I absolutely can not watch a program on TV unless it's in HD. Anyone else like this?

Without a doubt. I don't even scan through the SD channels at all anymore.

  • I get a headache when I go over to my friend's house. he doesn't have an HD tv and everything looks really blurry and grainy.

I hate being such a snob.

I went to my buddies house a few weeks ago and he had just gotten a new 55" Sony LED tv, and it was stunning looking. So we decided we wanted to watch a movie so we went to get some beers and go to the Redbox and I just assumed we were looking for a Blu Ray, but no he still just had a DVD player. I told him that was such a waste of an awesome tv so we went back to my place and I just gave him the cheap Blu Ray player that I had bought for my spare bedroom. His LED tv did nothing to deserve to be treated that way.

we got HD, and I didn't really care for it...on a 32" screen

then we got a 52" screen and... :o

then the color wheel blew out, right after we bought the $100 lamp...so we're back to the 32"

    I still only watch HD

yes, size DOES make a difference... :(

Same here. I was checking the weather on SD channels yesterday and flipped a few down to the NFL Network to check the trades and stuff. Was watching and thought something was wrong with the TV. Flipped the guide and realized I was on standard TV. I have become an HD snob and just bought a Bluray player. It's great. :D

I don't know if they even offer HD in the tiny little town where I live. Is it pretty much national now? That is how much tv I watch though. I have no idea what they even offer.

It's funny you posted this. My wife has accused me of this a few days ago. I just recently purchased our first HD tv a few months ago. The tv we had just stopped working for no reason, it was a very nice Sony standard definition and I had hoped that it would have last (we have had it for over 8 years). Ever since I have been watching baseball, hockey games on HD I know now what I had been missing! The picture quality is just so real. I find myself only watching HD now and if my wife puts something on regular cable I always check to see if the channel has a corresponding HD channel. It drives her nuts!

I can't believe some people still don't have HD. I want them to get rid of the standard channels already. it's been over 10 years! The HD tvs are only a few hundred dollars. It's the same as when they kept transmitting B&W signals for 40 years after the intro of color tv.

    I'm totally a HD snob.

I even get pissed when a cable channel is only 720p!

Bluray is the ONLY way to watch a movie at home!

Oh, I'm also a bit of an audio snob too...

When we had friends over they couldn't believe that I still did not have an HD tv. I wanted one, I just couldn't justify buying one because the tv we did have worked so well. Now that I own an HD tv, I can now see what I was missing picture/quality wise.

Buying an HD TV definitely didn't help. I can tolerate stuff that isn't HD, but if it's sports... it really affects my viewing pleasure.

SD = sexy time with a rubber.

I am a total HD snob. I refused to go to a super bowl party a friend of mine was having last year because he didnt have an HDTV. Also, I can't stand when I'm out at a bar trying to watch a game and there's no HD. So many bars have the actual HDTVs, but don't get the HD service...drives me crazy.

You need to treat yourself to an upgrade. I can't believe all of these sports games that we talk about around here...you are watching in SD!!!

Exactly. Being the sports fan that 81 is, this is where I made my assumption.
