there was an option to pay in full or do it 20 up front

not even sure about the pros and cons of doing that way

the 1pm deadline is really there because most of the games are at 1pm

if someone misses the 1pm picks

should they be allowed to select from only the 4pm , 8pm and monday games?????

some people like to make their picks sunday after they get some gameday info

and then shit can happen

Absolutely they should be able to pick the remaining games...in fact if someone had been tied up till say 3PM yesterday, should have been able to pick 6 games from the late games/night games. As long as the picks are in before the particular game kicks off, no problem.
Of course everyone should attempt to get their 6 picks in as early as possible, but life gets in the way sometimes.

we never had this come up before

was it once or twice last year that someone was missing until at least tuesday so they had to go 0-6?

i also think that if something delays you from making your 1pm picks, you should be able to pick from the remaining games

as long as it is prior to the kickoffs

but

i also think that this should be for "shit happens" purposes only

meaning

if you pm me picks prior to the 1pm kickoffs

you have to make 6 picks at that time, not just the 1pm games

i do not think i can be at the ready to recieve pm's all day long

I think you had the spreads posted and everyone has known for a month they were going to have to make the picks. In my local pick'em league that I've been running for 5 years we play for a weekly $5 and $20 on the season. Everyone knows that if they miss a week they are screwed on the overall. So they don't miss a week. Everyones life is busy but when we signed up for this we knew when we had to have the picks in. Allowing the picks to be made later gives an advantage that those of us who picked on time don't get.

I understand that emergencies happen but really it takes a whole 5 mins. to get on and make your picks. In this day and age I imagine most of you have smart phones and can make your picks from anywhere in the world.

That said I'll go along with whatever the majority thinks we should do. Maybe Eric if you set us up on Yahoo or CBSsportsline it would be easier for you to track. I don't believe in the 'shit happens' rule, if one of us is allowed to pick late then we all should be allowed to, which would make it a pain in the ass for you.

My vote is that everyone should have their picks in at least 1/2 an hour before the first kick-off on Sunday.

I agree. 1 hour would be better though; no need to leave it so late. I made my picks on friday night. I don't expect everyone to do that, but the lines are posted on Friday mornings, so that gives people plenty of time to make their picks by Sunday morning. And I also agree that we should be making our Monday night picks on Sunday morning, too.

I also think everyone should get one chance to be late with their picks. It should be a one-time only rule, in my opinion. Guys can't be late with their picks every other week. But if you are late once and miss Sunday, I think you should get to pick the Monday night game, as long as it's in an hour or so before kick off. But again, we only get to do this one time.

Eric, if you are OK with tracking at random points of time who submitted which picks, I am ok w/allowing. Seems like a pain in the balls for you to have to do that. I think it should be set moving forward at 15-30 minutes prior to kickoff and it you miss, you miss.

My picks sucked ass this week.

In my PM to Eric submitting my shitty picks I jokingly added 'and put $400 on Utah and the Under' referencing Saturday's USC vs Utah Pac12 opener.
Did anyone happen to see how that game ended? Cant believe this has happened too many times in Vegas.

Clock running down, Utah is down by 3 and goes for the FG to tie. USC blocks and returns the FG making the score 23-14. However, USC is flagged for a sideline penalty from their players going bonkers and getting on the field as they celebrated. The officials (bafflingly) take away the Touchdown and allow the blocked FG play to stand, announce the game is over.

Buddy #1 is in Las Vegas and immediately cashes his bet out (he had Utah)
Buddy #2 is in New Orleans and bets through a book. He bet on USC and freaked out Saturday night as it was a 3k swing based on that touchdown being disallowed.
Sunday AM I get a text from Buddy #2 -- they changed the score of the USC game and his book followed that ruling and he now won his bet on USC to cover.

Fucking insano.
