When raising awareness, you should be aware of how your actions are construed by the general public. When action is taken out of anger, poor decision making is usually at hand. Disrupting commutes is typically one of the worst public relations move that a group can do.

what do you suggest!? ... have old ladies handing out lollipops and stuffed bears?

acts of civil disobedience will sadly result in every day people being disrupted ... but not anymore than if say a public service union is on strike or locked out ... i wonder if those people that lost their life savings due to corruption on wall street worry about being delayed in traffic?

Exactly. The only thing I think the group is united on is that government is in bed with the 1% and we should raise taxes .... that is a concept I'm still trying to wrap my head around. It is illogical. Why be in favor of giving more money to a group you claim has fucked everything up????

I suggest developing a plan. Make well thought-out demands. Have an understanding of what effect your group's appearance has on the public's opinion.

And having old ladies handing out lollipops and stuffed bears is a much better tactic then banging drums and smoking doobies in a park. OWS needs to meet somewhere in the middle.

well ... this thing is a clustercuss on many levels ... formally organizing is tough because it requires money ... and once money gets involved - it's over ... who's accountable to that money? ... where is it going to come from? ... will that influence the message? ...

like i've been saying ... full scale revolution ... but with a modern twist ...

if it was me - it would go something like this:

immediate boycott of the major corporations such as:

Bank of America, GE, Monsanto, Exxon, Haliburton, Time Warner ... if anyone has stock or subscribes to any of their services or products - they need to discontinue it ... send those fuckers no money ...

Was it a "plant" who slashed a police officer today, too? Were the DC protesters who knocked an old lady down concrete steps just one big group of "plants?" Why is it that when protesters turn violent, people quickly point out conspiracy theories that the violent people are plants sent in to discredit the group but nobody ever suggests that an aggressive cop in a video is a sympathizer of the protesters trying to get them sympathy and nobody ever suggests that what preceded the incident in the video but was conveniently not recorded may shed some light on what really happened such as the "victim" initiating the physicality (such as the video OWS supporters said showed the NYPD attacking them when the full video showed the "victims" raming a steel barricade into the police without any provocation)?

firstly, i only brought up the prospect of plants ... because there is a precedence of this happening at anti-globalization protests everywhere ... it is a well known tactic ... secondly, for it to work in reverse ... someone would have to pose to be a cop ... that would be very hard to do because cops are inherently a fraternity ... which is what happened at the G20 protests here in toronto ... cops were found to use excessive violence but no cop would rat out another ... lastly, i'm not saying all protestors are innocent of stupidity ... there are loose cannons everywhere ... but this is a mass movement - it's virtually impossible to control every single person at every single time ...

also ... this is the NYPD here ... the history of corruption is widely known ...

the blame for today lies solely on mayor bloomberg. the movement was petering out, he threw everyone out of the park, and this is what you get. he has galvanized the movement, and they are rallying around his decision. government is supposed to listen to the citizens it serves, but it has ignored these people. bloomberg has officially lost control of his city. what happens tomorrow if 50,000 show up? will they have to call in the national guard?

A majority of the population, especially those in dense urban areas, do not have the skills to survive on their own. The skills that most people do have are only of use in the current system and are of very little use for survival.

Just think of how fast supplies fall of the shelves prior to a hurricane. What happens when a country full of guns and ammo runs out of Twinkies?

The only way their could be a revolution is if a branch of the military and major political players were involved. It would have to be very quick and efficient. See the U.S.S.R as an example .... and the U.S. is nowhere close to the state of the former Soviet Russia.

If there ever is a revolution, the people won't be behind it.

a revolution comes in many forms ... we're not talking civil war here ... look at what happened in egypt - i don't recall reading about mass starvation ...

i do agree that if there is one ... most people would not be behind it because the foundation of democracy in america is very weak ... but it still needs to happen ...

i'm open to any other suggestion ...
