well, I know there is some sort of solid system (which somehow failed you). I got to my seats tonight, which were vastly different than Camden I, and everyone in my row was in the same exact order as the row the night before. I didnt realize the ticketing was that precise.

when you say "vastly different", do you mean better or worse?

check touringfans.net virginia beach seat stats. looks like 100xxx - 200xxx did better than under 100x.

100-200 got orchestra, under 100 got side sections behind orchestra

I'm 80XXX and I was third row in the orchestra - exactly where I SHOULD have been...

Probably, and that's why they instituted the lottery for rows 1&2.

I'm sorry there was a glitch for some on Thursday. I don't know why some folks feel necessary to act like pricks because someone's JUSTIFIABLY upset about a mistake.

The current system - when it works correctly, which is 99% of the time, I think - is as good as it gets. To the people who say ALL the tickets should be via a lottery: get a life. The seniority system rewards fans who've stuck with PJ forever. Not coincidentally, these are the same people likely to travel to lots of shows. Would I be going to 9 shows this tour if I didn't know my # would get me a great seat? No, so the seniority system is both a nice reward and also a smart sales tactic for the 10C.

Face it: if I didn't know my # guaranteed me good seats, what incentive would there be to be in the club in non-tour years? If it's a lottery for ALL the seats, I'd just drop my membership until I know a tour's coming, and I wouldn't be alone. Changing the seniority seating system would probably kill the 10C due to all the money they'd lose.

I very much like the new system because it's a great compromise. It still rewards the old timers like me, but it gives the newer members a shot at great seats.

I can't believe that some are still bitching about the seniority system... :(

I'm not in the band or anything ... but I'm pretty sure that's why they changed the system for this tour.

I'm all for the seniority system as well, it's just nice that they switch it up for a smaller tour to let some other people get a little closer once a decade or so.........

i'm a 92xxx and i was way off to the side behind the orhcestra, row C of section 101, seats 5 and 6 i think. my wife is a 132xxx and was 5th row in front of stone, center orchestra section.

i used touringfans info to correctly predict that i'd be about 4th row towards the center for columbia. using that same info, due to less people registering, i figured i might actually bump up to row 3 for vabch, even if it was off to the side a little.

take a look at the va beach touringfans.net page. i'm not the only <100 who wound up there, and my wife isn't the only >100 who did better

i was similarly screwed with my 164xxx. so pissed. and honestly, if it were appropriately done by seniority and i was that far back but it turns out that there were alot of older fan club members there, i'd never bitch.

but this was a big screw up. our seats were basically equivolent with lawn seats, which were cheaper and would not have required me wasting an hour on pearljam.com trying for seats like a mad woman. it needs to get rectified. i recieved the following email, which did little to comfort me that i wouldn't be sitting in the 400s at MSG or Hartford:

think the rule should be by senority. the year you joined the club and how high or low your number is. it doesnt really mean i am a bigger fan if i have a low number but, it should be based on senority. i think the lottery should or could be done for some shows but, not all. remember grand rapids people were so mad with lower numbers cause they were all the way in back. i might be a little mad too. i was mad one time in a pj show forgot the year but, the fan club screwed tickets up they gave the higher numbers front row and the lower numbers all the way in the back. once in awhile its ok but, not all the time. it should be based on senority. i bet the fan club did it cause maybe the band got sick of the same people in the front rows who had went to mutiple shows. but, anyway we should just be happy they are touring and we should be happy we are in the venue seeing them. ive seen them lots of times in the lawn and i had fun.also if you are very short too if your way far back its hard to see.

FYI: #160xxx here, also got horrible tickets section 204 row S, 2 rows from the lawn, not bitching just stating my facts

second night 9th row far left side, big difference
50+ shows and lost count somewhere along the way

The only problem with the touringfans page is that not everyone uses it. I know plenty of people here that don't use it. Plus all the other 10 clubbers that don't post here or don't even know about this place probably won't be using it either.

you know they could choose to just scrap the 10c all together w/ all the bitching and then your number won't mean shit- everyone will be standing in line together at ticketmaster for lawn seats. I know it sucks when you get shafted, but it's not like 10c sits there trying to screw you over- they are trying their best to appease everyone so just chill out

i understand that, but look at the facts of the people who did use it. it's not perfect, but if you'll look you'll see that the 100-200 crowd had orchestra, and at least two of the 10 or so who registered (that's 20 percent) were in side seats behind the orch sections

Something was definitely up at Camden II... My number is 316,xxx and i was in section 104, one of my friends is a 450,xxx or something and was in section 203 like 3rd row. I've been seeing people with 100,xxx and 200,xxx numbers that were in the back of the 200 sections.

Im glad I got better seats than usual. Maybe 10C decided to spice it up everywhere instead of just have the few lotto rows?

I hope my seats are just as good in DC

I actually got an email back from the Ten Club about two days after the Camden show. They acknowledged the mistake at the box office and knew I was one of the people affected. I'm a 167XXX and I was sitting in Section 204 also, my friend is a 172XXX and was sitting in the 13th row of Section 101. The email seemed sincere and they said they will work their hardest to never have this happen again.....They said that sometimes things at the box office get chaotic and there are mistakes....I'll take it for what it's worth, but it seemed genuine and sincere to me

Does it say anything about how hypocritical it is for a band that requests we speak out and support free speech to have a message board where censorship reigns supreme?

Disneyland is world renowned in "spectacular recovery." Surveys repeatedly reveal that people who experienced a problem during their visit had a HIGHER overall satisfaction level than people who had no problems at all. Because da Mouse works extra hard to make it right, to compensate folks for inconveniences and screw-ups. Folks talk about the spectacular recovery, more folks are less concerned with booking large trips knowing if something goes wrong, da Mouse will make it right.

My only experience -- Peter Pan breaks down, kids are in car in front of us suspended in air for 5 minutes, cast member walks into room and keeps 'em company the entire time, supervisor hands us, completely unprompted, before I could open my mouth, an "instant on" pass to any ride in the park the moment we exited the ride.

They are the model of customer service that all companies seek to emulate in this regard. Just sayin -- a letter of regret is simply bare minimum. 10C could throw a shirt, a poster, a store credit at these incidents with out a blip on the bottom line -- unless it's a lot more rampant than we're hearing....

Reputation is hard to build, easy to destroy.
