With that said, these guys were great http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SqsNR5pI6bw. Even strung out Cedric sounds better than Cornell. Cornell behind a rock band doesn't cut it for me. Only with studio wizardry
pro shot?!?!?!
what is this from???
and...SpinTheBlackCircle74
You're in for a treat. Only thing bad about QOTSA is they dont play long enough!!!
HOLY FUCK, SOMEONE ELSE IS AS AMAZED AS THIS AS ME? PRO SHOT OMG, I'VE GOT A FEW BOOTS BUT THEY ARE SUCKY QUALITY, I GOT 1 SOUNDBOARDISH ONE THOUGH.
Dam, Badmotorfinger is one of the greatest albums, if you put is vs ANY PJ record it beats it, Ten is maybe on the same level.
As with SG vs TMV they are two different bands really, I believe Cornell has a lot more range and probably vocal talent/training. Cedric can hit some notes and sing some really nice stuff but I'm not a singing expert at all so I could be talking trash but I just feel Cornell has a lot more soul and emotion in his voice and training. Cedric has a cool accent though.
Man I'd kill to see ATDI!!!!0 -
poor 3/4 of Soundgarden...they have to deal with Cornell!0

The comedy on this thread. . .
I can't get past the lead singer of Coheed and Cambria's voice. A few notes, and my ears start screaming in horrible protest. It's great that you like them, Unknown. I don't know how many live shows you go to. I've seen Coheed and Cambria live (briefly) on Warped Tour. I could name many, many bands that play with as much or poor energy, and who are quite frankly better live bands.
The worst comment on the thread was the one stating Cedric from The Mars Volta's voice is better than Cornell's. That is possibly the most comical thing I have read on this board since the guy who posted daily threads about the band Smashmouth. I like The Mars Volta. Frances the Mute, for me, is one of the best albums of the last ten years (and far superior to De-loused). I generally like Cedric's voice. But he NEVER belongs in the same conversation with Chris Cornell. Few in the history of rock do. I just saw Cornell on Tuesday night, and even at his age and after chain smoking for many years, his vocal range is simply jaw-dropping.
As for The Mars Volta, everything they've done since they fired Theodore has been sub-par, and their live shows aren't nearly as good. And now they've fire Pridgen too. I met Cedric and Omar backstage briefly when they played Outside Lands, and they are fucking pretentious assholes. Their music is suffering for it.It makes much more sense to live in the present tense.0 -

Just watched it, I must say...that was pretty unimpressive.0 -
Well, here is a clip that is a little less theatrical. This song is off their first album. You can't deny the energy from the crowd! Yeah, I agree, the vocals may take a little time to get used to. At first I was the same way, but once you start actually listening to a whole album of theirs, I think you will change your mind. Take a look at this video and this song.

Again, musicianship is good, but I don't really dig what they're doing.
And PS, Nickeblack has energetic crowds, doesn't make them a good band.Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V0 -
sawyerjam wrote:pjfan021 wrote:cornell on his worst day sounds better that either of those singers. Coheed and mars volta have THE worst singers around. Really terrible high pitched uninteresting voices IMO. Queens of the stone age however, now there's a real fucking opening band.
Soundgarden doesn't have an album as good as Deloused In The Comatorium. The Mars Volta do pretty well for having an awful singer
Superunknown might be the best rock album of the 90s, and Badmotorfinger aint far behind.0 -
This again?
And I dig Coheed & Cambria.0 -

Yeah. I remember the last Coheed 'street team' member that came on here and did this exact same kind of promotion. (probably the same dude).
Anyway it worked. I checked them out last time and it was not my cup of tea. I don't want to be disrespectful as we all have our own musical taste, but to me they were terrible.
Well I've just checked out those two videos and my ears are hurting. Even Warren Haynes couldn't prevent me from turning that shit off after a minute or so.
Now I'm sure if I continued to explore that band, I would perhaps find something that I like from them.
But the attitude of the OP makes me more inclined to try and avoid that band at all cost.0 -
mastodon, qotsa, followed by soundgarden would blow my fucking head off seeing that live.Beavis: All my friends are brown and red? What does that mean?
Butthead: It means that his friends are like turds and that they like suck.
Beavis: Heh heh. Oh yeah. Yeah! Get those spoons out of my face before I shove them up your butt!
Butthead: Huh huh.0 -

Man that clip is fucking AMAZING.
As for the discussion at hand, Soundgarden was largely known to be hit or miss live, you either get the good or the bad, but you dont know until the show starts. TMV are widely regarded as a GREAT live band(which they are IMO), I have heard C&C are actually pretty great live as well..
That being said, I can see Soundgraden being much, much tighter and getting the good Soundgarden out every night now that they are older, wiser and more mature and have been rehearsing like crazy for the past few years, I see it hard to match their live show, as when they were ON they were fucking ON.
Also whoever said Cedrics voice in uninteresting, you are crazy, sure I can get not liking it, not diggin it but saying its uninteresting is CRAZYPost edited by EquallyWorthless on{if (work != 0) {

I saw them several years ago in a mall parking lot. They weren't that good. Comparing them to SG is akin to comparing filet mignon[SG] to Alpo[CaC].
