Why anyone "chooses" to live in Utah is beyond me but to each their own. I know its beautiful but it seems so restricting in so many ways. But hey, you're digging it, right? Anyway, beer is known to be an excellent source of carbs so drink up as you train for your triathlon. Hope you're well and things are good for you Rob. Keep that mischeivious twinkle in your eye!

I start chemo again tomorrow. I am really hoping the side effects are more mild than the last time. I have two reasons to hope: 1) there's no radiation this time and 2) I only get 48 hours worth, every two weeks, as opposed to 24/7. the fact that it's 24 weeks sucks.
oh well...what can ya do? with all the support I get around here, I'm sure I'll make it throughIf I had known then what I know now...

Sounds to me like you're rounding third and heading toward home. Question is, will you cross the plate sliding head first or upright in stride? Me thinks the latter and what's 24 weeks at this point of the game? You'll be fine Rob and KICKIN ASS! But if you need anything, even from my little armpit backwater part of the country, give a holler!

Howdy peeps!
Rob, I hope the chemo round 2 goes ok.
My auntie is on 'maintenance' chemo for her non hodgkins lymphoma (sp?), she went through what sounds like a similar regime after her op, and now further on only has chemo 4 times a year.
(Hers is slightly different, as they can't cure hers, they can only treat it when it occurs - when tumors appear etc..she's had 5 in 8 years or there abouts)
Anyway, the maintenance chemo has really helped and the side effects are not as severe so I reckon you'll be grand!

I started round #2 of chemo today. I wasn't quite sure what it would entail or what they hope to accomplish, but they cleared up a lot. you would think I would know these things  but there's a lot of information overload...
They were concerned there were three positive lymph nodes after surgery but I'd be getting this additional chemo, regardless...I said "so, in a perfect world, there would have been no positive lymph nodes?"...the PA said "no, in a perfect world, you and I never would have met"good line...and true. she also said finding three wasn't good...but it's better than four...or ten.
So, I go in and they IV push two anti nausea meds...then they do a two hour IV drip of oxaliplatin (chemo) and leucovourin (enhancer....but not in the cialis sense). I had no idea I'd be there for three hours...next time I'll take a laptop  . after all that shit, they push a BIG syringe of 5FU and hook me up to the take home pump (also 5FU).
they were telling me "don't drink cold milk, don't drink cold water." who cares? what about BEER???? as soon as I got home, water (yes, water) already tasted different  . the good news is, I go back on friday and the DC the pump. it will push the same volume of 5FU that used to take 7 days  . looks like I may be embarking on another "long road." I'm hoping for the bestIf I had known then what I know now...

I ran a test...water tastes weird....but beer still seems OK!
I'm getting error messages on my pump...I just called "tech support"...I could barely hear him over his kids screaming in the background

Keep up that incredibly admirable attitude mate.
