I usually swim 500m-1km a few times a week. It's great to relax the muscles after a workout.

nice to see/know we have other swimmers here. somewhere in this thread i believe there is a guy or two who swims or used to swim something like 7 miles a day? that person inspires me everyday & i do think of them but do not even know who they are. i'm not a fast swimmer but i sure as shit aint last either. i guess im mediocre. 7 miles would probably take me 8-10 hrs. i've swam 3 miles before but never 7.

I used to be a competitive swimmer...swam 2 hours a day 5 times a week. Not sure how many miles this would equate to...maybe 3??? It is such a great workout.... I miss it!!!

Okay so ya probably 2-3 miles in a practice. This was a long time ago...haven't been racing since I was 16 (I'm 30 now). I'll occasionally do laps now just for exercise but I doubt I could swim that far anymore. I'm more of a gym-goer now, and even being in shape I find swimming can "wind me" pretty quickly. I should get back into it cuz i really loved it!! Good for you to be swimming every day...not everyone can do that!

black friday can kiss my fat fucking ass. as i ate a ridiculous amount of grub yesterday & even here lately, today as always, i swam myself senseless & a little extra too.

if you are a stuffed-gut-full-bastard you had better get yourself into the water & pull some strokes out

i've been swimming at my gym twice in the last couple weeks. nothing crazy. just about 6 laps after my workout. 3 freestyle and 3 breaststroke. wanna try and swim once a week or so going forward. the problem is there are only a 4 lanes so you have to get there when it's not crowded.

Its been a few weeks for me, but I headed up to the rec ctr yesterday and did several lapse and water weights. Its a great workout. I hope to swim about once per week along with my other exercise.

    nice picture signature, mikalina.

juggler's swimming. mikalina's swimming. you two are getting me revved up this morning. good for you two. always kick it up a notch or two. after swimming one day a week, crank it up some. we need to do this with everything we do in life. always improving, always challenging ourselves. faster, quicker, stronger, longer, further & more.

yesterday (& this isn't the first time he's told me this) my doctor tells me i should be swimming 2 hrs or more every day instead of swimming some & walking some. "cut out the walking" (beings my knees are hanging on by a thread) "before your legs fall off"

"i'm walking & want to walk an hour or two every day" - me
"what if your legs fall off" - doc
    "i don't care! then i'll crawl" - me
"or walk on your hands" - doc
"pain, agony & suffering are my best pals, i don't give a shit, doc"

sure i swim 2 hrs quite often but not daily; i guess that's gonna change. serious time

i would love to have my very own pool that i designed
    3 - 12 ft deep
    75-100 ft long
    6 or more laps wide
& somewhere in there i'd have a jet swim thing installed (a swimming tredmill...lots of swimming & not going anywhere)

    i could swim 5-7 times a day
    2:37am tossing around can't sleep
wham... roll out of bed into wet

    this would be the life

i forgot to tell the good doctor there, "if my legs fall off i can then beat someone or something with my legs; you know like a bear or a wolverine or a viking or something fun like that"

I've been coaching my swim team for the last six months, and I just decided to get back into the water myself last Friday. I started to swim the 1,000 yard warmup I have them do everyday. I got about halfway through it and realized I'm either horribly out of shape, or I'm a horrible coach for making these kids swim such a hard warmup. I'm not sure which is worse. :\

But I swam a bit on Monday, too (after a taco salad -- bad idea), and plan to swim about 20 minutes every weekday before practice. Gotta keep it going!

will be swimming this weekend , can't wait to start swimming on the ocean soon enough if the water hits anything over 50 degrees i'm in it's cold as shit but once you start to swim you warm up quick or get totally numb ...

so the warm up is just over a half mile, that's probably about perfect. like anything it takes time, practice, work & not quitting when tired, sore & full of taco salad or a breakfast bagel sandwich

for most people it takes years of work to get decent at most things. some folks will not ever be a swimmer & that's fine.

it's in my genes to swim as mom was a swimmer/lifeguard & dad a swimmer & sometimes a lifeguard when they needed one. for kicks mom & dad would toss us into the water & make us swim a mile... if we failed, we'd have to fight a shark
