Has anyone still NOT received their Tenclub vinyl cut of Lightning Bolt?
I got the shipping confirmation two Mondays ago (10-7).
:( :( :( :( :( :(
Still nothing. However mine is currently in St. Paul, projected delivery date today (10/21). Ha.
Don't mean to whine, but it does irk me a bit. Didn't they claim on the preorder this would be delivered by the street date?
I think they did, but there are obvious some problems with this pressing. My guess: that's what's delaying everything. By no means does that excuse the startling lack of information coming from 10c. I got my shipping confirmation weeks ago...

Mine also says it's been sitting in St. Paul since yesterday. I believe the same thing happened with the Vault 3 vinyl in that once it got to the cities it sat fora day or two. It sounds like there were some delays with production and that's why they didn't get out on time. I'm more worries about the condition it's likely to be in based on a lot of reports!

Got back from Brooklyn and it was as good as everyone has been saying! My wife and I ended up sitting next to another Mn. couple on the first night. Hope you guys had a good trip home.
Nice! Glad to hear it. Catch any other shows out there?
Just the Brooklyn shows. We've got 4 kids, so we went over MEA break when the kids were off of school and we could find someone to watch them. 2 great shows and the big city was really cool!

1. Mind Your Manners - It's going to take a lot to knock this out as my favorite on the album. I think it's the tightest song on the album, both sonically and lyrically, and possibly one of the best they've written in years. Trend: holding
2. My Father's Son - it's all in the bass-line. Trend: moving up
3. Yellow Moon - reminds so much of the mountains, Colorado, outside, Into The Wild...makes sense that this is a Jeff tune. An absolute gem. Trend: holding
4. Lightning Bolt - this song is a great microcosm of the album as a whole. Parts of this song I'm not keen on (synth stuff), but there are enough other things going on that make this a great track. That's kind of the album in a nut shell. Trend: moving down
5. Swallowed Whole - the longer I listen to this song, the more I like it. Straight forward, less frills than other tracks. Good stuff. Trend: moving up
6. Getaway - I liked this song a lot more when I wasn't familiar with the other songs. Now, when compared with some of the other tracks, this song has lessened in its appeal. Still a great track and should be awesome live (if they ever play it, that is!). Trend: moving down (modestly)
7. Pendulum - haunting. This is a song that's definitely primed to be improved by a live rendition. Can't wait. Trend: moving up
8. Let The Records Play - this would be a better song if it weren't for that weird chorus. I can't figure it out. The song is bluesy, footstomping and has plenty of room for great, greasy guitar. That chorus comes out of nowhere and just...well, I don't know what it does. Can't figure it out. I suspect the live version will definitely sway my feelings on this one way or another. Trend: holding
9. Future Days - as a Pearl Jam song, this one is weird. It really only features Ed (Brendan O'Brien and some string arrangement, but they don't count), and as many have said, this is more of an Ed solo song than it is a PJ song (with an allusion to Dustin Hoffman and Lily Tomlin in I Heart Huckabees asking, "How am I not like myself?" ). But, objectively, as a love song, this is great. Cheesy? Sure. But what love song isn't? Anyone else's telling of their experience with the L word (no, not that L word) is always received by others as cheesy. I appreciate it for what it is. Trend: moving up (with a firm ceiling)
10. Infallible - originally, I had great expectations for this track, just based on how everyone raved about it. When I heard it, I was struck by how much it sounded like something else (since then, people have suggested it's reminiscence to Christian Aguilera's "Beautiful," which, now, I can't unhear). My first experience with it was that I didn't like it at all. It's just an odd tune all around: it's quirky, utilizes some odd background percussions (those "clicks" you hear), and doesn't feature the best of what PJ has to offer. Only later in the song does anything about the song really "take off," and even then, it's only a higher register of Ed singing the chorus. But, despite all that, I will admit, this song has gotten better the more I listen to it. Trend: moving up (modestly)
11. Sirens - the song is trending in the opposite way "Infallible" is. I didn't love this song at first, but I also didn't understand the hate for it. Now, the more I listen to it, I can't help but think of it as a missed opportunity for something more. To say nothing of the lyrics, the song feels "trapped" within itself. Perhaps it's just an extended jam away from being truly great? Trend: moving down
12. Sleeping By Myself - Like "Infallible," I have a hard time hearing this as anything but a novelty song. It's fine and there's really nothing awful about it, but if you weren't in love with anything off Ukulele Songs to begin with, this reworking doesn't add anything new. Trend: holding

