Yeah, but for the Lightning, it's the right call as much as I hate it. He wanted 8MM or so a year, but then he will be almost 40. He's already become more of a PP specialist and his two way play has suffered. So do you think you can do what the Penguins tried to do and sign Syd and Malkin, but now you have all of that money tied up in older players and can't build your depth? That's what Tampa was facing. Instead they moved Serg (which surprised me) and signed a 29 year old Guentzel. It's the right move long term.

They let up to 20% or more of their seats be sold to an opposing teams fans in game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals. is there another fan base in the NHL that would happen? I can't think of one. And I didn't like the booing of the Conn Smythe award. And if that happened in Philly i'd call it out as well.

it's ICE hockey. in FLORIDA. a co worker of mine used to go down to florida every winter, would get rink side seats, a hot dog, and a beer all for $25. and the place was still nearly empty. You don't change that shit overnight. I'd say their fanbase is doing pretty well all things considered.
