Nightmare venue with early curfew, but it will be good
i saw broken social scene there last year. i thought it was fine. they played for 3 hours.....i made the mistake of showing up as they were going on though and was unable to secure a good spot. it's probably the smallest outdoor venue i've ever been to, as far as the area where you can actually see the show.....but i'm sure svrdhand from nyc is already familiar with that. this tour is gonna amazing. after hearing the new album, i hope they scratch all of wilco (the album) from the set lists....with the exception of bull black nova.

By itself, its a beautiful spot and the sound is good.
But forget moving, getting a beer or taking a piss. And the 10pm curfew blows.

you're right about the moving part. definitely not a good idea and i made that mistake too. i could've sworn bss played from 8-11 when i was there though. anyway, the important thing is that wilco is performing. have fun.

Okay now I am very excited to hear this album and to to the show. Especially since pj20 is now over .

I was at that BSS show. They are damn good live.
And I have grown to really dislike that "Wilco" album. I'll Fight For You is the only song I ever listen to off it.

'One Sunday Morning' is such an amazing song! It may have just become my favourite Wilco song ever.
I was listening to it on the way home from work last night, sitting on the train with my headphones in, watching the sun set out of the window... I just drifted away to some other place - the perfect setting for a perfect song.

i'm so happy about this album. unbelievable. instant classic. listened twice now. this is the best album of the year and nothing else that i've heard or could imagine hearing could come close.
i'm often a prisoner of the moment when hearing new music from a favorite band. happened again. still really like the album, and i like it a lot more than wilco (the album), but i don't think it's gonna be my favorite of the year. i'll be surprised if it makes my top 5. first and last tracks are amazing. good album, but wouldn't fit in with their classic run of 'being there - 'a ghost is born' like i had felt with my initial reaction.

I only gave it one listen so far, but I do not think it is too far behind Wilco's run of greats. I can see it being in my top 5 after giving it more listens.
I've been meaning to get around to listening to the new album but haven't gotten to yet! Seeing Wilco live on Sunday in MD and really really excited! Should be a great time (so long as it doesn't rain- we have lawn seats!)

Make sure you listen to the new album before you go! They have been playing at least 5 new tracks at each show. The new album is in their top 3 or 4 for me.
Wilco is such a great band. Being from Chicago Ive been seing them for years. I love that you can still see them in small theaters and clubs with really no hassles for tickets. That show last night was awesome. They always sound like they are on. These guys really know how to play their instruments.
I am so disappointed in the Wilco show tonight at Central Park. First of all, the band came on at 7pm because of the rain!!! I have never heard of an opening band coming on that early. They blamed the bad weather that was on its way, yet I was out for hours afterwards and it was not that bad at all. The band put the info on their Twitter earlier that day. I guess now I have to constantly check a bands website to make sure they are not playing ridiculously early . I got there at 7:30 (I knew they started at 7:50 the night before in the same venue and that many other bands start their show at 8 at that venue) to miss the two songs that I wanted to see most. What luck!
To make matters worse, the sound was horrible. Not the band's fault, but then venues. I know that Central Park always has their sound turned down but this was the worst it had ever been. The band seemed to rush through their set to finish before any really heavy rain came. And I hate when bands use pre-recorded sounds to compliment their playing- if you can't do it onstage then don't do it at all. I really wish I did not pay the $50 for this show. Easily the worst I've been to in the last few years.
I was at the show last night as well.
I too arrived at 7:30 and missed the first three songs.
I too was bummed that they ended early.
But when they played it was good. The sound was turned down, but it wasn't bad at all.
Was this your first time seeing them? The sound effects and the "noise" are part of the wilco sound.
Short, decent show. Oh and it poured. Perhaps they had couldnt use part of the sound system due to the rain. Some of the lights were definitely not being used.
Its the venue-Every time I go there I have something to complain about.

had an amazing time at the show. now i just need to search for a download of the npr stream. the new songs sounded great, and the band was as tight as ever. loved the stage setup and lights for this tour. t shirts were really cool too, i got the grey one with the album art. it was a little shorter than the last few shows i've seen them play, but i think it was consistent with most of the other sets from the tour. anytime you get the chance to see wilco, you know it's gonna be great. if you have a terrible time at a wilco show, chances are, that's a you problem. just sayin.
....another note, i wish more concert crowds would be like wilco crowds. probably a result of not too many young people being very interested in their music, but still, such a peaceful bunch last night.