Anyone getting excited for Chris Cornell next week?
Thought about it but I've seen him so many times and I felt tickets were too expensive. And I think ticketmaster glitched out when we tried to get them. So, no. But I'm not heartbroken. I'm sure the show will be killer though (if Cornell hasn't lost it yet :?)
about a month ago yieldinhiding sent me a txt challenging me to put together a mix of songs from the shows i've seen, and he'd do the same and then we would swap mixes. the only caveat was that even flow MUST be a part of the mix, though i think we both chose songs that meant something to us at the time or were just darn good performances. i think they both turned out well and i figured i'd share mine on here. perhaps if any of you feel inspired, you can do the same.

I decided to represent every show i have been to- it gave me a reason to listen to some or all of every show. Songs in the "Main Set" and "Encore 2" are taken from official releases. Audience recordings were used otherwise, and all audienced-sourced tracks conveniently made a nice "Encore 1". In some cases I kept the pre-song dialog to make it seem more like a show- I did put a lot of effort to making this flow like an actual concert despite the limitations of the sources and mp3 files.
I didn't make a conscious effort to pick songs based on performance, rather that the performance meant something to me at the time. Don't get me wrong, some are on here because they are kick ass versions, but I tried to assemble a collection of tracks that were highlights of the show for me as a fan, either because I love the song or it was one of those "I never thought I'd hear this" moments.
Rationale: (put into scrolling code so this post isn't a whole page long)
Disc 1
1. Of the Girl (4:12)
My favorite Pearl Jam song, opening a hometown show. This was a given.
2. Interstellar Corduroy (5:12)
Pink Floyd are my favorite band, and anytime the band does a Floyd tune, I take notice. My first choice was to put "Mother" from Wrigley on here somewhere, but I couldn't find a decent sounding recording that wasn't missing part of the song. So "Interstellar Overdrive" it is. Though only a brief prelude to Corduroy, their take on it was something I'd wanted to hear live. Syd Barrett, original Floyd songwriter, passed away a couple weeks later, making this more special.
3. Save You (3:38)
In retrospect, the Chicago 06 shows were decent shows without a ton of highlights. Save You live is usually pretty good, but this version was aces.
4. Why Go (3:37)
The Lollapalooza crowd was something else. This was the perfect song to start with.
5. Johnny Guitar (2:43)
The best song on Backspacer, I really liked hearing this in KC.
6. Glorified G (3:21)
Glorified G is in my list of top songs, so hearing this for the first time in the second encore of the second of two shows in Chicago 2006 was pretty unexpected.
7. In The Moonlight (3:10)
Man, it's great that one of the few things 10c has put out from PJ20 was also one of the highlights of the weekend. There is no song in the Pearl Jam catalog that Josh Homme is more suited to sing.
8. Immortality (5:57)
For some reason, the note Mike sustains at the start of his solo always give me some goosebumps. This was the first time I heard Immortality, and it's still my favorite.
9. Present Tense (5:37)
At the time the Thunder Bay show was fairly underwhelming. But I've grown to like the bootleg more than the show. I'd never considered Present Tense as an opener before, so it was a nice surprise.
10. Nothing As It Seems (5:37)
The one and only time I got to hear this song. I wish that wasn't the case.
11. Off He Goes (6:51)
The LA 06 shows were light on personal highlights (though they're not bad shows), but I remember really enjoying this performance of a song I don't usually choose as a favorite.
12. Who You Are (4:52)
There were a few songs I went to my first show in 1998 really wanting to hear. Who You Are was one of them. I didn't hear it that night, and then over time resigned myself to the idea that I would likely never get to hear it. Bonnaroo is my favorite place to be, and Pearl Jam being there in 2008 was the merging of two of my biggest interests. So with these 3 factors in place, when I realized they were ACTUALLY playing Who You Are, I don't think I had ever been happier at a PJ show.
13. Breakerfall (2:21)
This came out of seemingly nowhere in Thunder Bay, it's placement late in the set really taking me by surprise. One of my favorites on Binaural, it's still the only time I've heard this song at a show.
14. Big Wave (3:21)
