Anyway... neither band is enough to draw me in (in fact, DMB is enough to keep me the hell away ), but I shouldn't complain too much. Lake Harriet Festival is scheduled for June 23 - 24 and I'll be in Amsterdam then about 2 days from seeing PJ twice.

It's already a pretty busy year though so I wouldn't be surprised to see them push it into Spring 2013 which would make me a sad panda. That would make it 10 years since Minnesota has had a proper PJ show. So wrong.

Really? I could be wrong, but I seem to remember that we had news about Backspacer (for a September release) by now. Unless we hear something soon, I think its pushing it that we'll see a record out this year.
Either way, I think there's a chance they'l do some US shows this year...its just a matter of where! Additionally, I do think there will be a large US tour within the next year, hopefully including a MN date or two.

Ten years or more since a lot of places have had a proper PJ gig. Not unless you like in Seattle, LA, Chicago, Philly, Boston, New York, Camden or Washington DC do you get a chance to see PJ without a plane ticket in hand...

My Morning Jacket was the headliner last year and played about fourteen songs. Def not worth PJ coming if they'll do setlists as long as the "Petty Jam" shows back in 2006.

I'm still thinking that maybe we get some US shows in September and October, but Ed's voice will be shit if he pushes it. We know he takes his solo shows pretty seriously.
On the flip side, Ed's voice should be ultra fresh come June. 4th and 5th shows are in Amsterdam...I'm hoping he's fresh.
But I do think its likely we'll get something...some US shows at some point this year (e.g. Alpine). Will all you MN kids go to Alpine if they do announce some shows there again this Labor Day? We definitely will be.

Well, the good news is, we're going to Amsterdam regardless of the PJ shows. Its our honeymoon, so PJ or not, we'll be there.

Ed's injury all but guarantees we won't be seeing PJ in MN until at least 2013. Stone said the album won't be done until next year as well. Obviously I want Ed to get better above anything but it sucks that we won't get any new PJ or a show here for likely another year.

If you want a bit of practice before the Euro tour, might I suggest Rock the Garden in Minneapolis. It's a great little outdoor festival that I'm sure you will have some friends at. It's June 16th, so after beer and karaoke at Nye's you could hop a plane to the UK, Delta has many flight options from the Twin Cities

Yeah, that's how it goes. The Kenwood neighborhood to the south of the Walker Art Center hill has a 10pm curfew the festival must follow. My Morning Jacket was the headliner last year and played about fourteen songs. Def not worth PJ coming if they'll do setlists as long as the "Petty Jam" shows back in 2006.

Agreed. They need to work out some of the new songs live before finalizing the album. Minnesotans would be a good audience to provide some constructive feedback after hearing the new songs live in 2012.
Shit. I think that might seal the deal on any extensive fall US tour.
I'm still thinking that maybe we get some US shows in September and October, but Ed's voice will be shit if he pushes it. We know he takes his solo shows pretty seriously.
On the flip side, Ed's voice should be ultra fresh come June. 4th and 5th shows are in Amsterdam...I'm hoping he's fresh.
But I do think its likely we'll get something...some US shows at some point this year (e.g. Alpine). Will all you MN kids go to Alpine if they do announce some shows there again this Labor Day? We definitely will be.

I know it's early but the a PJ tour would give me something to look forward to vs watching this Twins team.
