satisfaction. Did he, or was it just one song?
Not sure. I was just following along on IORR's forum. We go on Friday...
Regular set length that night as they also played "One More Shot". My 85's turned out to be Pit passes that night....fantastic show! Sat in the rafters on Friday, but was able to share in my 8 year old son's first Stones show. CYHMK with Taylor was inspiring. Last nights show (85 tickets) had me club level directly off the stage....VERY LOUD...loved it. I can now sleep at night again after hearing Taylor join them for Sway! Very solid stop in Chicago for the boys.
There's Pearl Jam, The Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry, Robert Johnson......and then everybody else.
Overall, a surreal experience. We arrived around 6:15 and went to the will call lane…no line. I told some jokes to the ticket worker and he asked if I had a rough day. He then peaked into the envelope, grinned and told me I need to see the man at the next table. He slapped on a pit wristband onto Karen and I and asked if this helps! We were elated. We went inside and had dinner at the Stadium Club and saw the owner of the Blackhawks. Excellent meal. We ran into VoodooAllie in the concourse and exchanged pleasantries. We headed down to the pit and at Josh’s recommendation, found ourselves a spot on the side rail (Keiths side). Wise move…Mick was there all damn night! We did get “Omaha’d” by the setlist a bit, but this was something like my 35th show and I still seen them do two songs I had never heard. A review of the songs:
1. Get Off My Cloud – I like that they are opening with Charlie’s drums before Keith comes in. It’s a safe opener with a chorus that the fans can sing along to. I’d prefer to see something a bit more fierce in this spot (JJF opening a show never gets old for me)
2. It's Only Rock n Roll – I’m tired of hearing this one live, but Keith did nail the solo and the ending was extended a bit. Not bad, but not great. Mick made a joke about the UC being the house that MJ Built and he was said to find out it wasn’t him
3. Paint it black – Keith played strong again, Mick being very theatric. A theme tonight was Mick really pressing hard to entertain and having a great time, lots of energy
4. Gimme Shelter - Two words…LISA FISHER….she hit it out of the park and this was the first real moment where the crowd let loose.
5. Wild Horses – Mick tried real hard here, but I got the feeling the crowd is tired of this one, especially near us in the pit. Ronnie, although he had a strong night, didn’t play the amount of fills he did in Newark on this one.
6. Rocks Off – Minor flub by Keith on the intro, but pretty solid performance as it went through. MT was glaringly missing here. Mick worked the crowd pretty good to get them to sing the last chorus.
7. Emotional Rescue – One of two songs I had never heard before. Mick sang the first TWO verses in Falsetto and its clear that this song is “his baby” for the tour. He really had a great time singing it and spent lots of time on the tongue walkway, spent lots of time near us. Band sounded well rehearsed on this one. Charlie and Daryl made this very special.
8. Six Days On The Road w/ Taj Mahal - Better than I expected. Lots of folks heading to the restroom from our vantage point. Mick sang it karaoke style (focused on the teleprompter the entire time). Keith missed the second change going to the chorus, but otherwise they played it well. I couldn’t help but think the entire time that this song was taking the place of Moonlight Mile, CYHMK, Sway, ADTL, etc. I wish they’d get rid of the guest spots personally unless it was to add something to a stones performance (ie Choir on YCAGWYW) Could hardly hear Taj singing at all on this one, poor mix did not help them.
9. Doom and Gloom - another one of “Mick’s babys” Tempo has been sped up since last winter and Mick sang with energy and passion. Ronnie’s simple solo really pulls the song together. Charlie was particularly strong here
10. One More Shot – Filler song that they actually didn’t mess up the arrangement on for one of the first times. Keith really likes this song as he was smiling throughout.
11. Honky Tonk Women – funny new video on the screen, some cartoon nudity for those who are entertained by this. Crowd really got into this song.
12.You Got The Silver – One of the highlights of the night. Ronnie and Keith were fantastic. Ronnie started the song without Keith introducing it and I thought the crowd enjoyed it. Nice to see Keith back on guitar on this one
13. Before they Make Me Run – Better than hearing Happy again…that is all
14. Midnight Rambler w/ MT – Not Taylor’s strongest performance, but its still a dream come true to see him playing up there with the band. Mick played the last part of the songs from his knee on the ground. I’m not sure if he was going for theatrics or if he was taking a break? Mick put a lot of emotion into his presentation and acted out the “second act” of the song as if he was in the Chicago Theater….another highlight. For the first time since I can remember, Jagger ALMOST wrestled this song away from Taylor, but MT saved it with some solid work at the end with the slide.
15. Miss You – Meh….highlight was Keith coming over by us and when he looked at me, I did the Head, Heart, and Brains gesture and he smiled back, pointed at me, and pumped his first at us. Jagger really likes playing this one. Ronnie was solid here as well
16. Start Me Up – The Intro was LOUD! I can do without this one, but it did get the crowd rocking.
17. Tumbling Dice - Better than when Springsteen butchered it, but again, this is a song I can do without. Lots of interaction with the crowd from Mick on the catwalks.
18. Brown Sugar – Keith nailed the intro! First time in a while that I’ve seen him hit this perfect when I’m at the show. Another crowd pleaser.
19. Sympathy for the Devil – Vocals got a bit echoey, but Keith held up his end of the bargain on this one. The crowd was particularly loud and animated singing the backing vocals. The Gorilla Suit is questionable at best.
20. You Can't Always Get What You Want – I could barely hear the choir. The band sounded good here. French horn could have been louder. Nice solo by Ronnie at the end. Crowd singalong was good. Solid performance that would have been perfect had the choir’s mic’s been louder.
21. Jumping Jack Flash – Keith stormed the front of the stage and started stalking towards the side before hitting the first note. He likes this one a lot as it is obvious with his aggression. He had a snarl on his face similar to Rocky Balboa when Mickey asked him to show the young punk how to snarl when you punch.
22. Satisfaction w/ MT – MT barely audible, but he was there and was having a good time. Standard performance other wise. Mick left it all out there.
In summary, This was a great night musically for the band. I was a bit disappointed that they took so few risks with the setlist, especially with the amount of times the band has played Chicago on the last few tours. Mick really looked to be having fun up there. I think the easy setlist relaxed him. Our pit spot gave us plenty of up front glimpses of the band, they looked great. On a side note, it was always easy to tell when Ronnie or Keith was going to come out on the tongue as the drums would get very loud through the monitors on the back of the pit to help them keep time with the song. Disappointed that we didn’t get more Mick Taylor, but there are two more chances for me to get that! Hope to see everyone on Friday!
There's Pearl Jam, The Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry, Robert Johnson......and then everybody else.

