Soundgarden doesn't have an album as good as Deloused In The Comatorium. The Mars Volta do pretty well for having an awful singer

Really? I mean really? I might be alone on this, but I'm pretty sure badmotorfinger beats the shit out of that album by far...good for them that they made it this far with an awful singer. I'll take that washed up cornell guy instead0 -
pjfan021 wrote:gibbits wrote:Amen to that - Queens is great. I just googled Coheed and Cambria. Song started off pretty cool until haircut opened his mouth. I can't believe anyone thinks this will blow Soundgarden away.
RIGHT? I don't care how good your music is, the singer's voice is god awful. Same reason I can't get into the mars volta...just god awful "singing."
When I see shit like this all I can think is what a fuckin' shame. With a Scott Weiland type voice or even a Maynard this woud sound good. I have never been a fan of the whinny emo sounding singers.0 -

the singer from The Mars Volta is actually pretty fuckin amazing if u ask me. Not many people can hit the high notes like he does. But it is an acquired taste, so i respect your opinion. Whether u like TMV or not... you cant deny the band is talented as hell.
If you have a hard time getting into TMV's music...cuz it is kinda out there...I cannot recommend highly enough the band At the Drive In. It's more "normal" music so you might find the singer's voice a little more tolerable in that band.
However, Coheed and Cambria - they get filed under the "no talent ass clowns" category in my opinionMansfield, MA - Jul 02, 2003; Mansfield, MA - Jul 03, 2003; Mansfield, MA - Jul 11, 2003; Boston, MA - Sep 29, 2004; Reading, PA - Oct 01, 2004; Hartford, CT - May 13, 2006; Boston, MA - May 24, 2006; Boston, MA - May 25, 2006; Hartford, CT - Jun 27, 2008; Mansfield, MA - Jun 28, 2008; Mansfield, MA - June 30, 2008; Hartford, CT - May 15, 2010; Boston, MA - May 17, 2010; [EV - Providence, RI - June 15, 2011; EV - Hartford, CT - June 18, 2011]; Worcester, MA - Oct. 15, 2013; Worcester, MA - Oct. 16, 2013; Hartford, CT - Oct. 25, 2013; Boston, MA - August 5, 2016; Boston, MA - August 7, 2016...0 -
In addition...I would just like to say that this thread title is COMPLETELY MISLEADING!!! I came here thinking something horrible happened to the band or one of its members...that maybe the tour was off...
Glad that is not the case, and also glad this thread is providing my day with lots of entertainment.Mansfield, MA - Jul 02, 2003; Mansfield, MA - Jul 03, 2003; Mansfield, MA - Jul 11, 2003; Boston, MA - Sep 29, 2004; Reading, PA - Oct 01, 2004; Hartford, CT - May 13, 2006; Boston, MA - May 24, 2006; Boston, MA - May 25, 2006; Hartford, CT - Jun 27, 2008; Mansfield, MA - Jun 28, 2008; Mansfield, MA - June 30, 2008; Hartford, CT - May 15, 2010; Boston, MA - May 17, 2010; [EV - Providence, RI - June 15, 2011; EV - Hartford, CT - June 18, 2011]; Worcester, MA - Oct. 15, 2013; Worcester, MA - Oct. 16, 2013; Hartford, CT - Oct. 25, 2013; Boston, MA - August 5, 2016; Boston, MA - August 7, 2016...0 -

I will agree that TMV are very talented musicians, no doubt...but that voice just hits a nerve. I SG last year at lolla and TMV a few years back after francis the mute...SG was far better in my book, and that's ok if you disagree. Just can't believe that Coheed or the Volta would be able to trump SG live.0 -

The Queens are by far the best live rock band being discussed in this thread. They harken back to the 70's and the way rock is supposed to be. With that said, these guys were great http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SqsNR5pI6bw. Even strung out Cedric sounds better than Cornell. Cornell behind a rock band doesn't cut it for me. Only with studio wizardry0

You're in for a treat. Only thing bad about QOTSA is they dont play long enough!!!Mansfield, MA - Jul 02, 2003; Mansfield, MA - Jul 03, 2003; Mansfield, MA - Jul 11, 2003; Boston, MA - Sep 29, 2004; Reading, PA - Oct 01, 2004; Hartford, CT - May 13, 2006; Boston, MA - May 24, 2006; Boston, MA - May 25, 2006; Hartford, CT - Jun 27, 2008; Mansfield, MA - Jun 28, 2008; Mansfield, MA - June 30, 2008; Hartford, CT - May 15, 2010; Boston, MA - May 17, 2010; [EV - Providence, RI - June 15, 2011; EV - Hartford, CT - June 18, 2011]; Worcester, MA - Oct. 15, 2013; Worcester, MA - Oct. 16, 2013; Hartford, CT - Oct. 25, 2013; Boston, MA - August 5, 2016; Boston, MA - August 7, 2016...0 -
Agreed that QOTSA are top notch. You are in for a treat, saw them april 1st and the s/t album kicks sooooo much ass live. They played someone's in the wolf during the encore...now that my friends is live music right there.0

Actually, it's the exact opposite. People are speaking on the fact that they have seen or at least heard them. You're certainly entitled to your opinion, but instead of trying to push it on everyone you should realize that you are in the overwhelming minority (think 0.5-1%) and just keep it to yourself since nobody is going to agree with you.0 -

Qotsa are awful. Listen, people are going to have their opinions but anyone who has actually seen coheed and cambria live know what they bring to the table. They have more energy at their shows than other concert i have ever been to. Go look up some live stuff on youtube, mainly the song welcome home and delirium trigger.0

You are THAT guy that always starts those coheed threads? Right?
Just under a different name, correct?
Anyway.... I'll give anything a try before I can it. And this band is beyond terrible
My musical taste is all over the place. Like someone else said, them opening the Jones Beach show might have me driving down to Philly. And Jones Beach is 10 minutes from my house
That's how bad they stink0 -

keep a close eye on the secondary market for tickets.... here is stub hub mainly..not sure what it is in Greece, but when I saw them in Boston in March...there were tons of empty seats up in the balcony area. Twas a shame. Scalpers are buying tix to drive up demand, but in all reality, its hurting the bands/fans. Scalpers are getting stuck with tickets more than we know.Mansfield, MA - Jul 02, 2003; Mansfield, MA - Jul 03, 2003; Mansfield, MA - Jul 11, 2003; Boston, MA - Sep 29, 2004; Reading, PA - Oct 01, 2004; Hartford, CT - May 13, 2006; Boston, MA - May 24, 2006; Boston, MA - May 25, 2006; Hartford, CT - Jun 27, 2008; Mansfield, MA - Jun 28, 2008; Mansfield, MA - June 30, 2008; Hartford, CT - May 15, 2010; Boston, MA - May 17, 2010; [EV - Providence, RI - June 15, 2011; EV - Hartford, CT - June 18, 2011]; Worcester, MA - Oct. 15, 2013; Worcester, MA - Oct. 16, 2013; Hartford, CT - Oct. 25, 2013; Boston, MA - August 5, 2016; Boston, MA - August 7, 2016...0 -
Coheed have a few ok tunes and I'm sure are a pretty solid live band, they're just not on the same level as at least 4 out the other 5 bands on the tour. I don't mind the guys voice, but there's something decidedly generic about alot of their stuff that I've heard.
I prefer Mastodon and TMV over QotSA, but Josh Homme by himself will be more entertaining than a Coheed set would be.0
