  • I don't understand what I did. I quoted you from another thread, and that was it. I actually take great care to follow the forum rules here.

you dont see the problem with assuming that because i have a post history here, that you can infer or deduce anything at all, about me or my life, at all, based on some posts or quotes taken out of context?

i dont like when people who ive never met say they know me. Just because you can quote me, doesnt mean you know me. Its just words
  • i guess ive always sort of believed in the mantra you get to know someone before you judge them, and even when you do know someone, you sort of taper your judgements based on stuff. The whole dont judge others or dont prejudge others, dont assume you know peoples life story, maybe thats foreign to you, but its very important to me.

i wanted to just drop this and stop posting here. i have better things i could be doing. but this is just too damn interesting. the real question is why do you care so much what we think about you? like you said, we don't know you. you can just go on with your life and forget that we exist. this stuff is meaningless. it's a freaking message board. get over it. i don't even know your real name! i'm talking about it because i enjoy arguing, and you keep giving new material. what's your excuse?

You talking about us judging you, when you post stuff like this:
you dont read or find nuance in things do you, friend. lets face it, music is a life long passion for many, but once people marry and have kids, and have to pay bills, alot of people who were music fanatics as kids and teens, start to lose touch with modern music and finding new bands. sure there are exceptions but this is the way it usually goes.

indie music and the whole idea of hipster identity, it isnt 50 year olds or dads and moms who are being marketed to in american apparel ads, and it isnt dads and moms moving to williamsburg, the skinny jeans wearing, american apparel clad, pitchfork reading hipster, that I picture in my own mind, isnt a mom or dad or a 50 year old, or 40 year old. they are a twentysomething. a kid basically.

I have no problem with moms and dads or older people listening to indie. Again, you arent fast on the nuance are you? I didnt suggest this was bad. The fact is, pick any music genre. Grunge immediately comes to mind for obvious reasons. It started out local, got attention, then became a national, then global phenomenon. Not just teens knew who kurt was, parents did as well. The commercialization of it, as evidenced by parents becoming aware of it, along with a multitude of other factors led to its demise.

Generally as a rule of thumb, for any other genre other than indie, once the scene becomes a household word and becomes commercialized, and when parents know about the bands and listen to them as well, the scene dies. it becomes stale, and whatnot. indie is a rare exception.

music history 101 friend, not too tough to work it out

You sure act like you already know me as some lame suburban SUV driving soccer coach or something. And, no, you have never met me. Speaking of glass houses...

yep that quote is full of hatred towards you, and towards SUV driving soccer coaches. I mean look at it, we can pick apart all of it, its teaming with seething hatred for lame moms and dad's who listen to indie music. Lets see, where to start. Well...wait a minute...

have no problem with moms and dads or older people listening to indie.

    AND

I didnt suggest this was bad.

most important though are these key sections.

  • maybe your so touchy johnny because you sold out and feel bad about it. guilt maybe.

Anyone that could take that post and say i was badmouthing you, or SUV driving people, or moms and dad's in general isnt fast on the uptake.

That post was in reponse to a few other posts. I think i made an original point, you freaked out and posted some nonsense crap like always, utter rubbish, then went on this mushroom induced rant about how i was badmouthing you for being a dad and old. you sane friend?

honestly i think you are the only one who is being "touchy" in this argument. maybe you shouldn't take it so personally, and maybe if you don't like something, you should just take your own advice and ignore it. i don't think we'd still be having this conversation if you did that.

anyway, i do agree, that post about the suv driving people wasn't really much of an attack on johnny....but it's not just specific instances like that. it's just what you have to say in general that tends to rub some people the wrong way. maybe i should start requesting that people get banned everytime i don't like something they have to say about a post i make. childish if you ask me.

and come on....part of the allure of a message board for many people is that we like to argue about shit. it's human nature. some people come here specifically for information purposes, and some people come here because we like to argue and discuss music. i wouldn't be opposed to this thread being locked down. but you are really being ridiculous about this.
