Here's a story of Pearl Jam concert luck, thanks to some cool fans in the Big Apple....

My girlfriend and I got tickets to the 1st concert in NYC, but our tickets were in section 317, row L. These seats are against the concrete back wall and behind the stage. Right before Eddie and the boys come out, this group of people walks up and a couple from the group asks if we would trade tickets with them. Their friends have the seats next to us, and they wanted to sit with them, so they offered us their tickets. These tickets ended up being in section 212!!! Still behind the stage, but at an angle so we could see the band pretty well...we were MUCH, MUCH closer than my original ones in section 317.

    The concert ROCKED!!!!

BIG THANKS to the couple who traded tickets with us....

You guys made our night SO much cooler!

    THANKS!!!

this was the first pearl jam concert i've been too. compared to all the other bands i saw pearl jam blew them away live. i thought the setlist was great, some predictable (the hits, and love reign o'er me), but was so shocked when they played a killer rendition of all along the watchtower, which i figured they wouldn't play after having played it at the show before. Seeing them live has further convinced me that pearl jam is my favorite band

So I'm writing this almost 5 days after the show back home in the UK and the excitment is still pretty fresh...more so for the way superior MSG night 2 show but night 1 was still great.

10C put us in the front row of section 94 which was the first row of the proper tiers as they go round the back so we had a pretty amazing view of the whole stage. Crowd around us were dissapointing, way too many pissed up people who arrived late and bitched about their seats...and in one couples case stood in the aisle for an hour and left during Comatose....what was that about?

Hard To Imagine was a weak opener after all the build up but Why Go and Given To Fly were outstanding. It seemed like the set really lost it's energy around Daughter and it never really recovered apart from during Leash. By the time Alive rolled around most folk around us were sitting down which was a shame.

A great show.....a nice warm up for what was to come the next night.

people were that bad around you?
I was in secton 416, the highest you can go behing the stage and everyone was so into it. I mean i dont think anyone I saw left early or even sat down

I agree with most of your review...I felt like the show started out good, then went nowhere...I had 16th row seats (great!!) with good crowd round, but felt the sound was crappy. I couldn't really hear Ed, and when I could (either his guitar or voice) it sounded tinny. Night 2 was HEADS above night 1...

you're right about the sound, it was subpar. I didn't really notice it at either MSG gig, but I noticed it in hartford. the sound was so much better there.

I was in section 334, and did not sit down the whole night. There was a great crowd around me (and my friend). This was his first show, and he is nowhere near a die-hard fan, but he knew A LOT of the songs just from hearing me play them. He was feeling it, and i'm glad. It's all due to the fact that PJ puts on the best live show around.

Everything has been said already, comparisons to Night 2, this and that... but their is no denyiing that this show was simply a fucking blast. The crowd was just really really into it, from start to finish. A previous poster said it best, and he said that "... it felt like 20,000 people knew the words to Down..."... or something along those lines... and I couldn't agree more. That was such a simple, and true way to put it.

I think the anticipation of the first show at The Garden really added that extra something to the first night. Everyone went into this show knowing they were going to have an unforgettable time, and PJ did not disappoint!

My personal favorites at Night 1:
--Love Reign O'er Me (WOW...I'm so glad they played this!)
    --Present Tense
    --Faithfull

.. well everything from Hard To Imagine to Indifference.

Until '09 (Hopefully... please... please... please)

Hey all - long time fan, very infrequent poster on here. Felt like I needed to contribute something in this case though. Was extremely lucky enough to score first row via the lottery for MSG 1 (Thanks 10C!!!).

Was truly an amazing experience... and since I probably won't be that up close and personal again anytime soon... well, I took just a "few" pictures.

Hope the below link works... I had just put them on ofoto to share with some friends. If I get some more time I'll also put them on flickr or one of the better photo sharing sites. Have some short video too that I'll try to get up by the end of the week.

Hope there are a few that you enjoy.

Had to put in my two cents, this was my first pj show, and my 32nd birthday, and I can't imagine a better way to have spent it! I am having so much fun now rediscovering this band and it is all pearl jam, all the time in my headphones right now...thanks for an amazing show!

I too was in Section 334 and I have to say I was surrounded by some great people. All those directly around me were up and singing from start to finish.

By far the best PJ concert I've been to.

I made all the trip from Madrid to see PJ once again (well, twice again).
So, I've been in the 2 MSG concerts. The 25June was my 10th PJ concert.
I don't read much these threads anymore because after 2 pages all the comments are pretty much the same and I find no criticism at all. When I read that most of the people think in most of the PJ concerts that that was probably their best concert, the people amazing, the band amazing and so on I say: "Well...". I love PJ but this love hasn't removed my critic reasoning so far, I think...
So, IMHO, the 24th concert was OK, good, but the 25th concert was excellent (almost 3 hours, a long and good setlist and a special atmosphere in the Garden...)
I was behind the stage and I was so afraid of how I was going to like the concerts (in Europe they never sell these tickets). anyway, the sound was excellent, and the views of the group, OK, not so good as being on the floor, but OK.
Very good organization. Everything very easy-going (compared to some concerts in Europe): no queues for entering, short queues for getting a beer, no queues for the WC, no crowded spaces, no moshing, no extra-drunk people bothering...
So, in general very good, but next time I'll try to be on the floor again...

    Hi all,

This show was my first PJ show. I just never got around to seeing them live and it took my gj getting ten club seats and planning a trip to nyc around it for me to go. Great freakin show! So very worth every penny. Seeing them live gave me a greater appreciation for their music that I didn't have before. I cannot wait to see Eddie live in Toronto on the 12th.

My gf rocks. :) Thank you Sindy.
