Great show .... good energy ... The band was totaly into the show . all smiles by the band the whole freakin time( even stone smiled) ... matt C singing and my sisters Bf looking on stage and not finding the female who was singing , only to find that it was Matt singing ....

Ed fucked better man and i think it was mike McCready Fn up marker in the sand . funny shit ... i think for betterman ed should leave the singing to the fans ...

Id have to rate this as my 2nd all time fav show , only behind Hamilton 05

I have some pics from the show in the art wall thread ... msg nite 2 pics

lol, this made me laugh :)

Wow, just got back yesterday and cannot believe how amazing these shows were. I've only ever seen PJ in Europe on the floor so I've haven't got a similar show to compare them to, but really enjoyed these shows in the seats watching the crowd.

Night 1 was just amazing hearing 20,000 people sing Why Go - wow, it was mental and totally unforgetable! Our TM seats were in 309 and not to bad at all, I was pleased the Garden wasn't as big as I thought it would be so was pleasantly surprised how good the view was.

Night 2 for me was the best show I've ever seen (119 seats). I have been dying to hear them open with Release so when i heard those first notes I thought I'd died and gone to heaven! I knew then it was gonna be a good one. I still can't believe I got to hear RATS, GARDEN and LUKIN as well. The crowd sign along to Betterman was nothing short of spiritual - I just shut my eyes and absorbed the whole experience, just wishing it would never end.

Met some really nice people who were stoked that we'd travelled from the UK, and we rocked out hard together.........it was totally worth the trip, can't wait to hear the boots

I saw ED surfing at MSG 2. He was standing on the monitor in a surfing stance and the rocking motion of the Garden stage created his "Wave"
He was not singing when he was doing this and I don't remember which song it was during. Very cool to see. I saw Camden 1 and 2 and both Garden shows. I had 3rd row floor seats for all 4 shows. I do not plan on missing
any future Garden shows. Release as the opener for MSG 2 was almost
a religous experience. Words can not describe it.

  • i wanted to post this a few days ago but typing was beyond my capacity, so here goes...

i took NJ transit home from MSG I on tuesday night. i don't know if it was a mechanical malfunction or a conductor error, but the end door released right as i was getting off the train and slammed me in the side of the head. it wasn't like i was the last person off the train or anything like that. it was just completely random. and it wasn't like getting hit with a subway door either. it came at me hard and didn't retract when it hit me.

it didn't knock me over or really even hurt all that much. it just confused the hell out of me and i kinda stumbled out onto the platform. so fast forward to wednesday...

i felt fine all day. slight headache, no major problems. i pre-gamed a little before the show but had to stop because all of a sudden i felt like absolute shit. it was scary. i thought i was gonna pass out and miss the show. i somehow managed to make it through the whole concert (leaving only once to get some water, which helped a little). it was weird though. it was like i wasn't actually there, but more like i was watching myself watch the show from a third-person perspective. that's the only way i can think to describe it.

i still felt really bad on thursday after the show so i went to the ER. turns out i had a concussion. it's all good now. the CT scan was normal. no more damage than usual. but i guess the intelligent thing to do would have been to not go to a concert with an untreated head injury. oh well. i'll know for next time. :)

so for anyone in the area of section 81, row K: i apologize for standing there like a statue (a.k.a. a casual fan) all night. not my style at all. but i was just really dizzy, nauseous, and confused... and sober!

crazy... i played full-contact sports all throughout high school and college and i never had any issues outside of a few joint injuries... and now at age 26 i'm getting taken out by fucking doors! WTF? you all have permission to point and laugh at me now. :o

great fuckin' show though, right? the fourth of four awesome shows i got to see this tour...

i already have my lawsuit against NJ transit planned out:

"you guys ruined a pearl jam concert for me. get me into the beacon and we'll call it even." ;)

i'd better get on that quickly since the show is tomorrow...

Holy Shit I'm listening to the audience recording right now. You should hear the crowd during Release, un-fucking-believable. Chills.

I'm so glad I got to see that show.

