I was 3rd row, and while it was rockin, it wasn't like it should have been. The reason being is that they added this second show while people were in line for tickets to the first show. Therefore, a lot of casual fans, basically people who are going just for the sake of a concert, got prime tickets. I'm talkin the first 10 rows or more. Add on top of that the fact that there was no ten club seats for this show, and you have a decent explanation as to why the crowd didn't seem as into it. Saturdays show definetely had a more energetic feel to it, but Rocking in the Free World (w/Wintersleep) more than made up for the apparent lack of energy. That was absolutely stunning. All in all, a great fucking weekend.0

I LOVE that they played In My Tree tonight! Especially since I was wearing this shirt:

They didn't play it last night but Mike totally saw it and he pointed to me tonight... at least that's what I believe!
and they played State of Love and Trust! Last Exit! Hail Hail! You Are! I love this band.Makes much more sense to live in the Present Tense.
Shows: 05/30/03, 09/02/05, 09/04/05, 09/05/05, 09/24/05, 09/25/05, 07/22/06, 04/02/08 (EV solo), 08/08/09, 08/23/09, 08/24/09, 09/25/09, 09/21/11, 09/23/11, /9/30/12, 12/02/13... many more to come!0 -
Yeh i thought tonites show would be longer, but who cares what a fuckin show it was. Lots of variety in two the shows. Highlights for me tonight were " Last Exit " really glad they played that. " You are " was awesome, and "solat " was so good. All in all two awesome shows from the best band in the world. Cant wait for the new album and next tourWho cares if the world is going down the toilet? Eddie Vedder got his mojo back!0

Interesting that the two most rockin' shows were at the beginning of the tour rather than the end...Excluding AC, Philly, and HoB, of course. Missoula and the gorge tore everyone's face off! Too bad for the end of the roaders!0

but i did miss a new song it looks like "insignificant"
ummm... it's "insignificance"... and it's not new... it's from Binaural."If you love somebody, set them free... If someone loves you, don't fuck up." - E.V.0 -

Yes. The crowd (at least around me, and seemingly throughout) didn't seem into it. It seems that they were into it, but not vocally. Alot of clapping and feet stomping, but the screaming (where there's usually screaming at other shows) was not there at all.I will feel....alive....as long as I'm freeeeeeee...0 -

Actually I think Montreal and Ottawa take the cake for 2 best back to back. Halifax also rocked.I will feel....alive....as long as I'm freeeeeeee...0 -

I dunno about the rest of you, but where I was, we were all loud, yelling and fairly into it. No one was going insane no, but it seemed like just everyone was just loving the music(altho as stated, alot of casual fans were there tonite) But I loved it, they played stuff I dreamed for, like You Are, Mary, SOLAT, Hail Hail, Jeremy etc, I loved it.(and it was still fairly long, lot of the songs were made really long)
ANd I really think Eddie was starting to lose his voice to, so that may explain the shortness...?0 -
The crowd seemed really into it tonight, which is odd because I was side stage tonight and last night I was on the floor. Maybe that's because I was more into it tonight? Either way they were both awesome shows, I'm glad I went to both because there's no way I could say which was better!
EDIT: And about the shortness of the sets for both nights, I may just be making excuses for the band here but it seemed to me that the management pretty much kicked them out. For example, last night the house lights were up for pretty much the whole second encore, and it just seemed to me like the stadium staff were trying to get them off the stage.0 -
lights come on before the show is over (as far as I can tell from 00 & 03 boots) the band likes to see the crowd at the end of the show.
I noticed in Halifax when Ed came out to do Drifting, as he was chatting up the crowd a bit, his voice seemed a bit hoarse, kinda like most of us sound the morning after a show..
I too was suprised how early the show Saturday ended, but it did start earlier.. maybe the band wanted to hit George Street themselves tonight..
Could also be the travel time they need to get out of Newfoundland and down to Pittsburgh for the next show..
Regardless, we loved having the guys do 3 shows in the Atlantic Provinces, an area often forgotten as many bands think Canada ends in Montreal.
I hope the east coast hospitality was enough to bring the band back next time around.life is the study of dyin'
and how to do it right

i thought those shows would be better too,
but i have to say WINNIPEG was the gem of the tour.....it was really specialthe oceans made me, but who came up with love?0 -
I was on Stone's side of the stage tonight (right behind Boom) and at the end of the 2nd Encore, someone pulled Eddie to the side and were pointing to their watch... Eddie looked pissed and went and told Jeff and Matt... I guess management REALLY did want them to get off stage.
Anyway... we got the setlist from the guitar tech after the show.. they cut out a LOT of songs.
Oceans, Last Exit, Animal, State, Hail Hail, Corduroy, Wishlist, Dissident, Deep, Even Flow, Insignificance, You Are, In My Tree, I Got Shit, 1/2 Full, Black, Go
Bee Girl, Man Of The Hour, (Off He Goes) , Crazy Mary, Crown Of Thorns, Alive
Light Years, Jeremy, RVM, Betterman, Fuckin Up, Rockin In The Free World, Yellow Ledbetter0 -

God, that sucks with the management thing!!! Sometimes I feel there's a disconnect between venue staff here in Newfoundland and the actual fans...I don't think the venue realized how special a deal it was to have the boys here...or maybe they did and I'm just venting.
I thought the show was great though...some very special moments with crowd interaction, etc. Bee Girl was great, and a rare treat. Crazy Mary was amazing, and Black...WOW....what was the ending there? I liked it a lot, whatever it was.0 -