I know I am in a minority when I say I love this song, but I do. The LA I show was so similar to the San Diego show two nights before it that it was hard to pick a song, so I went with Big Wave since it is one of the few parts of the show I wasn't disappointed with.
15. Supersonic Intro (0:35)
16. Supersonic (2:36)
Another song I seem to be in the minority of in really liking, and this performance was the first time I had ever heard the song, period.
17. Blood (3:19)
The Winnipeg show was the first time I heard Blood and though Eddie couldn't sing it well in 2005 (or now!) I loved hearing it.
18. Even Flow (8:39)
I wasn't excited about having to pick an Even Flow- I wouldn't have if YieldInHiding didn't insist on it. But the decision of which one to choose wasn't hard- this one is memorable for a few reasons, 1) it's as fast as I've ever heard it played, and I think it was the band feeding off the energy of the Lolla crowd. 2) I enjoyed the drum solos Matt did in 06-07, and this one was inspired, possibly because of the FIREWORKS that appeared behind the stage (from Soldier Field) during the middle of it. What a cool moment.
Disc 2
1. Release (4:56)
The Boston crowd was amazing. This is still one of my favorite moments at a Pearl Jam show- the whole building was into it.
2. Masters of War (6:47)
This might be my favorite cover that they do. Ed sings this with the right tone.
3. Chloe Dancer/Crown of Thorns (8:24)
The Wrigley show goes down as one of the most uniques concert experiences I've ever had. Performance-wise, this was the highlight of the show, no question.
4. No Way (4:38)
I really wish I didn't have to resort to audience sources for this. Unbelievable that Stone would rather play a PiL cover than this song. Stone needs to get his shit together. By hearing this song, it meant I had heard all of Yield live. That's pretty cool.
5. My Generation Blues/Porch (8:19)
Lots of memorable things about that first show, not least of which was Stone's guitar problems leading to a few minutes of non-stop crowd applause. But this was one of the real highlights for me.
6. Encore Break (1:45)
7. W.M.A. (6:18)
Like Who You Are, W.M.A. was on the list of songs I wanted to hear at my first show only to come to realize they didn't play the song anymore. For this to happen at Bonnaroo, also, was incredible serendipity. Bonnaroo was an amazing show, overall, and my favorite Pearl Jam show I've been to.
8. Bugs (3:05)
With this show happening on Halloween, you figured anything could happen. And it did- the band played Whip It in full Devo costume! But Ed also played this, complete with Matt on shakers and a string quartet. Avant-garde music come to life.
9. Out Of My Mind Intro (0:52)
10. Out Of My Mind (3:54)
I don't think we ever found out who or how much money got this song to be played, but the band nailed it on a night when they weren't at their performing best (but still played their longest and one of their more celebrated shows).
11. Wasted Reprise (1:08)
Nothing specifically notable about this version, but I think you shouldn't have a Life Wasted without a Wasted Reprise, so here it is.
12. Life Wasted (3:39)
Since 2006 I've heard Life Wasted at all but 2 shows I have attended. I like the song, but it's acheiving Even Flow status for me. This version has been cited as the definitive live version of the song- getting put on tour compilations by people who actually listen to every show.
13. Rearviewmirror (10:10)
I was never a big RVM fan until this performance. Every time I listen to it I wonder why we can't have more PJ like *this*. I also like the continuity with Ed reprising the "never going back again" lyrics from Life Wasted before it.
14. Indifference (6:54)
Give me Indifference as a closer over Ledbetter, Alive, RITFW, etc. any day. It took until show #21 for me to get one.
now, if pearl jam wants to come to minnesota and play this set, i wouldn't complain.

Just the Brooklyn shows. We've got 4 kids, so we went over MEA break when the kids were off of school and we could find someone to watch them. 2 great shows and the big city was really cool!

Mine arrived yesterday
Currently:

Thought about it but I've seen him so many times and I felt tickets were too expensive. And I think ticketmaster glitched out when we tried to get them. So, no. But I'm not heartbroken. I'm sure the show will be killer though (if Cornell hasn't lost it yet :?)

Rationale: (put into scrolling code so this post isn't a whole page long)
now, if pearl jam wants to come to minnesota and play this set, i wouldn't complain.
I've only been to like 10 shows. :?
Hopefully Cornell or Soundgarden don't wait over seven years (like a certain band) to return to minnesota.
