Have you tried the backseat of the car? It works for teenagers.

What we tried, and it seems to have worked with a few friends too, was that the day after your cycle, have sex every 2-3 days. Waiting a couple of days helps- and as some have said- relaxing and not thinking about it too.

I've not had to do the IVF, but I had one friend who had 3 miscarriages, did the shots for a year and then did IVF, I think 3 rounds, and she had twins this year. It was a long and frustrating process. And it takes a lot of patience.

    Good luck Ziggy
  • Be careful with Clomed. It is BAD! I've been told that 3months is the max a woman should be on it but here in the states our Dr. will keep prescribing it as long as our insurance will cover it. I'd stop the clomed and move on to IVF. It is costly but your health is very important. In Canada it is illegal for a Dr. to prescribe it for more than 3 months because of the potential harm.
    Try acupuncture.

Ok, I can somewhat relate to this as far as the feelings of stress and disappointment. We tried for 5.5 years for our son.

    Have patience and relax.

Remember that the of you two want to have your baby to celebrate your love. I know firsthand that this process does wear on a relationship. So please, please, please remember this is not a job you have to get done, but a journey you are taking together. Otherwise this can wear heavily on the both of you, and you'll both be exhausted even before Lil Ziggy arrives.

Side note: My friend has severe PCOS, and she did get pregnant without reaching the IVF stage. She was on ovulation medication, but I am not sure which one though. They now have a healthy baby boy.

    Stay strong.
Lots of love, light and hugs to you all!

I have read that there is a connection between Clomid and higher rates of ovarian, cervical and uterine cancer....however when I asked my ob/gyn, she said the studies show a link -- but did the Clomid actually cause the cancer....or were these people already at a higher risk of cancer anyway since they already had ovarian/cervical/uterine issues?

She said the amount of time I have been/will be on it is fine. I've been on it for 6 cycles now since we had to slowly build me up each month to see how much I actually need to make me ovulate. I'm now on the maximum dose she's allowed to prescribe and it's still not working as well as it should be. I will have been on Clomid for 9 cycles by the end....if these next three months don't work, she said the chance of it working in subsequent months is slim to none.

Wouldn't the ovulation drugs I inject for ivf be just as bad as Clomid? They do the same thing....stimulate the ovaries to force them to produce and release eggs....except the ivf drugs are a SHITLOAD more intense and overstimulate them so they can collect a bunch of eggs at once. I wonder if they use Clomid just in way higher doses or a completely different drug?

Apparently when your ovaries are overstimulated, you can feel them start to buzz inside you. :? Weird!

Fuck! 5.5 years?! My ob/gyn asked me at my last appt how my relationship is going while dealing with this....I was like "Huh? Ahhh fine....just normal?!" and she said that a lot of relationships really suffer from it. It hasn't caused us a single issue....not much really phases us though....and I guess we've been through a lot in our 13 years....this is just another one of those things.

    Thanks Shimmy!

I know lots of IVF babies! Lots of singles, 1 set of twins and another set of triplets! Out of all my friends who wanted children and couldn't conceive naturally only one couple didn't end up having a baby, they didn't try IVF, too expensive for them, they chose the adoption route. They are now approved to get a little girl from China. Wishing you the best of luck and a happy healthy baby! ox

Yay! This is what I want to hear!! :D

But triplets?! :o That's not something I want to hear! haha I'm 5'1 and 51 kgs (113 pounds). I don't think triplets would be possible. :?

Good luck to you, I'll probably send a PM. Been there, done a lot of this, never got to IVF though.

Relaxation is so key. Plus I echo what other people have said, it's hard on the relationship - the fertility drugs I took made me super bitchy (bitchier than usual), I'm sure I was no fun to be around. But we got through it.

And it all works out. We have two children, one biological, one adopted. And they're the greatest things that ever happened to me.

    So good luck again!

Not really. Little pin pricks. Definitely better than getting a tattoo.

The key is to go to someone who is recommended as opposed to just anyone.

    Good luck.

I don't think accupuncture hurts. It is a very relaxing treatment. The place I go is similar to a spa, so I'm on a massage table, soft music, good smells. I know that my insurance doesn't cover the procedure, but the health benefits were worth the cost. I was paying about $80 US 1x week.

Make sure the accupuncturist you do see is versed in doing it for fertility. Ask their success rates.

I also wanted to let you know, my friend who had PCOS had wait to get into the IVF clinic for a long time too. It just so happened on the first appointment, where they were doing her ultrasound to see what they could of her PCOS, is when they discovered she was pregnant.  So, you just never can tell what will happen in 10 weeks.

This is probably going to sound really airy fairy but I think it's true.
I think you need to be really relaxed and try not to stress about it too much. I had an ectopic pregnancy (which was extremely painful) and I was stressing after that there was something wrong and I couldn't get pregnant. Hubby took me away for a little while and I just tried to relax while we were away and soon after we got back, I was preggas. So my advice to you would be just try to relax about it and not get too stressed. The very best of luck to you both Ziggy.

If ya don't mind I'm gonna second on the airy fairy ... I feel its true too. I have had (3) friends do IVF without success ... a few months to a year or so later after giving up completely they each conceived - of course at separate times : ) - one even had twins ...

Have you considered acupuncture? I know a friend who had trouble conceiving and this helped her ...

Darlin' follow your heart ... you truly know what's best for you! It will all work out ... Wishing you all the best! And looking forward to hearing about the little one to come ... xx

    Another month down....no baby! :x

Apparently if you don't have the perfect amount of cervical mucus the sperm struggle to swim....so there's this new lubricant out called Conceive Plus which mimics your cervical mucus etc etc and women on forums are saying it's magic blah blah blah....so I've now bought some of that for this month. My ob/gyn said it's crap and there's no proof that it works....but it's worth a try....and only costs $25!

One more month of trying and then I'm looking into acupuncture.

Fingers crossed! It's got to happen soon....PJ have been touring Australia every 3 years which means they may come back around November 2012....I need to pop this baby out between tours DAMMIT!! :x

GOod luck to you Ziggy. My wife and I just started looking into having a child. She's been off the pill for about 2 years, and I guess you can say we've been trying for about a year. Her obgyn thinks she may have Cystic Ovarian Syndrome which isnt all that uncommon. I just had my little swimmers check out last week but havent heard results yet.

Keep trying Ziggy. I had a neighbor once who couldn't conceive so they decided to adopt. About a year after the adoption, she ended up pregnant. So there's no saying what's in the cards for you, just keep your spirits and positive energy focused on it. Good luck.

Pelvic tilt? My ex did the bicycle - that aerobics exercise where you lay on your back with your arms bent at the elbow to support your ass and hips which are in the air, with your feet straight up, pedalling like you're on an upside down bike. It was a bit of an inside joke between us....probably did nothing, but I liked the view, and it was a fun way to start round two, so....;)

A little aside: My sister has two IVF kids...she had her ovaries removed due to surgical complications, so she decided to have eggs harvested and embryos frozen......So...my nephew was born two years to the day after my neice....conceived the same day, born the same day, two years apart. Fraternal twins or no?

Hope you can make this happen before shelling out the big bucks, Ziggy. Best of luck....:)

( PS - I'm not very fond of the term "cervical mucus" )
