  • I got laid all weekend

Ha, ha, ha it doesn't count unless there's another person involved...
walk the bridges before you burn them down...
  • it wouldnt suprise me if mile 1 management were being idiots, historically they have been. Does anyone know if PJ stuck around town today, or if they left too?
  • A few points...
no one sells penguins in st. john's, they're called puffins and they fly and look nothing alike. If you had bothered to look outside of the most touristy spots you may have seen other things more worthy of your greatness.
It's nice to know that we can come close to approaching the mediocrity of NYC, thanks for the compliment...

The only people that say "aye" anywhere in Canada I would suspect are either wannabe pirates, Irish ex-pats or working on a ship. Lots of people in the rest of Canada say 'eh' but not many do here.

Your condescending, full of worldly knowledge, attitude is refreshing and such a nice change from the general tone of these boards which tends to be conciliatory, friendly and open. Any time you feel like gracing us with your presence please come again, i'm sure we could all learn a lesson or two from your street wise, cosmopolitan attitudes...

My first time in St.John's, I'll be back - it was Totally fucking beautiful- buddy, your post is just one more reason why I'd take a St.John's vacation over NYC any fucking time.

  • yeah, seems like the only reason there's no rapes or killings in St Johns is cause the women are so ugly-who'd wanna rape em- and your town is so broke from selling wooden "puffins" and hand crafts( that no one needs cause you're all selling them) that there's no money to kill for.

Not allowing water on the floor is a pretty stupid decision your government came up with causing people dehydration down on the floor up close...causing low energy-

    You're a jerk.
Makes much more sense to live in the Present Tense.

    Shows: 05/30/03, 09/02/05, 09/04/05, 09/05/05, 09/24/05, 09/25/05, 07/22/06, 04/02/08 (EV solo), 08/08/09, 08/23/09, 08/24/09, 09/25/09, 09/21/11, 09/23/11, /9/30/12, 12/02/13... many more to come!

i met this jeff dude before the show from alberta he got a shirt signed by a few band members and is goin to auction it off as a fundraiser, actually while we were speakin w/ him jeff walked by us in motel lobby!! and signed it, i was a lot more calm seeing him that day, i was the last of my friends to head to the show, there was some sort of fashion show in the motel lotsa weird ass lookin ppl, but while smokin one last cigarette outside near entrance, STONE walked out!! just told him to have a good show

i got to the venue just in time, i went to check see for a different poster, saw that it was the same as nite 1 (and still not sold out??!) picked one up after show, but as im lookin for a gate i hear eddie start hide your love away! sweet, my seats were in row U tonite stones side, wintersleep (great band name btw) played same set i believe, even better second time around

highlights for me : hail hail, insignificance, I GOT SHIT, half full (when eddie kept the light on that flag that said thanks!) BEE GIRL! man of the hour & light years

dont know what to believe about the show being cut short, regardless sucks that there were some song cut out, all in all great times, we hung out at a bar until 4am before leaving for the airport, met some of the crew there & basecamp guys, i got home exhausted this morning and went to sleep for 11 hours

the people in newfoundland were amazing, so friendly, i'd go back in a heartbeat

  • yes , just a fun rouse-
and BTW I got laid all weekend...that's all- I'm gone.
    Have a happy boring life....

I guess it was such a rare occasion that you felt it necessary to share with everyone here!

You are truly my fucking hero.
  • Thank you for coming to Canada PJ. Thank you 10c for squeaking me in this summer just in the nick of time. Two amazing shows for me Saskatoon the setlist I don't think it could have been better suited for my liking. Winnipeg was amazing because it was sooooooooooo loud. So glad to have the concerts to enjoy over and over. After Fargo in 2003 it took me a year to come down from that. Can't wait for the new album that's gonna be awesome. Maybe just maybe I'll get to go see them in Wyoming or Montana or something. :D Thanks PJ!!!!!!!!

  • It's kind of funny to read the posts on here, with people taking shots at Newfoundland. I've never been there myself but I find it hard to believe that people could find something so wrong with such warm, friendly people and awesomely named towns...

Heart's Content, Heart's Delight, Heart's Desire, Little Heart's Ease, Little Paradise, Cupids, Bumble Bee Bight -- and of course, Dildo, Come-by-Chance, and Blow-me-down ;)
  • No, St. John's isn't New York, but New York isn't St. John's either. I've never seen icebergs off New York, or eaten seal flipper pie there or cod tongues. I've also never stepped over homeless people in the streets of St. John's.

Newfoundland is one of the funkiest, friendliest, coolest, most unique and beautiful places in all of North America.

Travel with an open mind or why bother.

I find it funny that you only think Biancas was mediocre are best best the New York Times liked it enough to give it 4 1/2 stars. I guess your taste is better than the New York Times.

FYI, I live here and IMHO Biancas is on the list of the LAST places to eat unless you like your portions small, stacked and expensive. No doubt, the original poster will assume that I'm low-brow and consequently won't listen to my opinion. But, then again, i don't care about that either. I'm one of those people who wants my food to arrive in a heap, not in a dainty stack.

To our visitors,... we're glad that you enjoyed your trip here. Come again soon, even without Pearl Jam (but try to bring Pearl Jam back with you if you can).

New York we ain't. Canada we ain't. We are what we are and that's fine with us.

    .

    I'll drink to that!

    Great place, lots of fun.

    Cheers
  • when i saw stone on the street by the delta i made sure he knew that we(as canadians) were VERY grateful for the CANADIAN tour and especially the fact that we didn't have to cross the border to chase the dream down this time around.

i have only good things to say about the province and the people of newfoundland. it was an amazing experience and it was truely worth spending a month's rent to see the tour close down in st johns

st john's is a beautiful city. the walking trail, leading down from signal hill into the city, was as breathtaking as anything i've ever seen/experienced.

