Love for Riot Act because it's the last Pearl Jam album that actually sounds and "feels" like a Pearl Jam album. The last two just don't have the tone of all the others. I hope they can still capture that. It's the last album to have that mystery, that intensity and thoughtfulness that sets this band apart from all others. They've now become less poetic, more literal and straightforward. Don't get me wrong, I like "Pearl Jam" and "Backspacer" but they represent a shift in sound that I've missed since Riot Act.

  • I bought Riot act when it just came out in '02 and only just recently have been listening to it...over and over and over and have developed quite a fondness for it. So now I'm wondering WHY it took so long! Some people just aren't ready for some things right away. You don't find music. Music finds you.

I think Riot Act is fantastic.

I think I can safely say it was the last time that I loved a PJ album on first listen.

It's got a heavy kinda vibe - I guess Roskilde is all over it - but that's better than no vibe at all.

I was pretty annoyed that PJ didn't play a single track from it when I saw them in Auckland, especially since the last time they were in NZ Yield had only just come out. Felt a bit ripped off. Just one song would have been nice.

Save You is in my Top Ten PJ tunes.
