Pearl Jam Twenty - Film Book Soundtrack
05.16.11

In addition to Pearl Jam's Alpine Valley Labor Day Anniversary Concert + Canadian tour, the band will release a Cameron Crowe-directed film, Pearl Jam Twenty, which captures the band’s journey over its twenty years, along with an accompanying book and soundtrack album this fall. Details on each follow.

PEARL JAM TWENTY FILM BY CAMERON CROWE

Carved from over 1,200 hours of rarely and never-before-seen footage, plus 24 hours of recently shot interview and live footage, Pearl Jam Twenty is the definitive portrait of Pearl Jam as told by award-winning director and music journalist, Cameron Crowe.

PEARL JAM TWENTYSOUNDTRACK

Columbia Records/Sony Music will release the Pearl Jam Twenty soundtrack in conjunction with the film’s theatrical release. Cameron Crowe selected the track listing for the soundtrack -- making the album a true companion piece to the film.

PEARL JAM TWENTYBOOK

Published by Simon & Schuster in the U.S. and Canada and Atlantic Books in the UK, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, the Pearl Jam Twentybook is an aesthetically stunning, definitive chronicle of the band’s past two decades. The book was compiled and written by veteran music journalist and current "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" music booker, Jonathan Cohen, with Mark Wilkerson (author of “Who Are You: The Life of Pete Townshend”), designed by Pearl Jam in-house designer Regan Hagar (also the drummer for Brad and Satchel), with a foreword by Cameron Crowe.

More information on the Pearl Jam Twenty film, book and soundtrack will be announced in the coming weeks.

Do you guys think a Pearl Jam movie will even get played in a real live movie theater? In other words, do you think a schmuck like me who lives in Phoenix will get to see this at a theater? Somehow I doubt the vast viewing public would care about this enough to warrant many screens.....Thoughts?

SO excited! With Cameron choosing the tracks, it's bound to be a good soundtrack. Maybe we'll get some mastered versions of live pre-official boot stuff.

At least you're in a big, well-known city that will most likely get the movie.

    I thought it would.
The recent Foo Fighters doc was in independant theatres over in Australia for 4 days.
I suspect PJ20 would be similar!

    AMAZING News!
    High anticipation for all three!!!

Exactly. The PJ20 shows will be awesome but for those of us who haven't got a chance of getting there this looks pretty cool!

I just hope we get a DVD or Bluray of both the PJ20 shows (full PJ set lists, not a highlights disc :D )

The link says that the film will have its PBS premiere on Oct 21st. I believe we will see the film in theaters worldwide in September or early October.

The Foo Fighters documentary Back And Forth (+3D in-studio performance of the complete new album) was shown as a one night only thing in theaters internationally. With a famous director like Cameron Crowe I'm sure we will see the PJ20 Film in theater worldwide and longer than one night only...

Yep! Try living on the east coast of Canada in a small town. I'm hoping one of our Empire Theatres will get a screening of the film. When Into The Wild was released, only one theater here, Park Lane, was screening the film. No other theater in the heart of Halifax had it available for showing.

Could also contain some non pearl jam tracks, early bands, influences and so on. For example the foos doco had a lot more then just foo fighters songs in it.

I remember Jarmusch Crazy Horse documentary got realesed in theatres here in Sweden but I bet this one won't. Maybe at Stockholm Filmfestival or Gothenburg International filmfestival.

Wil email the festivals and ask them about it.

I believe it will be released in Sweden and in Finland as well ;) Cameron Crowe is quite a famous director and his full length movies always get a theater so I also believe that a documentary of one of the most famous rock bands will get a theater release.

    - Almost Famous got a theater release ;). Pearl Jam is a lot more than almost famous!
