Just saw the movie in MN. It was absolutely amazing! The band continues to make awesome music and stay together and so strong as a band after all these years! They are a true class act and should be proud of who they are and what they have accomplished. The movie was so awesome! It was a must see by everyone I think. I took my 5 year old daughter and she enjoyed it too! I would have liked to have been there with a group of friends or fans that I could have talked to afterwards because if you are a crazy fan like myself, after seeing the movie all you want to do is talk about it! Anyone know if there is a Mpls, MN PJ Fan club of people that meet as a group?
The music has always been a huge part of my life and PJ has brought me great joy in times of saddness. I love you PJ!!!! Thank you for all you have done and continue to do!!!
So good!!!
My favorite part was when Stone talked about listening to Cornell and Ed singing on Hunger Strike..."We got a pretty fuckin' good singer too!"
Awesome...
Wanted to strangle Rooney though. Anybody else?...What a bag!
What a great look at the band...excellent footage!! Very well put together! Oh yeah fair amount of people for small town Saskatoon..see y'all in Calgary

I wanted the answers to those mysteries revealed -- finally. The fan deaths seemed shoe-horned into the film. As a fan of Crowe, I had hoped he would provide more journalism than propaganda. I already know why I love this band. After 20 years, I wanted to know something new, something that would contribute to my multideimensional connection with the band.
I dunno, I just don't get where you are coming from. On one side you want a more accessible film for non-fans as you say in your review and on the other side you want a journalistic exploration of stuff that is only of interest to the die-hards. It couldn't really be both.
It comes across like you wanted to see the schockumentary 'Pearl Jam Twenty: The drugs, the tragedy, the mystery' which it was never gonna be.
In your review you state that the film is supposed a 'celebration of the band' and that is exactly what it does, it is a film celebrating Pearl Jam. If you wanted a sex, lies and videotape version you probably mised the point of making the film before you entered the theatre.
It's nothing personal, I just think you got it wrong on the review.
Loved the movie - so well put together and definitely going to it again with my sister who I took to her 1st show Philly 4 2009. Brought back so many memories of following the band over the years and being a fan. There is no way a fan could walk out after seeing it and not truly appreciate the journey it's been.
Loved the fact that it ended with Alive from Philly 3 2009 which was my 50th show. I just wish there was a close-up of the smile Ed had that night after that song.
Luckily I captured it and many of you saw it on twofeetthick's review but I figured I'd post it on here tonight because seeing the end of the movie just brings back memories of that show and that I have had of the band over the years.
Blew my fucking mind! Loved every second of it. Thank you Cameron Crowe and of course Jeff, Stone, Mike, Matt, Eddie, Boom and Jack, Dave A and Dave K. What a journey it's been, here's to the next 20 Years. October 25 is too far away for the Deluxe DVD!!!!
Had to leave just as the credits started rolling, so i could get the last train home, did i miss anything exciting? Walk with me was playing as I exited. Very cool film, thanks for any replies
Hands down the best movie I have ever seen! Or at least the best documentary movie!
Love Ed's House! So fucking cool!

Just because he didn't love the film, he didn't necessarily get it 'wrong'. It's his opinion.
I didn't dislike the film either, I thought it was a fun way to spend two hours, but I didn't think it was brilliant by any means. I felt like the most interesting parts of what makes this band great were barely touched on - it's Cameron Crowe's idea of what Pearl Jam is and that isn't how every fan sees them.
To me the only good thing bout the movie was the Andy Wood stuff. After those 30 min it was stuff I already knew bout. I wanted more of the break up with Dave A and the power shifting from Stone to Ed. I guess being Crowe is a friend and all i wasn't gonna get a true documentary. To me it was way happy go lucky. I loved it a lot just wish it was more of a true documentary. Also it was just so fucking weird to see Cornell cry when he was talking bout. Also it's weird how Andy always wanted what the band is now and yet Ed always wanted to be a small club band.
Btw- did anyone who was at msg 2 get chills seeing that betterman footage on the big screen? Also i've never sat first did dead center for a movie lol.
Ron: I just don't feel like going out tonight
Sammi: Wanna just break up?

Oh, and I love how my username on here was mentioned by Jeff (in the context of the film, not referencing me directly)!
Seriously, check out Eraserhead if you've not done so already. And then everything else David Lynch has put his name to.

Loved how Crowe slotted in clips from other films, really playful use of his own medium that made for some great comedy moments - briefly cutting to David Lynch for example or Eraserhead showed it wasn't only the band that were going to surprise with their sense of humour. Stone in his kitchen, Mike's shock at being nominated to cover the 'drummers', Matt's attempt to learn 80 songs overnight, Jeff's face when Eddie was on the ceiling, Ed laughing at yet another grunge question then rubbing his teeth, and on and on...a real collection of wonderfully intimate moments. My ultimate fav was probably the look on Ed's face after talking about Pete Townshend, in a split second the camera manages to capture that wonder at how incredible things can be, almost a baffling disbelief that this is a real thing...and that is fundamentally what Pearl Jam is for me. Magic film, go see it.
When Stone was saying how it used to be him and Jeff making the big decisions and writing the songs...and now it's so clear that Ed leads the way......pointed out to me that Stone is the glue.
How many bands not only survive a power shift like that? Much less get BETTER. Shows to me how Stone and Jeff are both humble musicians who put the band ahead of any ego.
Bands don't stay together this long, this good, this significant.
If Stone didn't see the big picture and understand Ed, they wouldn't have made it to Matt Cameron, much less PJ20.
You da' man, Stone.
100% agree. Well said. My appreciation of Stone as the solid rock of the band has never been higher.

What is better than seeing a movie about your favourite band? Being in the movie... Twice! :-)
Twice? Well I'm impressed.. I figure you were the Aussie girl interviewed, 2nd time saying something about thanking the band
and how much they mean to people?
Yes, that was me, although I didn't hear much, the people I was with were cheering. That was my voice at the end of the trailer too. I'm just glad the band know how much I appreciate them ;-)
You said what most of us feel and think about the band. Am so proud of you and your statement. Thank you, star!!!

We didn't get any singers in Portsmouth I was sat next to some lads who I didn't think would appreciate my (lack of) vocal talents. Plenty of laughter though which was cool, it was great to see a big turnout, loads more than I expected.

Ed's house is in it? Now that place must be a "vault" of memorabilia and music. Can't wait to see the film.
What would be interesting or possibly come out of that?
If they focused more on that in the doc I think it would've been a tremendous waste of time
PS: I had a desperate pee but refused to go as I did'nt want to miss one second of it.
Just love the band so much more now. Stone is soooo cool!
Ha. Me too. I was in trouble 15 minutes in. By the time the movie was over I had tears of pain.
