I DID hear it soon....the oncologist called at 8:00 am to tell me.......

"the PET scan shows NO EVIDENCE of cancer." Woo-hoo!!!!!

I see my oncologist on Friday and my surgeon next week. I guess we'll figure out a surveillance program so that this crap never, ever returns. the hospital should be calling me today to arrange to dig this "Power Port" out of my chest.....I don't need it anymore  . I guess, as of today, I became a survivor. Sweet!

from the bottom of my heart, thanks to everyone of you guys who ever posted, sent a card, sent a bad ass jersey  or did anything at all to lift my spirits. between you guys, chemo, radiation and surgery, we kicked cancer's sorry, punk ass!

    WOW !!

Awesome News Rob so Glad to hear it :D

^^^^^ thanks to ALL you guys for the kind words :D

I got my Power Port removed today. It really felt like a full circle had been closed....I was in the same room where they installed this thing last May.....the room where it first hit me that this whole cancer thing was "real"....the room with the bright overhead lights and cold table.

they did the removal under local anesthetic and put a sheet over my head so I couldn't really watch. at one point, the guy is stitching me back up and I flinched...he says "oh, can you feel that?"...I said "what was your first clue, the flinch?'...he says "guess we need a little more lidocaine"

so, I now really feel like it's done. no more foreign objects in my body. more importantly, no more cancer in my body. "blogging" about this (I hate that term) has been a real help for me. I wish, I wish, I wish that PJ would come back to salt lake and I could invite all of you over to my house for a drunken pre-party. Second to that, could we get a tour anywhwere in the U.S. where I might get to meet some of you guys? The people who I have met from this thread have been salt of the earth. This thread will probably slow to a crawl and, god forbid, I may even head over to the moving train from time to time  . slow or not, feel free to stop back and ask me how it's going

If PJ plays Salt Lick, you know I'm there. And if they don't, get your ass to Boston, Hartford, MSG, Philly, DC or some point inbetween, Denver, St.Louis, Columbus..................Would love to have a few beers with you before the show! And Rob, stay away from the AMT, nothing good comes out of there

And I will definitely be checking in now and again to see how everyone is doing but I have to tell you, getting your port out is so huge and like you said full circle. Nice job kicking that little punk ass bitch cancer, Rob!

Be and stay well and hope to meet you at a show!

I have a follow up with my surgeon today.....I don't expect anything too earth shattering to come out of it.

I have GOT to get this numbness taken care of. It's driving me crazy and seems to be getting worse; not better. I may have to try the acupuncture route because the drug isn't working at all

    Sounds a lot cheaper. :P

Srsly neuropathy is bad bad bad. Many of the folks I work with have it and it makes their lives miserable. Hope the doc has some suggestions for you.

So what's the word from the surgeon?

nothing too earth shattering...he said I looked great  and was due for a colonoscopy :x

I was kinda down last night....it's seeming like maybe I didn't "beat" cancer, after all. maybe it beat me. I'm alive  but, shit, my hands and feet don't work and there's the whole colostomy thing. this shit changed my life forever. I'll buck up and hope that either the gabapentin or acupuncture can get my feet and hands going again...