  • Well, I was sick outside (what a week for the the stomach flu :( ), so I ened up missing the first few songs, which was harsh for me because I didn't get to see Last Exit, SOLAT and Hail Hail. Still an amazing show, but, man, what a downer that is.

As for the shortness of it, I know the girl that Ed pulled up on stage and I was talking to her and her friends for ages after the show. They were supposed to go backstage again last night, but apparently the band had to leave immediate to go to New York for some reason.
  • yeah i was hoping to snagg an autograph... after they didn't play do the evolution
and the guy at the delta told me they took a cab to the airport and flew off to pitsburgh on their jet directly after the show

Yes, in canada we are. Like canada we ain't. Just like we're not like New York.

And I am very proud to be a Canadian. However, Newfoundland is not Canada in a way that St. John's is neither Halifax nor New York. All three are great cities with their own charms, but only one of them is New York.

Ok, sure,... technically, we do trade the canadian currency, and we are under the umbrella of canada and we do enjoy the advantages of being Canadian along with our mainland and other-island bretheren. However, many of us here on the Rock would say that we're Newfoundlanders first and Canadians second, even though most of us were born Canadian citizens and most of our parents were born Canadian.

The thing to remember is that most of our grand parents were NOT born Canadian. Many of our grandparents and great grandparents saw their fathers, brothers and sons killed in the first world war and watched as their country went into a kind of bankruptcy-protection receivership. We ended up in Canada's custody mainly because our mother country Britain wouldn't forgive our war debt (the one we incurred fighting for their freedom) our nationality was traded to Canada. We brought a huge coastal fish stock, tremendous hydro power, vast petroleum deposits and minerals into Canada.

Canada completely blew out the fish stocks due to it's unwilllingness to listen to hands-on fisherpeople and it's subsequent complete balls-less-ness in the international arena. Lately it's been trying to improve it's act but so much has already been lost to rapers of the sea. Canada also won't make Quebec let us push power from Labrador into the United States across quebec. Instead, we've got to sell all our power to Quebec for rock bottom prices and they resell it to the US for a tidy profit. Does that make you feel warm there in New York? It drives me crazy if I think about it. grr. grr. Love Quebec. Good Quebec. Nobody bitch at Quebec, it'll get pissy and leave.

    I digress.

HOpe you enjoyed the show. Come back anytime. Don't let my rant above bother you. Just because we're not Canada, doesn't mean we're not happy about it. Like it says in the old song: We'll Rant and We'll Roar like True Newfoundlanders.

  • While The federal gov't is partly to blame for the collapse of the fish stocks, they dont share the blame completely. If we were so sure of the depleting stocks, we as Newfoundlanders should have stepped up to the plate, and cut back our fishing. We cant blame the federal government completely, they did not fish... we did. So this no fault attitude that for some inane reason still enjoys support amongst some newfoundlanders and labradorians is bogus.

And we are Canadians, and I for one am a proud Canadian. and a Proud Newfoundlander. Hail Hail the lucky ones.

Great shows. Would have loved to have heard crownofthorns. But ill get over it. till next time, well heres to hope !

V[ANTIS']yikes...definately not what i was expecting...thought these 2 shows would be the gems of the tour...guess i was wrong

I agree...I was expecting some LOST DOGS...i.e. rarities for at least ST John's 2, but was disappointed, although hearing Bee girl was great!

I would say both set lists were pretty much common, and night 2 was short!
I would give show #1 the edge, and although I was expecting more, I had a great time in this lovely city on the edge of North America. Did some drinking at the pubs, people I met were really friendly and great to hang out with!!

"triangulation of crossfire, that's the key"....

David Ferrie, speaking to Lee H Oswald, Clay Shaw and others, somewhere in New orleans, summer 1963....
  • The shows rocked with potent and inspiring music...awesome!!! While the die-hards from away may have wanted a Lance Armstrong-style marathon, I believe we may have been given the best, and most passionate performances of the tour...(btw, I've also heard this from a few of those die-hards from away). I hope the guys return next time on tour, as they hinted a little at...how can we make this happen?:)

Pearl Jam is, perhaps, the most authentic band that everyone has heard about....that's not an easy thing to achieve in this day of empty corporate crap...but they've done it. And the fans who are lucky enough to see them live are witnesses to pure magic.

Thanks for making us the lucky ones this past weekend in St. John's...;)

  • 4 days after the concert, and the show is still not posted on http://www.twofeetthick.com

I wonder why? It was a great show, but something happened to cut it a little short, maybe we will get some kind of 'official' word at twofeetthick.

I noticed that too!! I thought I was the only one for a bit....have they done that version before? It was so cool:)

What's the rest of the boot like? I can't wait to get it...

The boots for both shows are awesome! Betterman on Sunday was a treat...when the crowd was singing and then eddie says "Last night was louder"....wow did it ever get louder after that. The funny thing is, Eddie didn't let the crowd sing it Saturday night....he sang everything....not like usual. Other notable tunes on the boot are Daughter - Saturday night...the crowd was into that one especially the outro with the crowd repeating after Eddie - sounded deadly. Animal and Go both nights kicked hole. Defnitely worth the purchase!

There's clapping during Man of The Hour...it ruins it, IMO. In fact, during the show, when people around me started clapping, i wanted to yell "NOOO! DON'T!!"
I was kinda upset that the line "Live from St. John's it's Saturday night." isn't in the boot at all.
Other than that, they're both awesome!

Damn, are you serious? Why would they leave something like that out? That moment sent the crowd into a frenzy. Why damnit? Why!!