What's wrong with Toronto? First they bust Keith, now this. In spite of what he says, he probably was pretty drunk and obnoxious. Calling a lawyer, a newspaper and getting more booze isn't the proof of sobriety he seems to think it is. Still, drunk and obnoxious are par for the course at concerts. My buddy and I smoked a half ounce in our seats at our first Stones show, yet the ACC isn't letting drunk people in?
I can't help but think there might be more to the story. As the guy from Maple Leafs S&E said, the guy managed to stand out among thousands. He probably did something. Probably nothing worth losing his tickets over, but his I'm So Innocent story seems like bullshit too.

Congrats My $85 tix put me the as far away from the stage as you could be . In the 400's at the very back of the arena. The good news is that during Sympathy I went down to watch the rest of the show from the top of the 100's. So i was just at the top of the stairs with my wife and an usher told us we had to move. I said "fine I'll go back to my seat" and proceeded to walk down the stairs towards the stage, and noticed some empty seats really close to the stage. We enjoyed the entire encore from some pretty kick ass seats right by the stage. Thank you to the lame fans who left before the encore.

Good on you for moving (too bad you didn't do it earlier). Really?!?! Who walks out early during a rock concert (esp. the Stones?). I know from experience that Ottawa is bad for this, and would have thought that this wouldn't be an issue in a city like Montreal.

It's been going on the whole tour, there have been multiple threads about it over on IORR. Several people have mentioned that there are quite a few people going who don't seem all that into it, like they're just going so they can say they saw The Stones or whatever, and ducking out after catching some of the hits.

I'll never be surprised at how some people are. We have the entire spectrum of human behaviour safely encompassed. I can't imagine getting into the venue, listening to a few tunes, cheering, clapping, and then looking my buddy in the eye and saying, "Well? Ready?"
My friend walked out of Soundgarden in Vancouver, but he had a reasonable reason- the sound was so bad that it was enough to drive a guy batty. He's a good concert-goer- a veteran with much experience- so I'll give him a pass on that one, but I'll be monitoring his future concert behaviours in case he's slipping off the rails and discipline is warranted .

That should be awesome. He and John Mayer were fantastic on "Goin' Down" during the PPV special. I had never heard of him before, but I was very impressed.
that would be fantastic. I saw him the other week on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction on HBO, they played when Albert King was inducted, just awesome, great blues.
I heard Brad Paisley will join the Stones on stage next week in Philly. um, who's that? country?
$85 tickets for Boston 6/14 are up now. All sections including GA
All $85 tickets say "GA"...it means nothing. Your ticket assignment is random when you get to will call and is more determined by which seats were originally unsold at full price along with some pit tickets sprinkled in.
I did very well with the 85's in Chicago. Pit one night and club level side stage the other night. We took our son to the 2nd chicago gig and had to pay regular price to get three seats together. Seen four shows this tour and am regretting not going to Boston or Philly!
There's Pearl Jam, The Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry, Robert Johnson......and then everybody else.
good to know about the $85 tickets. Looking at the options for the Boston show tonight on ticketmaster, you would think that there were different sections available, and the pair I was able to pull up yesterday said GA

And you guys got "Shine A Light", which is a pretty rare live song in that it's only been played 20 times (including Chicago) in 40-something years, and 16 of those were in the 90's. Mainly the Voodoo Lounge Tour.

On a positive note, they played Sway with Taylor last night again.

Yea, i'm hoping to get an $85 ticket too, for Philly.
That is the ONLY way i can go.
Where do you find the $85 tickets? on the Stones site? or comacast tix?
I keep checking here:
http://www.rollingstones.com/tickets/
and when the button for $85 is red then you can click it and it will take you to the right page to buy them. I saw that yesterday for tonight's Boston show. There is also a link towards the top of that page that you can sign up to get a notification:

THANKS!!
I'll check when i can.
That should be awesome. He and John Mayer were fantastic on "Goin' Down" during the PPV special. I had never heard of him before, but I was very impressed.
For anybody who missed it...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VqnBVU3muAM
that would be fantastic. I saw him the other week on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction on HBO, they played when Albert King was inducted, just awesome, great blues.
I heard Brad Paisley will join the Stones on stage next week in Philly. um, who's that? country?
All $85 tickets say "GA"...it means nothing. Your ticket assignment is random when you get to will call and is more determined by which seats were originally unsold at full price along with some pit tickets sprinkled in.
I did very well with the 85's in Chicago. Pit one night and club level side stage the other night. We took our son to the 2nd chicago gig and had to pay regular price to get three seats together. Seen four shows this tour and am regretting not going to Boston or Philly!