Night 2 was 10 times better than night 1...sounded like a completely different band, more put-together, more energy...I had a blast!

The "bouncing floor" was so cool to watch...specifically, during Betterman at the end, the entire stage scaffolding was bouncing!!

I first felt the bouncing a lot during Corduroy. I was behind the stage and it shakes back there, too. I never felt it again as much as during that song. Once those drums came in during the intro, it felt like a trampoline.

We sat in section 123 and during Betterman we were able to see the lights on the scaffolding behind the stage going up and down and the wires securing them snapping. Thought for sure something was going to break.......awesome show and loud crowd, was a big sing along all night to every song!

    I stand corrected.

I don't normally care what people wear, I just thought it was a case of Manhattanites being pretentious and too cool for the room. Never seen the dress clothes at a PJ show before. My bad.

Just an observation from a local: not everyone in NYC is a "Manhattanite." I would venture a guess that the majority of people who work in Manhattan are commuters. After all, if you lived in Manhattan, you'd have stopped home and gotten changed, because who wants to go to a concert in your work clothes? Especially with the beer and pee splashing potential?

Anyway, it's to your credit that you accepted the correction. Word.

Yeah...recall that the Live from at the Garden DVD was shot on night one from July 8, 2003, and that's the show where the band realized for the first time that when they play MSG, the cement floors actually bounce. From a review of that show:

In the encore break, unbelievably, the crowd kept getting louder and louder and louder…the entire building was roaring with the screams of fans rabid for more. There is no way to fully describe it unless you were witness to it. Ed came back onstage with an MSG staffer in tow and told the crowd that they had been “scared shitless” because the arena floor (made of concrete, I might add) had been shaking through Evolution and the encore break. The staffer informed him that it had only happened three times before: for Iron Maiden, The Grateful Dead, and Bruce Springsteen. Pretty good company to be in, if you ask me.

And if you listen to the boot from July 9, 2003 (MSG 2), when the band starts playing "Corduroy," you can hear Ed say, "...and I can feel it, again! YEAH!"

They love it too. Just another reason why the Garden is the best indoor place in the world to see a show.

I don't know where you were sitting, but I was behind the stage, up 2 decks, I think. And it was bouncing up and down. It is a bit unnerving when a concrete floor is doing that. :p

Night 2 was probably the better of the two shows for me, but it's close. The energy of night 2 was just insane -- from the band and the crowd. The band just seemed to be having a great time up there and I love me some SOLAT, Lukin and Rats!!! Hmm... but then we got Leash, STBC and Porch for MSG 1 --damn, decisions, decisions. (But really my fave this go round was probably You Are in DC - friggin' awesome!)

Loved the floor bouncing. Felt it night 1 too... but it was way more pronounced night 2. I first felt it during GTF. I was jumping around like a maniac, stopped for just a second... but the floor kept moving. Then it was even stronger during Better Man. Fun!! :D

Can't wait to do it again.

both my wife and I clearly remember the seats behind and above the band bouncing like crazy 9/11/98 (facing the stage, we were on the right over their shoulders). maybe the whole place wasn't shaking? but that section sure as shit was.

definitely shaking during this show. felt the same. we were on the floor this time (worse seats, would you believe?) and it's an eerie feeling...

I'd just like to post a big thank you message to the lady who sold me her two spare tickets for MSG II. I'd travelled from Wales and only had tickets for MSG I, what a plonker!! Obviously, couldn't miss second night and ended up in cancellation queue for five hours when my saviour came along!! so thank you whoever you were - I know you were at Wembley last year and in Cardiff in 2000 - I was the girl with the red hair who's boyfriend had just about reached the end of his tether cos he was queuing when, whilst he likes Pearl Jam, he didn't like them enough to queue that long!! I'd already dragged him over the Atlantic Ocean to see them and he nearly cracked!! So thanks to you, I wish I'd got your name and thanks to Soloman, the guys from Bostom and New York(sorry didn't get your names) and the die hard family of four who were in the queue with us (sorry also - you know what I mean :-) hope you all got tickets, I'm sure you did - nice meeting you all - Trudi
